THANK YOU FOR COVERING THIS. Whoever in your team recommended talking about OnePlus - Thank you. I've been very disappointed having owned Oneplus 1, 3T. 6T, Nord and 8 Pro. Loved owning a OnePlus at first. Will unfortunately be moving away from the company as they are mediocre at best now.

Me too, I still have my OP 8 Pro, because I wanted to try out Android for a long time, coming from the walled ecosystem. The 8 Pro was hard- and software wise the best phone I could imagine. TLDR, I'll switch back to iOS again this fall. Don't really like Apple as a company, but their phones are solid and iOS is really reliable imo.

I've been hoping for a while now that we see a return to form. Owned a OnePlus One and have probably gotten over a dozen phones purchased for them via recommendations and my own purchases. While I still love some of their devices and their original philosophy, we've seen many moves astray from it. Really hoping they can indeed focus so we can all go back to cherishing that one special brand.

I've had my OnePlus 7T hang up by itself when I dialed 911. Imagine trying to explain to someone who is injured that you cannot dial 911 because your phone has some weird glitch and needs to restart while they are laying on the floor bleeding with a dislocated shoulder. Needless to say, that was the final straw after a long series of unusual or weird glitches with my OnePlus. This could have actually killed somebody.

Keep it up, LMG).

I've been pretty sad to hear about all of these issues. I'm still rocking my 7 Pro and honestly, I have not experienced a single of the issues listed. I am glad I seem to have caught their last "good" phone, so to say. The motor pop-out front camera is a blessing for a person who takes no more than 3 selfies per year such as myself. It's been the main reason why I've been hesitant to even plan on changing my phone, since I refuse to give up screen real estate (with a notch or punch hole) for a camera I will never use. Disheartening to hear that this may no longer be the sole reason why people like me should hold back on buying a new phone, though.

I've absolutely loved my OnePlus 9 pro but it took months after launch to finally have many of the simple bugs I had issues with to be fixed. I didn't have issues with the storage dumping but I had issues with so many UI, texting, calling, and maps features. I've waited it out now and I haven't run into many of those bugs I used to have in a while. I definitely love the camera and OS of the phone with the fast charging and super responsive screen I will probably stick with my OnePlus 9 pro for a while. It's not like new mobile processors coming out are outperforming the snapdragon 888 significantly and charging is surpassing the 65w. Also there is no point in higher resolution or higher than 120hz on a phone.

I was an extremely happy OnePlus 3T user for over 5 years and I just recently changed it for a Pixel 6. It was an excellent phone and it represented the peak of OnePlus in my opinion. They did make a few great devices after it (the 7 series was a standout in particular) but the truth is that every single iteration from the 3T onward moved them more towards generic mediocrity and further away from the reasons many of us loved the brand in the first place. Remember people, brand loyalty is never a good thing. Always get what suits your needs. There is no reason to go down with a sinking ship just because you used to like it in the past. I recently got my hands on the OnePlus 9 and it was only because I had only one very precious game that could not save on cloud and it was on my previous OnePlus 7T. The reason why I needed a new phone was because of only 2 issues. 1st was that my phone was basically locked away from at&t's servers because they made a change that was like "we only support 5g phones now" so I wasn't able to call or use mobile data. but the 2nd issue was much worse. My very first softwire update just broke the phone. It takes ages to start the phone from a restart, It was overheating much faster, and worst of all, when I was gaming say like on Brawl Stars and I had my left thumb on the screen and moving it was all right but when I wanted to aim and shoot my movement is just dancing across my screen and it didn't allow me to move until I got my finger off and then it would work, just not for long though. same thing was actually with when I want to type something, it just types for me and clicking characters that aren't even close so that it could be mistaken as a typo.

I have a OnePlus 7 Pro. Based on all the reviews of their more recent devices, it seems to me like this is the last good phone they made. I love this phone and have no plans to change it. The only minor drawbacks are that there's no wireless charging and a software update added an annoying "accessibility options" shortcut that I can't remove and keep accidentally pressing. @@RandomUser2401 Well I've atm the One plus 6. It 5 years old, still last me over a day (not a heavy user). It runs last version of android and it not being slowed down. For support, I had to replace my sim-card of the phone, but because i used a old push out design card it got stuck in the phone. Contacted One plus, next day a delivery guy came to pick up the phone and 2 days later it returned with the card removed without any cost. So I can't complain about support. I prob am a lucky user and never experienced issues with the phone, neither with my One plus 3.

Agreed. The last good phone that I had was the 7 plus. My 9 plus is just shy of unusable, especially with each update, which has broken the direct contact shortcut, the direct text shortcut, the silent slider, the screen rotate, and triggering speaker phone and mute buttons. Meanwhile, sporadic issues with fingerprint registration, answer buttons failing etc. I submitted cases after each issue and just get canned responses where they want the same information (which we know they have anyway) and completely ignoring the fact that there are hundreds of others posting and reporting issues.

Thank you for covering this, my first "flagship" phone was a oneplus 9 that I've had for about a year now. The first three months it was the best phone I'd ever had, and then slowly things started to break, beginning with the fact that my phone wasn't ringing for phone calls. I've had numerous other bugs as well, including youtube videos playing themselves after I've paused them, and my phone completely hard resetting after I updated to OxygenOS 12! My 5 cents to this is that as long as OP released phones once or twice a year, we were in better hands, as the devs only needed to support a limited number of devices. Now when they have two versions of the primary phone, plus the T models, at least two? versions of Nord and then some Asia only models, it's getting wild. So, as Linus put it, they need to focus! If they want to have a phone in three different price groups fine, but maybe leave it at that. Three phones per year is enough. Apple is doing at least this one thing correctly.

Kind of heartbreaking. My dad got a OnePlus One back in 2014, telling me that it was considered to be the best phone in the world at that time (flagship killer and all, I guess). That's what introduced me to the brand. He ended up upgrading and gave me his OnePlus One, and looking back, it was absolutely among the best phones I had. I was 15 then and have stuck with OnePlus ever since. Even my brother has noticed my commitment to the brand and, despite all the changing trends, I've stuck around because I just really loved what OnePlus was doing. And now I'm worried that my next upgrade is going to have to be something else. The timing of this video is crazy for me because I've been thinking about this a lot lately as I recently factory reset my OnePlus 6T because I had so much useless material on it and it was getting unbearably slow and almost impossible to operate normally. My dad recently upgraded to a OnePlus 8 Pro and says he's really liked it so far, but I told him that a lot of what I've been reading is that OnePlus has really dropped the ball over the past few years and that my phone, the 6T, was basically their last really good phone. Thankfully, after my factory reset, I can see my phone lasting me at least another year or two because I don't care an awful lot about having the latest phone hardware, but I hope that when that point comes, OnePlus has cleaned up its act and gone back to what made them such a unique choice back in 2014.

I've noticed almost all those problems on both my Sony Xperia zx2 Compact, and Samsung ZFlip 3. These problems do not seem to be isolated to One Plus. In particular, if you leave Android's "chat features" on, things will (often silently) fail to send. This is not unique to any one manufacturer - the solution, however temporary (the feature occasionally turns itself back on...) is to disable chat features.

fun fact: OnePlus started with a cooperation with Cyanogen Inc. (known for CyanogenMod) and they actually made the software for the OnePlus One, called Cyanogen OS 11 based on KitKat. But OnePlus initially broke up with them due to the bugs and issues, Cyanogen Inc. wasn't able to fix in time (or at all) so they hired devs from the formerly Paranoid Android team and created OxygenOS. Seeing them getting into the same mess makes me wonder, if anyone from the initial OOS devs is still around in the company. OnePlus once was known for stable, clean and feature rich software that had many great stuff from custom ROMs. So basically the custom ROM, that isn't a custom ROM. Very sad. Seems like the last vendor who cared about customers also no longer cares about anyone but themselves and the good old days of custom ROMs also are over due to the restrictions google had been making the last few years ( SafetyNet for example). So nowadays you can choose between a bloated, messy OS or an clean, fast, free and lightweight OS, that can't be used for online banking, doesn't play netflix in HD and so on. The big issue here is: LineageOS comes unrooted out of the box but since a bootloader unlock on modern devices can already break certain things, it's almost impossible to enjoy. Old devices will not suffer from this but google just implemented hardware assisted detection routines for an unlocked bootloader on more recent devices. I think i will just use my OnePlus 3t yet another year. Sadly, google made sure old devices with anything before linux kernel 4,9 will no longer work with Android 12 (at least RIL = mobile data, sms, calls as it seems) so people are actually forced to upgrade their hardware, unless there are devs who take the huge effort to backport the whole stuff needed by android 12 OR port a newer kernel which isn't easy either. So yeah there you have it.

A little over a year ago, I bought a Google Pixel 6, but it had several bugs, the worst being that my calls would go straight to voicemail. I took the Pixel 6 back to the store, and they told me that several customers complained about the same issue. The store offered to exchange the phone, however, the Samsung S22 was not available, so I opted for the OnePlus 9. The only issue I had was that the unlock sensor would not recognize my fingerprint at times, the problem was remedied in a future update. Since then, I had no more issues other that I don't like Oxygen OS 12. I'm patiently waiting on the Samsung S23.

Just moved from a OnePlus 6T that I loved to a new Google Pixel 6a. Did NOT consider another OnePlus (such as the 10 pro or 10T) because of bugs I had for about a year after the 6T's final update. The bugs in my case were: Pocket mode stopped working, had to turn it off; Auto brightness became untrustworthy, also turned it off; the camera would almost always hang then crash several times before I could use it. The first two issues were relatively minor and can be worked around but the lack of functionality was missed. But the camera issue was really bad with no workaround either resulting in a lot of frustration waiting to finally be able to use the camera or photo opportunities completely missed. There were apparently a lot of other bugs left unfixed in this final update that other users experienced that I did not. So I can see why so many decided to roll back to a stable build of Android 10, install a custom ROM, or buy a new phone like I did.

Have the original OPO still working and wondering what I can do with it at this point. I did install Lineage OS on it a few years ago since it just runs really well with it. I also have an OP 7 Pro, sliding camera ribbon cable broke, OnePlus wanted to charge an arm and a leg to change it, solved it with a $25 camera off ebay and about an hour to spare to open and replace the part. I did have to install a bunch of different operating systems to narrow down the issue. The worst part was that the even though the front camera was dead, it also made my back camera stop working and caused some weird system instability problems. This also happened to happen just as I had to do an emergency trip to take care of my dad who was getting a kidney removed. In my panic, I bought a OP 10 Pro which works very very well, and I'm impressed, but I wish I had the chance to wait just 3 more days to buy the upgraded memory and storage for the same damn price, heck the phone hadn't even reached me and they put that thing on discount right there 3 days after I purchased the base 10 Pro (this really annoyed me). Given that I had to travel and I needed a working device to work remotely, I bit the bullet this time, but OnePlus' practices have become dodgy in every sense as of late, if Samsung had priority shipping I was ready to just purchase the S22.

Chat bubbles don't work correctly, sometimes not even appearing, apps not displaying properly and I'm a few instances popping up off center so part of the app is off screen, and the keyboard being so laggy on a messages screen that it will freak out when typing fast. At this point I think I'm tempted to try and get my 6T repaired and just keep the Nord to run my idle games.

Thanks for the warning. I will not buy an 8T then used either. I'll try to get my 6T repaired (Warp Charge/USB-C port not working as intended) and live with it for as long as I can until a worthy successor (on the used market) comes along.

Right now for everyone to know, Oneplus peaked at the Oneplus 7T PRO and Oneplus knows it, it was the most bug free phone that had the balance of budget and flagship (At least from my experience), instead of balancing it now, they decided to completely break that balance and it is genuinely breaking the community... Not sure why would they do it...

Can confirm, I've been using a OnePlus 7T Pro (McLaren Edition) since it was released and I have minimal to no complaints, and coming from the LG G3 and LG G4 (both excellent phones at the time) it is the best phone I ever used, but this video made me reconsider whether my next purchase would also be a OnePlus phone.

One plus Nord n10 user here. Had the phone for years now bought it as a cheap phone to get me by until I could afford a better one when I broke my old razer phone. Ended up not needing to upgrade and it is still working great for me. But I will say their is one bug that is superrrr annoying, sometimes the brightness of the screen will automatically lower to basically as dark as you can get it, and then it won't let you change the brightness until you fully restart the phone.

I noticed that it mainly started after they decided to finally join with Oppo. My oneplus 8T runs amazingly in Oxygen os 11, and I tried to update to 12 but the software was so bad I had to delete my data and rollback. Maybe its cause they combined oxygen with Color OS from oppo. Either way I refuse to update and I've been thinking about installing a custom rom like paranoid android, made by some of the guys who made the original amazing Oxygen OS, that even has the gestures that were exclusive to Oxygen with much better software. I am just waiting till the 8T version comes out of alpha and into beta to go and install it.

I had a Oneplus 5 for over 4 years and it was the best successor for my LG G2, also an amazing phone back then. When switching over to the next one, Oneplus wasn't really a choice, unfortunately, because of high prices (also, didn't want to downgrade to the Nord series). Ended up buying a Realme GT 5G (the cool yellow one) by the same price of my OP5 back then. I believe Realme is the spiritual successor to Oneplus (inside BBK), not counting "Nothing", for obvious reasons. My brother bought the Realme GT2, which is also a great buy. I really recommend Realme now instead of Oneplus or even any other brand. They're good, price is fair, cameras are great, software runs smoothly, great specs and good looking. Still, I hope Oneplus gets back on track.

Ive had a 9 Pro for about a year now, it's my first one from OP and I also came from a longgg line of LG phones! I'm so disappointed I couldn't continue, but I've found OP to be pretty similar but also with some new stuff I like. There's a lot of phones id love to try from smaller/other companies with innovative designs but I'd have to get a whole different service plan or buy the phone unlocked and get a SIM with minutes, etc.

I got OP8T as my first (and probably last) OP phone. OOS11 is good, it is best android experience I had at the that time of spring 2021. OOS12 ruined everything. Idk how come people talking about this just now, but when people talk about apple comparing to eveything else, it mostly goes down to software issues. Android phones always lack of good tuned software starting from basic functionality bugs and simple interface stuttering to complete disaster bugs breaking all system. OOS11 is still smooth and mostly fine (not without bugs tho), but 12 is a disaster. I rolled back to 11 after a week and my device feels good again, but if I was about to buy a new phone this year - I would have a really hard time to pick one. Honestly, I would be so desperate so I might even pick an iphone. That is what android phone manufactureres di to us.

@@kuroodo_ Having used both OnePlus phones, Samsung phones, and iPhones, this statement is just false on its face. iOS is less customizable, and I miss being able to access emulators without sideloading - but beyond that, the experience has been essentially flawless. Especially with the newer iPhones, there’s something on offer no android on the market can offer: insane battery life.

When I first got my hands on 1+1, I knew that this is gonna be something great. A bit later they launched 3T which I preordered. Absolutely loved the phone. I had 0 problems with the software or anything else really, and it was super cheap compared to other phones with similar specs. I then preordered 5T when it came out. Didn't need it, the 3T was still working fine but I wanted to support OnePlus and also get the little bit better camera. Everything after that didn't intrieve me so much, so I waited. Then came the 8 pro. It was definitely alot more expensive, but my 5T's fast charging stopped working so I decided to upgrade because of that, and also for the much better camera and display. Both the 3T and 5T I've handed out to friends to use and they are both still working fine. Even the 5T fast charging started working, not sure what was the problem. I'm still using the 8 pro but I'm gonna need a new one soon. The battery life has decreased significatly and I have weird bugs where the phone judt freezes for a while. When I lock the phone and open it again, it works fine. This happens pretty seldom, propably once every week or two weeks. Rarely more than once in a day. It's not because of any programs, because sometimes it happens even in home screen when just unlocking the phone. I loved OnePlus because it NEVER froze on me, had pretty close to 0 bugs and everything just worked like it was supposed to. I had an iPhone and Samsung flagships before that and they all had freezes, poor battery life etc. Didn't think OnePlus would ever be like that but I was wrong. My next phone propably won't be OnePlus unless they get their shit together.

I had a OnePlus 6 and all the updates were just about on time. Everything went well, if there were issues they were fixed quickly with new firmware. So at the end of it's life I moved to a Nord 2, I have had it for over six months now. It had one update soon after I got it to stabilize android 11 then one update to android 12 with the April security patch and that's it. I have been waiting and checking for months but no update. There are occasionally stutters in the system where the phone will freeze for a second or so. The mirror of my old OnePlus went very well though but since it's been down hill, I wish I had purchased a pixel 6a instead.

I'm so glad you guys are addressing this. I've had a OP 3, 6 and 8 pro, and with the latest OS12 update that merged in ColorOS, it kind of sealed the deal for me that I won't be buying another OP phone (unless they decide to switch back to Oxygen for some reason). It's been so sad watching them fall from grace. The only thing I disagree with is that I think OP HAS changed, a lot. They used to be pretty minimalist to save on cost. But over time, they started doing unnecessary brand deals with companies and celebs like Hasselblad and RDJ; spending R&D on gimmicky features most people will never ever use like an IR camera; shipping their phones bloated with apps I don't necessarily want like Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, Amazon, Prime video, Messenger, etc; spending more and more money on marketing instead of passing savings onto the consumer (which I guess I understand), and most importantly moving away from the stock android game which alienates some of their most important customers. The company was built on enthusiasts who loved their near-stock OS, and they're turning their back on that enthusiast foundation in hopes of drawing in a larger market. But I think that's going to backfire. Enthusiasts helped them grow by word of mouth, and now I think they're going to cause their collapse by word of mouth. At least in the US market.

The OnePlus 5t was the best phone experience I have ever had, even though I loved my note 9 and love my note 20 ultra. The 5t was special, I had bought a pair of them. One for me and one for my wife.and we both loved it to this day. The price creep has made it a non starter for me now, though I was considering OnePlus for my 2 year replacement Instead of a new contract. This does not give my the warm and fuzzies though.
