Have to be honest, the first time a DHMIS video was suggested to me in the olden days of KZbin, I thought it was about the condition of people who actually get scared by a hug or even the offer, so I ignored it for years until MatPat picked it up to say something on it. So, naturally, I did my research before seeing his theory, and loe and behold, I found my new favorite cartoon/puppet series about such deep and intricate subjects as media fake-till-you-make and health dieticians that had no idea what they were doing back in the 90s and early 2000's while I was growing up. It was a journey I treasure, and the new show is still quite funny and somewhat intricate. You can find it here on KZbin, but I will not name the source for their protection.

The primary message for most of them is that media manipulates you to behave and believe certain things, even if they make no sense. It constantly points to how everything isn't actually happening because it's all produced. Each episode has its own theme. You're only allowed to be creative in a certain way, Death is inevitable, how cults indoctrinate you by giving you a sense of community, addiction and dependence on the internet, diet culture constantly changing, and the last episode is kind of a mix but it's sort of red guy wanting to express himself and getting rejected for being individual which wraps up what the series is about. Not following the structure of life and what you're being told is the only way to behave.

Episode 6 was about dreams - for yellow guy it was sleeping dreams and for red guy it was dreams like goals. The entire kids’ show we’ve been watching was red guy’s dream, which was made possible by yellow guy’s dad, the investor, the financial side of things. But the guests/teachers brought on the show kept giving distorted lessons that pushed certain cultural beliefs or political agendas, and it left yellow guy with a twisted perception of these topics that ultimately hurt him instead of helping him. At the end of episode 4, we saw red guy walk in on a low-budget version of episode 1 and his mind was blown (literally) at the idea that maybe he didn’t need the funding, maybe he could have more control over how his dream was manifested, so he left. He tried to call yellow guy and duck in episode 5, to tell them that it didn’t have to be this way, but the message was intercepted. In this episode, yellow guy’s dad invites him back to the show, to have it run for another season maybe, but instead, red guy pulls the plug on the show and starts over, doing it his way. The set is nearly empty because they have little to no budget to work with, but each character is the color they said was their favorite in episode 1 and the date finally moves forward from june 19.

The factor that makes me love this series so much is the criticism it makes of social problems such as religion, cartoons, the internet, among others. we are introduced to these "teachers" who clearly teach the protagonists in the wrong way. There are many theories about it. Apart from the hidden things that you will only see if you pay close attention to every detail.

@@kishiberohan4038 In my interpretation, it's about how certain religions force their heteronormative way of loving onto others. Biggest example from the song being "He's made for Her, and She's made for Him. That's the way it's always been. And it's perfect, and it's pure," Very much saying that anything that doesn't fit within this box, or these guidelines, is the "wrong" way of loving (i.e, anything that isn't straight and monogamous).

When the plug is pulled, we can see three friends very similar to the previous ones, possibly their children, about to experience it all too.

I love how the whole thing comes together to be a metaphor for creating a kid's show. The red guy wanted to make a show, but had to get a producer to afford it. The dad paid for it, but forced his son in as a character, did rewrites behind the creator's back (the computer talking instead of the globe taking red guy by surprise), and forcing a very special religious episode. The religious song literally follows love bombing cult recruiting tactics. Later red guy realizes that computers will let him make the show on his own without the producer and it literally blows his mind. The songs and writing takes a nosedive when red guy leaves, and crow leaves to join red guy resulting in them having to write him off the show. So they then make their own independent show where the characters are color swapped to make them legally distinct.

Time is absolutely not a man-made thing. We invented the definition of the word, and all words for that matter, but time is a thing that would still exist if we didn't, and all the other animals that don't understand the concept of time like we do would still experience it all the same.

a lot of cult stuff is separation from loved ones friends or family and being like "we're the only ones that understand you" sorta. thats really vague and not nearly as in depth but it very much can be a gradual over time thing like how its shown in the episode where it starts off seeming fine then gets weirder a little bit more at a time and then next thing you know youre knee deep in it

At one moment you asked "Is there a meaning to all this?" The answer is no. At least that's what the authors said. But they said this as a reaction to Matpat's theory videos that the internet was obsessing over at the time. In hindsight, this show, to me, means to illustrate how children's tv content can go astray, especially in times of education decline among the producers of such tv content, how poor general culture can turn into a vicious cycle of stupidity across generations.

I think that this web series is about how most of the teachers(objects) limit what the characters can and can't do( telling them to be creative, yet saying not to like green or paint clowns. saying to eat food, but then saying you can't eat anything.) in fact, I think they drove yellow guy crazy saying what he could and couldn't eat to the point he was starving and ended up eating his own friend.

I also used to believe Red guy is the creator of the show, and worked with yellow guys dad not knowing his dad just wanted to punish his son, and eventually went crazy and realized that he was torturing yellow guy and yellow's dad told him to stop. almost like he was saying, "that's enough". this also makes sense as June 19th has been celebrated as Father's day for a while, and when the calendar page changes to June 20th, Yellow's dad no longer has control over it.
