I will never get tired of how ridiculous the Watchers look in their battle armor. It's among the most comic bookiest comic book things in this show and I'm here for it.

In my opinion, the episode should have ended with God of Stories Loki showing up, slapping them all around the head and telling them to stop messing things up while he's holding the multiverse together with his bare hands.

The merged Watchers were giving off Living Tribunal vibes, or some variant of such. Peggy's final line really hit hard, too. Of all the things that may not have been set up in this season for the finale, that part was definitely built up for that payoff.

I love how the Watchers all ended up on the Moon, a fun reference to Uatu in the comics, where he observes Earth from the Dark Side of the Moon rather than overseeing the multiverse. Watchers do have a portal that acts like a TV allowing them to view into alternate universes, similar to what we see Uatu do in the What If...? comics and the show. The MCU, though, kind of treats Uatu and the other Watchers as fourth-dimensional beings who don't have variations across the multiverses. Implying that they oversee the multiverse, from the nexus to all realities. While in the comics they oversee a single reality, each Watcher other-seeing a differant sector of the universe.

Loved the finale. It felt like a Level 20 DnD fight in the best way. Using their elevated powers, while learning from the Watchers what they can do beyond that. And I like the overarching message they went with. I do like that some of the episodes are allowed to stand on their own. To just be a fun thought experiment and not have to tie into the "grander story". Also yes to getting all of those as skins/heroes in Marvel Rivals!

What If…Instead of more seasons of what if, we actually got The Amalgam Universe. The bridge between the Marvel and DC comic universes. Who doesn’t wanna see The Blind Bat; Devil of Gotham City and his girl wonder Spider Gwen. Or Kara Zor El and her infant cousin Kel El adopted by Steve and Peggy Kent. Super soldier agents of shield, who found the children in a crashed U.F.O that touched down in New Mexico. Carol Danvers, Earths Green Lantern. Wonderwoman Worthy of Thor’s Hammer. The Scarlet Speedster Flash, and his twin sister The Scarlet Witch. Lobo hunting Deadpool, while Deadpool is hunting Wolverine who is hunting Jimmy Olson as The Hulk.

We, the audience watching the show and reading the comics, are the ultimate Watchers. Without us, those stories wouldn't exist. They'd be cancelled, possibly fade into obscurity, a whole universe gone because we weren't watching. We are all Bastian and it's through us Marvel (and comics as a whole) become the NeverEnding Story.

This definitely works better as a series finale than a season finale, but it's still such epic cosmic fun and I loved the season as a whole so I'm not mad about it. Also, we got Byrdie and now I'm obsessed with Byrdie! Here's hoping for more down the road!

Adam said something about captain Carter sacrificing herself for the multiverse. I read it as (and criiiiiied like Jay at the most intense Bluey episodes when I had this thought) that she sacrificed herself to allow the multiverse to have a genuinely benevolent god. Someone who not only watches but occasionally makes things better.

So after discussing this finale with a friend of mine they said that this reads as a set up for a future show as Peggy has been sent somewhere else and will be part of a team who fixes or saves worlds from incursions

I feel like this show was so good and fun. Not the best thing marvel has ever done, but the high spots (the first Strange Supreme episode with Christine, Kahorri’s episode, Howard and Darcy, etc) were way up near the top of the list, and the whole thing even at its weakest was fun and engaging. Pretty much all I think we can ask for, truly.

As much fun as this season was the snippets of variants we see at the end would’ve been incredible. Samurai Ghost Rider, Moon Knight Blade, Sorcerer Supreme Maestro, Punisher Riri, Cowboy Loki, even just an episode of how that version of Storm got Mjolnir all incredible episodes we could’ve had.

Wild Wild Wild speculation here: Captain Carter's Shield is (technically) broken in half, and they send it through the multiverse So is there a chance (even small) that the Vibranium meteorite (both in Wakanda an in the ocean) are from the Shield? So as for why the Watchers only observe, it’s addressed in the comics and they decided to just not acknowledge it here. The spark notes are that the Watchers used to be a race of highly evolved mortal beings who shared their knowledge and technology with other civilizations, but when those other races started to wage war on each other, the Watchers decreed that they’d only observe the world, but never interfere. Also, the big head thing is just a feature of the species of the race that became Watchers. Other races that become Watchers don’t get them.

I think the crossover stuff in the first season was clever. But seasons 2 and 3 felt rote and obligatory, where just doing more stand alone what ifs with those episodes would have been more interesting.

I was pretty surprised that Marvel Rivals didn't immediately release these characters after this episode. I think they would make interesting additions. When it was announced that this was to be the final season, I was bummed. Then this season aired, and I wasn't bummed anymore. For the most part, this season was terrible. A couple episodes were ok, but overall it just was uninspired. I'd rather have had a season with the variants they showed us at the end of this episode. I mean, wow! I will say that the fight sequence in this episode was epic, but it was pretty much meaningless a you know that nobody could get hurt and fighting actually didn't matter. Looked great but no stakes. I would like this series to return in a few years and NOT have an over-arcing character, just one offs like the comic book.

My big hmm on this episode was How did Carter win? Does she have Green Lantern will powers now? Is there just more versions of her than can be erased? That would be the best explanation in my opinion, but there is nothing particularly creative or chaotic about her character to suggest that's how she won in the end? Was it an assist from Universe Strange? That was not a satisfying victory for me since I can't figure out how it was earned.

I'm really happy that you guys loved this show so much, in my bubble we were really disappointed from the get go, because we hoped for a Star Wars Visions/Love Death & Robots kind of show, with different art styles that boost the wildly different stories, but in the end we got okay-ish art style that didn't do anything and stories that had to fit together eventually. I hope the MCU evolves to the point where they do understand that not everything has to end up into a shared universe, that they can tell stories just because they're cool and that's it.

I do enjoy Byrdie and love Natasha but she just feels too much like a temu Jinx from Arcane haaha. The attitude, clothes, scratchy voice, the art in the ship etc, was a little too close for me. Even though the show didn’t go where I was hoping I still very much enjoyed this finale and most of the season (not episode 2 😅)

1:51 Why? I'll tell you. Like all things in Marvel's history, it all goes back to the comics. In this case, we're talking about Tales of Suspense #53, released in February of 1964. A story in this issue revolved around an alien race known as the Prosilicans. They were just blissfully unaware of the universe at large, when an advanced alien race (The Watchers) gave them a gift; how to harness nuclear energy! With it, the Prosilicans thrived and evolved. Unfortunately, it came with a price, the advent of Nuclear War. They created nuclear weapons to attack each other and nearby planets, eventually leading their war to Earth, until a Watcher named Emnu destroyed their civilization along with 90% of the universe by using the Ultimate Nullifier. This horrible event caused the Watchers to take an oath to only observe and never intervene in a universe's natural order. Tl;Dr: They f*cked around and found out, promising to never do it again.

It's a position the show put themselves in, more than anything. S1 and S2 had throughlines across their seasons when it came to their finale. S3 only kind of had Byrdie recur, and she was an egg/baby in her episode. S3 felt disconnected in comparison.

The stories in the episodes of the season really weren't the point. Besides Birdie and RiRi they were just build ups for Uatu to stop being on the sidelines all the time and to get called out on it. They could have done any story for those and bring in another character like they did with Thorm to replace Birdie.

(I red it a long time ago so I might not remember correctly) But in comic books they interfiered multiple times and had no problem with that, so the whole season plot made no sence for me and I didn't enjoy it.
