We were at Disney during one of those hurricane shutdowns. I'm critical about a lot from Disney these days, but they were rock stars in handling the hurricane. They were on generators the entire time so we never lost power. They had the restaurants going full tilt with extra tables so people could get food. They had characters all over the place at the hotel. And I got to do the typical dad move of standing by the doors with the other dad's just watching the storm. And I'll tell you-- I have never seen glass bend until we were in that hurricane

These are such great tips and advice. We experienced the hurricane. We were on our Disney vacation when it hit. Disney did an amazing job keeping us safe and accomodating us and knowing when we could leave our building to get food or do activities.

We also did get to use our last day of tickets and the cast members helped get our reservation to MK. Fry is right some things aren't all fully back open. Like jungle cruise didn't open for a good chunk of the morning we were there along with Pirates.

Cast members were AMAZING and stayed with us in lock down. All of my info and updates came from CM or from third party sites - no texts, emails, calls, or notices in my room at all. Again CM saves the day ❤️

We were at Riverside during the storm. They would not let us add a night to our stay, but a resort worker told us to make a seperate, 1 night reservation, then request to stay in the same room. That worked! A lot of campers from Fort Wilderness were at our resort as well.

We were not in Disney but left Universal Studios the morning Ian was hitting, we were driving back to Pa. That day anyway. We were very pleased by the way Universal handled this disaster. My thoughts were with those still in Florida! 😢Praying for all those impacted by this Hurricane!

I was at Loews Royal Pacific during the hurricane and the staff did a great job. Similar to Disney resorts, inside the resorts themselves things were run smoothly, they opened up the convention center areas to have games and movies for kids, only complaint I have is I was freezing as it wasn't just somewhat cold outside but the resorts were kept cold as well. No one's fault, I just wasn't prepared to be cold but always felt safe, they did a great job.

Was at the Dolphin during this hurricane. Everything was closed around us but the hotel has backup generators, never had power loss, and couldn’t really hear the wind. It looks like the rain was a lot worse by Fry Bucket. Similar to the Holiday Inn, they converted some of the convention rooms to play Disney movies for the kids. I thought they handled things quite well and by the time the parks opened it was as if nothing happened. It is pretty remarkable how quickly they got back up.

I stayed at Coronado during Ian. The Toledo restaurant was converted to buffet for $20. The buffet tasted much better and lower cost than the quick service El Mercado downstairs. Kudos to Disney for not price gouging the guests stuck in the hotel. Only bad thing was the dishes were basically the same for 2 days. Felt sort of like a cruise - stuck on the property, with similar activities (movies, board games, scavenger hunt, etc.) minus the pool.

We were staying at the Disney resort during hurricane Ian. Disney was amazing. They had activities throughout the days that we were staying at the resort and couldn’t visit the parks. They had the restaurant open throughout with limited evening hours. They kept information up to date through the resort channel on tv and through the my Disney app messaging. They had staff working throughout the entire time cleaning up any mess from the hurricane and ensuring guests were taken care of. We felt so comfortable and safe and felt that we couldn’t have been anywhere better during Ian. We gave so many staff compliments as they worked so hard around the clock to take care of the resort and guests. Our vacation was extended for two days and Disney provided a park hopper ticket complementary. Our vacation created special memories just because of Ian that we wouldn’t have otherwise. They are amazing and it meant so much to our family.

I was there. What you are saying about communication DID NOT HAPPEN. we received no text or emails. I had to change flights and needed to extend one day; went to front desk they were unable to help until Thursday. We found out our information from a cast member in lobby or a Disney blog. they discounted the buffet but made no announcement. Found out from lobby word of mouth. Opened up Friday unable to get any reservations fo9r any park. On Thursday night stayed on phone over 3 hours on hold to get help. NO HELP. Attempted to get help from front desk they made general announcement could not help. I was up till after midnight trying to get park reservations. then back up at 630 am. Had to go to park stand in long line waste part of early morning admission. Because could not get reservations could not use genie + at 7am. They did extend tickets I will return to ride Tron but will not stay at Disney. To top it all off I found out in elevator front desk did help others to get park reservations. This trip was for my 69th birthday and because of lack of customer service and lack of communication it was not a magical experience. Ive tried to contact Disney about problems can't find a way to contact.

How did they prepare the ANIMALS in Animal Kingdom for the Hurricane?

Animal Kingdom has a significant backstage area with barns and protected enclosures and shelters for the animals. They had a ride-out team with cast members, caretakers, and vets on-site the whole time.
