when I've painted the normal Thomas wooden railway faces it will crack like that some times because I didn't primer it but I dont think thats it since the paint your using is basically primer. So I would maybe try mod podge spray to see if that works. you've been doing a really good job with the faces!

The problem is Rust-Oleum doesn't react well with clear of any type. Also, try adding a layer of automotive primer before painting, helps the paint bond better. That's what I use on my models

I have the same issue, I’ve found that it’s easier just to not clear coat the faces. Or I just use brush modpodge (brush not spray). Next time we call on discord I’ll explain more

Try, sanding, priming, light spray (a few coats once it first few dry) and let it all dry before adding stuff on it

In my experience I've found that rust-oleum paint is just really bad and tends to crack when sprayed onto other types of spray-paint/clear coats, just don't use rust-oleum, i would recommend Dulux, that's what I've used on countless customs and i rarely get issues with cracking

I just use apple barrel paint, then give face details, then spray them with a glossy coat and, well that’s how I do my faces. Of course it does not require as the pain does not get off of Millaput, which is also what I use for the faces.

from what it looks like you didn't sand enough and it didn't dry all the way and also could be to much clear coat!!!! this happens to me sometimes, but I seem to have figured it out! if you still have more problems, you can reach out to me for help though! Edit: could also be lack of a proper base coat!

Try using brush gloss because you never know if you're adding too much gloss if you use spray causing it to crack or wrinkle

that's a pickle, and understandably frustrating. I wish I could help, but I've got nothing. The faces look great though maybe try brushing on some gloss, not sure tho.

Maybe try a brush clear coat instead? That’s all I can think of

Watching several @geohtoy videos I'm pretty sure this is a problem with the spray paint itself

Ok so, you sand it down, you put thin layers, maybe switch the clear coat
