I remember during the first season I though " yep Richard is a dick, will never like Richard" Now I love him and think he's a precious baby. Then I moved on to hating Madalena thinking " No, she's irredeemable, I'll never like her, she really sucks" Now I just want her and Gareth to develop feelings for one another and have a happy ending. It's so much sadder once you realize that those women are likely the ones who made Madalena who she is today. She always felt like she had to grab at any power she could so she wouldn't feel like that little girl again who was made to feel like she was nothing because of her position in life.

I think that's the point of this song. It was a reflection of all the times she fought her way to the top just so could be accepted by those queens, but now that she realizes they are just evil bitches, what was the point of her fight? All those people she hurt and things she had done and for what? To still be mocked by the people she thought would praise her.

It also makes the gift even better to Madelena (with her evil-leaning mentality). She has their prized possessions, the symbol that to her embodied to her how glam those queens were, and she also has a token reminder that they got severely painful punishment for "roasting" her, plus they're now disfigured and likely to never live it down.

This show is so delightfully creative and weird with its catchy tunes, and enticing energy, that I never want an episode to end. I often would get stuck between Downton Abbey and Galavant because they were broadcast at the same time on Sunday evenings. Now that Downton Abbey is ending, bring on Galavant!!!

@@eliburry-schnepp6012 Funny enough, ABC actually LOVED Galavant even though audiences weren't giving it the views they hoped for. Season 1 didn't get high viewership but ABC still gave it a second season to wrap up the plot and conclude the tale in a happy way. It's one of the ONLY times I've seen a network be nice to a show like that. I think it helps that Disney owes Alan Menken so much for his work on soundtracks that they wanted to allow his passion project to be shown to the world.

To all of the people out there saying "this is one of the few serious songs in this entire show," a serious song does NOT contain the lyric: "could I be feeling somehow?" Also, I do love how in any other shows, a man giving his girlfriend decapitated ears as a gift would be a creepy villainous reveal, but in this one it's a touching heartfelt moment. I honestly think Gareth and Madalena's relationship is one of the best love stories ever written, and I'm saying that with complete and total seriousness.

Some people are just so unaccustomed with their own feelings (and I'm talking from experience) that some "violent" feelings, like love for exemple, can actually be a little scary. So Madalena's reaction might be an exageration but it's supposed to be some kind of fairy tale, so it's normal if she's a little archetypal.
