lol wish I hadve known this earlier. I thought it was weird my tune would sometimes hit +/- high 20 degrees for ignition angle advancement. The car ran smooth 98.5% of the time and didn’t have a CEL so I didn’t worry too much about it. Fast forward a few months later and I just had the timing system overhauled since a guide decided it didn’t want to guide anymore one day after work.

Ignition angle & timing correction are related, but not the same thing. You can have the ignition angle be positive/"Advanced" or negative/"retarded." 20* of timing is not something that is out of the norm. This video is simply talking about timing correction from knock events, which in layman's terms would lower your ignition angle to reduce power output during a pull.
