I've only seen 1 or 2 other videos from this channel so could you direct me to where the channel treats some other religion in a different way than they do Christianity? KZbin doesn't really like links for whatever reason, but a copy paste of the title or some keywords to use when searching would be fine. Because I have a hard time believing that someone who appears to be nonbelievers would treat any religion like it could possibly be true. Though, I'm happy to have my guess proven wrong as it is just a guess. All the videos I've seen have been about Christian topics. You know because he lives in a country that is made up of more Christians than people of any other religion or are nonbelievers in general. So, like most people in such a society, even if they did not grow up believers [which is also rather unlikely though possible,] they have been surrounded by Christians for virtually all their lives. Therefore, they have more familiarity & knowledge of Christianity in their personal experience so discuss it rather than talking out of their a-s on stuff they aren't familiar with.

Like when they say to pray to god and he will fix it. If god cannot change at all then that would mean his thoughts, ideas, and original plan for the current situation or any situation someone is in can not and will not change as well. That prayer would do nothing ergo it would mean nothing. The same outcome would have happened even if they didn’t pray. Also, can we all agree that when the lady asked Jesus to tell her what time the rapture would come and he told her a story about always being ready he dodged the question?

@ChristopherSadlowski

It's practically guaranteed that most of the New Testament is backfill to force the story to make the earlier prophecies look like they came true. It's why the book makes no damn sense and why so many of the main plot points aren't backed up. What better way to make yourself feel better that the guy you followed actually was the real deal than to make it look like everything he did was foretold? Because after he died and nothing changed...well, you're all just wrong. But people would rather build up a fiction that they were right actually than simply correct themselves and admit they were wrong. It's a shame, too; look at all the awful shit Christian organizations have done and are still doing. We might have avoided some suffering if this religion never happened.

Then surrounding that was a vast ocean which Jormungandr (the world serpent) encircles. Odin and his brothers killed the giant Ymir (and then used his corpse for construction materials when making Midgard), but they didn't set out on a campaign of genocide against the giants.

There are many scriptures that pertain to end-times' events; these require careful study and illumination of the Holy Spirit to rightly understand. Men are called to put their trust in God and in his word which never fail: It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man (Psalm 118:8). The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

Long, post John 17:20? (And Matthew 17:20 - too, varyingly, fulfilled) And would such a slave trade, have been able to go on, if Leviticus 25, and Exodus 21, and similar, had been made, fully, and unambiguously, defunct, and struck, out? Yeah, that BS was made up AFTER historical events was never heard before ... And that theses crooks who are EARNING THEIR MONEY by telling such stories are the most honest people on earth is also clear. The best examples are the book of Mormon, most edicts of the popes (f.e. Golden Bull of 1356) and documents of the aristocracy. In short: Ever since there have been deeds, ownership documents and the recording of history, those crooks fake everything they can get their hands on to gain an advantage for themselves. Similarly, let's say Jesus did exist and really did say to his disciples that "When you see armies surround Jerusalem, it will be destroyed." That's... just a guess. And not even a particularly out there guess. If armies surrounded Jerusalem, especially Roman armies, then yeah, it was probably not gonna be good times for Jerusalem. I don't think you needed the gift of prophecy to figure that out. All it would show is that Jesus was capable of reading the political climate and coming to the obvious conclusion.

What you said at the end really resonated. The beginning of the end for me was when I stumbled upon a site for people who had left the (LDS, in my case) church and it made me really uncomfortable to read their doctrinal and practical criticisms. I shut it down but later that night I thought "well, if what I believe is true, why should this stuff bother me?" So I went back to the site and within 2 hours, convictions I had held for 20-something years were undone. I "doubted my doubts" not by burying them but by looking honestly, and after that it became clear very quickly what the truth was.

There was this timeline the church made where things like Columbus coming to the Americas and the American revolution were mentioned and then they'd quote verses from the book of mormon to show it proved prophecy. Even in this LDS church produced timeline the prophecies stopped after 1830.

There are many verses in the Bible about the end times; these must be understood within their proper context and that of the Bible as a whole. The Bible says that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day (see 2 Peter 3:8). The context of this verse is that of unbelievers complaining regarding the Lord's promised return. The Bible foretells in 2 Peter 3:3-4: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning. God is long suffering and not willing that any perish, but that all come to repentance (see 2 Peter 3:9). The Bible warns that all men are sinners in need of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ who bore our sins in his own body upon the tree that men might be forgiven (see 1 Peter 2:24). He died and rose again in accordance with the scriptures and saves all who put their trust in him (see 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Believers who study the scriptures know that the very complaining by scoffers about the timing of Jesus' return fulfills God's word.

"he will be buried with the rich and the wicked" you see, that's actually a very easy one to do. A lot of rich people are also _bad_ people. Guarantee you, if you were buried in a cemetery full of rich people, at least some of them are going to be wicked. (honestly, probably a rule of any cemetery, people can be pretty shit regardless of their socioeconomic status, but rich people often have to be shitty people in order to be substantially wealthy) On that river in the desert thing: deserts actually _need_ to flood occasionally. Yeah, deserts are dry af, but sometimes it rains. Unfortunately, because the ground is so dry when that happens, the water doesn't actually sink into the ground, the dirt's too hard and compacted, so it just flows around on top. This is important because there are plants in the desert, so a lot of plants rely on these periodic floods to store tons of water at once to get them through the dry months and years to follow.

It makes me feel like I am doing enough work to address the devastating effects of conspiracy theories even if people are still going to be doing this long after I'm gone. I'm mindblown that this line has been used to 'prove' Protestant Biblical Prophecy because the whole reason this line exists is because the early compilers of scripture were trying to quell the tendency to develop prophecies from scary contemporary events and somehow its been appropriated to do the exact opposite

When I was 13, I went to church for the first time with my friend because he invited me. I never really thought about religion because my parents weren't religious and they never tried to force any ideals on me. The sermon that day was about the rapture. The pastor explained the series of events in great detail. At the time, I was into writing plots and ideas for video games. After the sermon, my friend asked me what I thought. I said that the story of the rapture could make for a pretty cool video game, as that is all I was thinking about during the sermon. He was not amused. Its worth noting that this is the same friend that said during our science class as we were discussing the forming of planets and their moons that our moon could not had come from the earth, because if it did, it would have decapitated all the dinosaurs.

The stuff with Herod all parallels the Moses story, where the Pharaoh orders all Israelite male babies to be killed, but a lot of them are saved by good midwives and/or good mothers. In turn, the Moses story parallels the Krishna story, which I THINK is older, or at least contemporary, where the evil king Kansa hears that the eighth son of his sister Devaki will kill him. So he orders a female demon named Putana to kill all of the baby boys born within the previous week. She DOES find baby Krishna, disguisers herself as a nurse, and offers His foster mother to breastfeed Him, but He skips the milk and goes straight to SUCKING OUT HER BLOOD. Vicious little baby God. And I'm not a Hindu, but I do love Krishna. I think He's an excellent symbol. Oh, and He's also a renowned demon slayer who taught religious truths and raised the dead. Say hi to Jesus' later career there, eh?

The book of Daniel in the Old Testament was written after the start of the Babylonian captivity in the 500s BC. It gave a date concerning Jesus Christ, the Messiah: Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself... Daniel 9:25-26a The book of Nehemiah in the Old Testament records the giving of the command as referenced in Daniel. Jesus was 'cut off' for the sins of mankind; he died, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures (see 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). God offers the gift of eternal life to us to be received by faith in Jesus Christ (see Romans 6:23).

I think we'd consider a modern building to have not one stone remaining if you stripped it to its foundation, because that's not the building, it's a vacant lot. I do still go to church on Sundays, I guess to kinda save face, (or whatever the saying is), or to at least look holy. :P I kinda wanna be funny and say "pray for me", but Idk, I just find it all kinda sad, sometimes... I find it sad how some Christians do things like protest gays, and then say things like "It's because he loves you/we love you." I find it kinda sad how I was threatened by a priest to be kicekd out of Church once, because I was rocking back and forth a bit. (I have autism) I find it kinda sad how a lot of people who claim to follow a guy who said: "Judge not, lest' ye be judged" often seme to judge firs,t and ask questions later. I do still have respect for people who both see it AND follow it as a religion of love, because, Imo, that's how it's suppsoed to be. Not everyone practices what they preach... They again, maybe it's not all love to certain types of people/people gorups, so it's all kidna a confusing mess, anyway. Some of it is, anyway. As far as I'm concerned, jsut let peopel do whatever they want as long as they're happy, and not hurting themselves, or others.

I used to believe in Bible prophecy so much until I realized it depended on which interpretation I went with. I didn’t like the mainstream perspective on the prophecies in Daniel so I started following the newer ones. Than I realized after each time nothing came to pass, the prophecies were so vague that they could be applied to anything. It’s like saying In a long period of time since this word goes out, there will be many kings that arise. They will go to war with the other leaders and many will fall. During that time many will doubt. It will also come to pass after these events that many will seek the truth but it will flee from them. Nations will rise and others will fall. A child will be born in the remote parts and another shall find peace. Not too long after this, a terrible storm will fall upon a distant people. Many will wonder what these words mean but as the time approaches greater understanding will be gained. Boom. Let’s see what cult I start in the future.
