Great to see the bees emerging. The mason bees were late here nr Birmingham. In fact today the 30th there seems to have been an explosion of bees from bumble to Lasioglossum. We’ve been so excited and of course the predatory bees/wasps out too fascinating. You bank looks great and what a lesson you’ve been taught with that prevailing wind which will of course contain salt! Worth checking out local allotments maybe to give you some idea of what survives in your new planting conditions. Lots of good wildflower ground cover plants for your meadow. Or maybe change it to variety of sedums they’re great bee attractors and great for seaside conditions. Great catch up. I see you have upload two vlogs too. Off to watch the next one.

I'm thinking 🤔 you probably have most of the west coasts population of bee just in your garden 😁 keep up the good work Steve 👍🏻

thank you :-) Funnily enough, if you look on the population densities for red Mason bees there are none recorded where I live but there certainly are now :)

I got my first solitary bee resident in the hotel the other week! I actually watched it block up the hole with dirt, was wondering what will happen now, I presume there are eggs in there so how long does it usually take for baby bees to come out?! Thank you😁

so basically at the end of every year there are no solitary bees to speak of alive, they are all larvae in the chambers and will emerge next spring for red Mason days this will be April/May. :) x

What is the purpose of the little circle of rocks in the garden box?
@Calastein3 жыл бұрын
Just to stop the half-bottles covering the seedlings from blowing away or tipping over :)

I’ve been scared to set up a bee house because someone told me that parasites could get in and infect the babies. What are your thoughts on this warning?

That can happen sure, but in nature too but it’s rare even in large ‘colonies’ like mine and all part of the survival of the fittest.
