WHAT AN AMAZING PORT!! Our First Time in St. Maarten - Harmony of the Seas

I love visitng a cruise port we have never been to before!! Today we are in St. Maarten for the first time! We did not make any plans, no excursions, so we just decided to hop off the ship, take the water taxi into town and go explore.
Let me say, this was such a better experience than we expected!! The water shuttle was a fun ride and the port was great! There was beach access with beautiful water... and a breathtaking view, lots of shops and restaurants... and bars. It is the perfect port to meader for the day and just enjoy the town!

I love St Maarten! I have very fond memories of the island. 20yrs ago my husband bought me a 3 carat princess cut diamond ring on the island for our 10th anniversary while sailing on Princess cruise line. He had it all pre-arranged prior to the cruise. We almost missed getting back on the ship because the jewelry store had to size it. The ship had a crew member come get us in a golf cart to get us back to the ship so we wouldn’t miss sail away. I spent the rest of the cruise just staring at my ring! Lol Good times!

And it's the second peak of the tourist season, so expect to have a great time. Fell in love with St. Maarten the first time I came here, and since then I keep coming back every year.

It’s been about 4 years since our last visit to St Maarten. We rented ATV’s and went on a tour all over the island including Maho Beach. It was a blast!

I have to tell you that your videos are so enjoyable to watch. You not only have so much fun with each other but with your friends and your engagement with the locals is amazing. Our last visit to St. Maarten on a Royal Caribbean ship was in 2005 and before that, I won't admit LOL. You might have missed St. Martin, the French side, but you clearly had so much fun on the Dutch side. Thank you so much for sharing ALL of your adventures with us. You are amazing!

Glad you liked it. We love St Maarten/Martin. Got introduced to it via cruise years ago. We love just vacationing there actually. 37 beaches, great food, easy to get around, and tons of great places to stay. Real easy to spend a week + there.

One of my favorite Caribbean ports! Although the water taxi is fun, know that it is a pretty easy (and free) walk down to the beach (town) where you were. Maybe a mile, if that.

We were scheduled to go to the USVI in January from Charleston but we canceled because so many ports were not allowing ships to dock. I'm really disappointed we didn't go. It's looks so beautiful. Thanks for this awesome video.

I've been to a few Caribbean islands. I have to say Saint Maarten is the MOST beautiful. Didn't go by cruise boats. Well no I take that back. 1 time was on a cruise to the Caribbean Glad you're having such a wonderful Cruise and time in St Maarten💗😘😏 p.s. if you ever go there by air. So you're not Landing in Port. And go off-grid if you will. You will find the most stunning Vistas. And gorgeous Islands. We rented a not a B&B I can't think of what it's called. LOL But it was definitely the most beautiful place💗 and as always safe and happy travels to you kids!💗

I cant believe with all your cruising you have not been to St Maarten before. It used to be a staple of every NCL eastern trip until they started going to Tortola. The only thing you missed on the French side was the airport which is a must see if you ever go back. People let the blasts from the planes throw them into the water. Jason would have had a ball :)

the famous airport is not on the French side St Martin... it is in Maho, Dutch side St Maarten

Oh looks like a ton of improvements made there! We got there right after the hurricane that hit St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and Puerto Rico and it was wrecked bad but we still took a tour and tipped well. Our tour guide talked a lot about the hostility between the governments of the two sides.

Love St. Maarten! You walked by our favorite “bright and shiny” store, Kay’s Jewelry! Archie always has the knack to “find” something in his shop that my wife needs! Ha! After a day in port, the Solarium on the Oasis Class ships IS the place to be during the sail-away!

One of our favorite stops in the Caribbean! Sometimes just fun to walk, bar hop and grab a beach chair, sometimes to take part in the 12 Meter America's Cup Challenge. Did that twice and will do it again on our next visit. Thanks for sharing the video.

Love St. Maarten! Have to tell a funny story from my visit there, I'll do my best to keep this semi short: A group of us went to Maho Beach, we had to take two cabs back to the port with a possible stop at a mojito bar we heard of. On the way back we were driving by a liquor store and my friend Emily who i was traveling with, needed to pick something up. Cab stopped, she got out and since it was a 1 lane, 1 way road we had to go around the block. Well we came around and Emily was gone. Workers said she got in another cab! Our cabby was worried and wanted to take us straight back to the port to see if she was there. What I didn't mention is that I gave Emily my wallet (with all my IDs and cruise Card) so I had no identification to get into the cruise port. I, however, had her backpack with her ID's and was trying to explain to them what happened. The cruise port security thought I stole the bag and was trying to access the cruise port. Luckily our cab driver saw what was going on, came over to back up my story. They let me in, but took me straight to the ship to verify my identity.. in a police golf cart with the lights and siren going through the whole port, out the pier, past where the line of like 100 people waiting to get back on the ship and to the employee gangway (pretty embarrassing lol). They looked up my picture on file, verified it was me but wanted me to get straight on the ship. I refused and said I wasn't getting on without Emily. So they let me stay in the port to wait, saw some people i knew and they waited with me. All aboard time was 4:30, it was now 4:10 and i was freeking out. About 4:15...here comes Emily with like 4 of our friends that we met on the cruise, all with Mojitos hooting and hollering lol. She's like....well i found a wallet so I treated everyone to Mojitos...lol HEREs WHAT HAPPENED: After she bought the liquor, a cab with other people we knew stopped and yelled her name, she got in with them! They went to the Mojito bar expecting to meet us there lol . When she got to the cruise port. The security knew all about her because of me...she had no problem getting in and we finally got on the ship. Loved the port...but would definitely like that last 45 min back...haha

Love St. Maarten too! My first cruise was on my honeymoon on the Dawn Princess 18 years ago. We did a shore excursion to a “clothing optional” beach. I can’t remember whether it was French or Dutch side…. We were too American to participate, but it brought people watching to a whole new level. 😊 🏝

Sint Maarten is so awesome. I was there 2 years ago and can't wait to go back. The people are unreal, never met such freindly people, musy be why they are called the freindly island.There was unrest on the french side 2 years ago. I wanted to booked but i was told there was alot of covid there right now, have you heard anything?

We were on the NCL Dawn in Feb. 2020 and went to St. Maarten and did the/a America's Cup race with two former A.C. boats and had a GREAT TIME - highly recommended! Just chillin' sounds great to me! With all the Covid nonsense, I'm fine with all sea days/cruise to nowhere - I just want to get back to cruising A.S.A.P.

We just had a cruise in Jan and St Martin was our first stop, we loved it!! If you go back again, make sure you get to the French side and try the yummy French pastries and also stop at Maho Beach to see the planes ( best time is in afternoon to see the larger planes) so much fun! We get to visit again in Dec , I think we will do what you did!

Was in St Maarten about 10 years ago on a cruise. Had a great time but did not see any of the island because we spend almost our entire time in port doing the Americas Cup Yacht race. It was a ton of fun but we always said we would like to go back. When we were on the Harmony in December we did the Western Caribbean itinerary, had a great time but would really have preferred the itinerary you guys are on just because the ports were more interesting.

On my first cruise to the Caribbean we stopped at St. Maarten and we ate at the Blue Bitch. Unfortunately I was the only one in our group that had a decent lunch. Everyone else had bad food and they all got sick after lunch. On a bright note all of us really enjoyed the beach that day. There is/was a pier further down the beach from the Blue Bitch and we had a lot of fun diving of of it.

Love St. Maarten, was there 2013 on the Freedom of the Sea. Did a ATV tour that also took us to the beach that one side was French and Dutch side. Of course one side is swimsuit optional. I will need to go back to St, Maarten, is looks like they have expanded the main area.

Just visited there over a week ago. Loved it! If you walk from the pier to town you pass a cheese factory! It was amazing. They give you samples to try. If you look where the rainbows are at. There is a dug away in the side of the hill When we where there it was raining and their where a lot of goats in that space. And if you walk over by the shipping container area. You can get your passport stamped.

That's one thing I was so disappointed to find out on my 2 Carnival cruises. They don't stamp your passport anywhere in the Caribbean (apparently) unless you ask & then go find the spot where someone might do it... like you have to treasure hunt to get it!! 2 cruises, 4 ports & still a blank passport :(

We found St Kitts also does passport stamping. It is right when you go through the gate to get back to the cruise dock. It is 10 feet away from the person checking your cruise ship card
