1) Do you have a recommended fence cut width? (if the boundary wire goes go around the edges of the fence opening I know it's a minimum 2 ft between boundary wires) 2) if you have the boundary wires going around the opening in the fence for automatic passage handling, what is the minimum distrance between the guide wire and right boundary wire if you have the guide wire offset to the right (instead of the middle) 3) if you have the boundary wire surrounding the opening in the gate, would you recommend automatic passage handling over corridor width?

Ideally we like to have at least 3 feet for any type of passage or corridor for the all of the Automowers except the AWD models. The AWD models should have even more room if possible to account for their "slithering" type of movement. When cutting a hole in a fence it is important to consider that the mower may approach the opening at a bit of an angle it and in that case it will need a wider opening. Think of it like a tractor trailer making a turn at an intersection and the way they have to take a wide turn and are unable to stay in a single lane like they do when they are traveling in a straight line. This is how Automowers handle going around corners as well. So the absolute minimum opening you can have would really depend on what model mower you have. Now, that being said, if this was something we were installing we would make the opening large enough for a 400 series mower to be able to come through the opening without issue even if you own a 100 0r 300 series mower. the reason for this is because there is always the possibility of upgrading to a 400 series from a 100 or 300 series and you will not want to have to cut your fence again. And making the opening larger than the absolute minimum that it can be is always better than making it too small and finding out that your mower can not get through it unless it is aimed straight at the opening.

Hi, I have installed a Guide wire for 310 mark II and the corridor setting is set to 6 (I have also used other options while testing - 9, 1 etc.). Yet, the mower never uses the corridor - it returns to the base going only above the wire. Any ideas?

Automower 310. No connect board added. Example: Front yard - AREA 1, Back yard - AREA 2. Front yard has a guide wire and boundary wire (60%). Back yard only boundary wire (40% mowing). Front and back are connected by narrow corridor via side yard with 2 sheds next to house. The corridor is about 24 inches wide, 24 feet long. Should I skip adding a guide wire in the narrow corridor? The wires would be REALLY close! How does the mower know the complete mowing area of AREA 1 without coming back through the corridor? How does the mower know the complete mowing area of AREA 2 without going through the corridor and going to AREA 1?

24 inches wide can be tricky. But luckily the 310 is small so it has that advantage in tight spots like you are explaining. If you do not use a guide wire through the corridor you may have to make one of the remote start locations along the boundary wire at about the middle of the corridor to force the mower to spend some time mowing in the corridor if it needs mowed as well. Otherwise use the boundary wire to set a remote start location in the second area.
