9:22 There are some factors that might make Furina's curse a bit different from the Khaenrians. Focalor placed a condition that ensured that Furina's curse would end and allow her to start aging again once Focalor's divinity vanished. While Khaenri'ahs' immortal curse is not supposed to be removeable or breakable. Also, Furina, during those 500 years, was still an oceanid whose body was in a near permanent human form because of Eugeria using the primordial sea water. As far as I can tell, Oceanids who did not get permanent human forms can't die. They simply become weaker and lose some of their intelligence under certain circumstances. While the fontainians can die and decay like a real human could, they were still elemental beings before the flood. This unique nature of pre-flood fontainians is why when they were exposed to enough primordial sea water, they would dissolve and revert into their true form, an oceanid. Furina's curse of immortality might be working alongside her nature as an elemental being, beings who can live for a very long time. I don't know what makes pure Khaenrians different from other humans native to the rest of Teyvat. But given that pure blooded Khaenrians have the emphasized four pointed stars for pupils and they get their own exclusive curse, it might be that they, like the fontainians pre-flood, are either not truly human or some other breed of humans whose composition works different from "real" humans, but similar enough that their curse of immortality does not stop the bodies from aging. It simply forces them to keep living in a body that is still aging and eventually decaying.
@NegolossauroАй бұрын
We must remember there is two different curses in the Khaenri'ah people, an old one and another new one gave during the Cataclism. While the regular Khaenri'ahns were just affected by the common curse of leaving your god behind, which transform you in a hilichurl and was already affecting them before the Cataclism, but they didn't know because they were living underground where is not considered Teyvat, the pure blood received the curse of immortality, as a punishment for the Cataclism, 500 years ago. Probably there is nothing special about the royalty, it's common in Genshin people from different region to have different physical properties, like only Natlantean can use flogist etc... they just have a different ancestry than regular Khaenri'ahns, which are descendents of different people that left their homeland in Teyvat, while the royalty must be descendants of the primordial civilization, basically the same thing with Remus and the remurians.

We've got Dainslief who as the Bough keeper is the literal walking embodiment of Irminsul. (Cursed with knowledge), Arlecchino being the descendent of the Crimson Moon Dynasty has the Balemoon Fire coursing through her veins. (Lost her empire and nobility). While Capitano has his physical appearance being deteriorated as he possesses the souls of the damned inflicted to him by Ronova (The Shade of Death. Personally I don't think the captain is lying due to the fact that his flesh is not gone, or at least I don't think it is an oversight on the writer's part. Perhaps the curse of immortality does not cease your bodily functions, but just prevents death, and his body did not rot, but instead aged as if he lived for 500 years as a mortal. Or maybe he just found a way to slow the rotting or smth idk. Have a good day :3

Well, Dainsleif said that the curse of immortality replaces you, slowly. So it's likely that much of Capitano's body is replaced by something else, not just rotten to ashes.
@anetepaulakrinicka7830Ай бұрын
Guys, I have a theory. What if he is rotting, not because he is slowly dying, but he is slowly turning into Abyss monster. Abyss knight Servents were Khanrians before they comsumed ton of Abyssal powers. Kaeya has similarities with Cryo Abyss mage. And Dainsleif hand is corrupted by Abyssal powers. I have a feeling, that Pierro or Dottore are the ones that keeps treating Capitano to not prevent transform into Abyss monster and reason Pierro accepted Childe into rank, was not because of him survivning in Abyss, but of him able to transform into Legacy form and turn back normal. So Childe is kept to research to figured it out so Capitano could do that same without going insane and joining in Abyss force. I have a feeling that we gonna kill Dottore when he sucsesfully burns down Imirsul or he acidently erases himself and does not remembers who he is. And at 6.X Capitano could not handle Abyss powers too much and turns into a Abyssal dragon (dragon, because his claws gives me dragon vibe) And then we have to fight against him to purify him to safe Snezhnaya from preventing Abyss entering in.

@ej4346Ай бұрын
At first, I thought the Capitano = Bloodstained Knight theory is now off the table. But upon careful thought, it actually is more feasible than ever. I'll try to explain as briefly as I can. BK is powerful Knight of Favonius that is obsessed with justice. He slaughtered monsters until he was stained black, where people began to fear him. Supposedly, he joined the Abyss due to the injustice done to Khaenri'ah. But as we now know, Khaenri'ah actually fought against the Abyss. So it doesn't add up to join the Abyss for the sake of Khaenri'ah. In fact, he fought the Abyss and became one of the knight commanders of Khaenri'ah. We don't know yet the reason why they were cursed, but we do know there are 2 kinds of curses of immortality in Khaenri'ah. Piero, Dainsleif, and Clothar are pure-blooded Khaenri'ahns, but what happens to those that are not, say a knight originally from Mondstadt? They turn into hilichurls. And this explains why Capitano wears a mask and thinks his flesh is deteriorating, it's the same reaction as when Caribert saw his reflection. It also explains his hatred for the Abyss, and thus his desire to save Natlan.

It seems like most people interpret the curse as the body erodes but doesn't disintegrate. It gets infected with something akin to abyssal energy and the body becomes distorted, warped, mangled. Capitano still has a solid body that can be obviously hurt so him being basically nothing under the suit and helmet would not make sense. While on the topic of the three (four if Kaeya counts) Khaenri'ahns we've met. Three out of four have some kind of half mask or eyepatch. Could this have something to do with Odin who sacrificed his eye in order to gain wisdom? Is that perhaps what keeps Dainsleif and Pierro from showing the physical effects of the curse? Did they offer their eye for a secret?

Its easier to assume that both Dain and Peirro have connections go the abyssal powers considering Dain is able to use abyss order's portal networks, and even use spells. Ehile Peirro was the one who sent Scaramouche into the abyss, then made him run errands related to Abyss- like that one time from Reconciling Stars Event- Overall it's safe assume that those who have link with abyss seem to have unusually powers snd abilities that also gives them immortality. Plus i would also like to add that, Capitano's hazy-back hint on his cryo powers is eerily similiar to Arlecchino's Black red bood-debt. Perhaps her curse is also one of a kind.. Also the fact that they call this curse in two different ways, *"Curse Of Immortality"* For pure breeded Khae'nrians and *"Curse Of Wilderness"* For half-bloods or immigrants of Khae'nrians...

We know a fair bit about the curse and what the "it" Dain talked about is !! For the curse erode the mind and the body. It denies death to the barer. It seems its fondamentally different from Focalors curse. The specificities are different. One was from a god and the over from a shade who are more akin to Aeons. Capitano is likely looks like Dainsleif eroded arm. Or white walker from game of thrones they too were denied death and are immortal. As for the "it" in the Pari quests in Sumeru we are Informed that Dain left Khaenri'ha clutching a ring. Thats likely the it. The "Ring of Nibelung" perhaps ? Like the play ?
@blastchaos4286Ай бұрын
My thoughts are that the Curse of Immortality was given specifically by the Shade of Life, and the reason Capitano is dealing with the Shade of Death is because only a Shade's power can contend with another Shade's power.

I think we've actually seen 2 different curses of immortality at least. One probably comes from the shade of death and "prevents death", but nothing else (the cursed person suffer symptoms like Capitano); this should be the one used on Khaenri'ahns. The other comes from the shade of life and has the power to "extend life", and this should be the one Foçalors used on Furina, since she doesn't suffer the symptoms that Khaenri'ahns present. It would also make sense since the shade of life and created the first Hydro archon. Maybe they gave the hydro archon that power so she could save Fontaine, similarly to how Ronova gave Xbalanque a power to save Natlan.

Funny enough Jean have a voice line about Khaenriah, she said that the king of Khaenriah is "Heroic". It would be kinda Ironic if the Khaenriah bloodlines turn out to be demigods considering how much they dislike the gods, maybe that's the reason why Dainsleif and Pierro looked different compared to Capitano, maybe "it" is referring to their bloodlines.

I think the "rot" Capitano mentions isn't literally rot. I think he is talking about the "infection" or rather the "colour change" of his body. Dainslief has a whole blackened arm with blue vein-like patterns. I think the "rot" Capitano mentions refers to this. This explains why he mentioned he didn't know how Dain kept his "rot" under control. This might also explain why Capitano is described with dark blue eyes. As the blue vein-like "rot" could be around his eyes. As well as most if not all the khaenri'ahns we see have blue eyes (except Arlecchino but I don't think she fully counts) As for Pierro, I don't know. He does where a black mask thing on the side of his face, his eye being covered by a blue star. So that could be his "rot" yet he doesn't show it so I'm not sure.

Dainsleif said his first curse allowed him to retard his transformation into Hillichurl People who tried to leave Kaenri’ah turned into hillichurls it was during Sorush quest. But first people like Puerere and Perineri (Capitano) were already cursed by something and were about to rot. Arlecchino controls her curse but that wasn’t the case of Capitano.

i heard some say Dain could by slowing the curse by carrying is brother ring (The ring of Nibelung) and Pierro could have been helped by Tsarista herself possibly by frozing the "rotting" of his body...or something similar since possibly archons authority comes from the power of the heaven Also it makes no sense to me for Capitano NOT to mention Pierro in this case, ok Scaramouche told us and now he is "gone" but the Traveller can lie, so maybehe couldn't have asked him because he would have gotten suspicious BUT HOYO GIVING US SOMETHING ABOUT HIM YES

I was always under the impression that "IT" that Dainsleaf referred to was the Anarana thing that saved that NPC in that looooong Summeru forest quest. Where basically they sacrifice their own memories to save someone. Especially since Dain and the Abyss sibling were with them 500 years ago and they did say they performed that ritual 500 years ago
@ashy969Ай бұрын
09:22 - Focalors' curse is different. She deliberately set a curse breaker. That once she dies, Furina gets to live freely because she surved hee purpose well. In case of the Khaenri'ahns, this curse was meant to be a punishment lasting until eternity. Dains for sure has something that helps him, as he was talking about "it". He also has a power not resembling any element or the abyss. 12:17 - the power from beyong he talks about is likely not to be used ahainst the curse itself, but against Celestia. And likely he talks about us. The power and will of a descender. As rhe trailer of the game is about the chapters of our journey and not his personal issues... It should be pointed out, that the blue eyed Khaenri'ahns belong to the Eclipse dynasty, who prefered to use machines and not khemia. But before them, the Crimson Dynasty prefered to use khemia to create and operate things. And the only one whe know is from that dynasty is Arlecchino, who has different eyes and probably a different form of the curse. She basically cannot die either, as she can use blood dept to revive herself, but the "curse" does something to her body when she uses her powers. And Dain (or Capitano) said nothing about the Crimsons...But we have no other of them, and the one who we do, Arlecchino is on the road to revange.... So, maybe what keeps Dain and Pierro "fresh" on the outside has to do with this power the crimsons used... Khemia... Pierro being a mage might means he can use some khemia tricks, but if so, why didn't he help Capitano? His No.1... maybe because whatever makes a difference is within him and Dain. Maybe it is their degree of will power or.... Something else they cannot just share.

Even if we talk about Pierro being somehow cryogenically preserved by Tsaritsa like Signora, I find it really strange that he didn't mention that. Like "One of my pals also didn't deteriorate but he got his ahh refrigerated by Tsaritsa" or some shit like that. So I tend to think he is lying. Add to that, a lot of info Capitano gave to Mavu was strange. Like how the fuck did she not know about those three guys that simply live in reclusion when she has info on literally everyone in Natlan. Or he is just being dramatic and by "flesh still rots" he means that he is simply getting old just like Pierro and under that mask he looks like an old ahh man like him

Scientists, as someone mentioned, as very similar to names of 3 historians from Simulanka. So, there is already sus parallel. I agree with theory that Cap had some deal with Ronova, and is serving as some sort of souls container (like what Ororon was used for but failed), and preserve souls of fellow khaenri'ahns. And that is why he rotting so fast. Also reason why Ororon felt similar to "soul escaping" when Cap was wounded. And then in cutscene Cap looked at his chest wound and asked Ororon "you heared something from here..". Like if there is hole in his body container and souls might try to escape, as happened with Guthred, due to Lord of Night scream. Basically Ronova turning him into grim reaper, to redeem sins of his kin, smth like that.

Maybe this is just me but like, there's dialogue in a Sumeru WQ that might help with Dainsleif... Zurvan: Half of his body had become that of a monster, but I did not sense an aura of monstrosity in him. When I discovered him, he was holding a ring tightly in his hand. Zurvan: I brought him back to the sea of flowers, and when he awoke, he claimed to be a Dahri swordsman who had only survived because he had been cursed. I am a firm believer that "it" is meant to be that ring - and that said Ring is also what keeps Dainsleif at bay.

Arle is from one of the royal bloodlines and she has those dark flames, we know that exists at least one more lineage, Captain could be a decendent of them, since he has the dark ice, and since Arle also suffers from some corruption, this could be the reason the Captain is in such a state, too much use of the cursed power.

I think the blue eyes are more of a creative liberty rather than a plot point that is consistent with the world's logic. The same way you can't see Caputano's face despite half of his mask being literally open. Just story/Teyvat logic, you need to be able to separate plot driven logic and creative liberties. In Genshin, "rots" or "eroding" takes an abstract form that can't be equated by real life world logic bacterial deteoriation. It just serves a purpose to whatever the game is trying to do. The game seems to imply that the soul cannot leave the body, and that they are denied death. Whatever the form the body is deteoriating into could be anything, but the game have not erected a full-picture of this logic yet.

Some food for thought - maybe Dain's "mask" is not actually a mask but his actual skin. In the mortal travails trailer his right hand has the same colour scheme and markings as the blue patch on his face. However, in game his right hand is completely covered by his suit. I presume that it might be the effect of forbidden knowledge/abyssal power that he uses.

How about Dainslief is actually the twelfth Harbinger, undercover to Pierro? Pierro was a royal Madge in the court of King Irmin before he became head of the Fatui. El Capitano says he knew of Dainslief and how angry Dainslief is. Don’t forget Gold. Rhinedaughter. She was one of the sinners and a Khaenri’ahn. (The only female Khaenri’ah in the game.) Then there is Dainslief telling us 2/3 of the way through the game about his older brother Veldrfolnir a sinner and a royal Madge of Khaenri’ah. So Pierro and Veldrfolnir knew each other? They were all Khaenri’ah friends? Pierro and Veldrfolnir may have planned something and Dainslief was either in on it and had older brother issues? At any rate Dainslief is a liar and I believe the real bad guy in the game! Dianslief was the Boughkeeper to Irminsul and used magics, spells and potions (given him by Pierro) to manipulate the traveler and make them think they were the abyss prince/princess when they were not! At any rate, I have never liked Dainslief from the very beginning and always thought him suspicious! 😊

@Pat005proАй бұрын
To be fair, none of the hilichurls turned to bones over time so maybe the "rotting" isnt decomposing but transformation of some sorts hence the Mika line and Capitano line could still both be true. The fact that he has blue eyes could also just be indicated by his elemental power since he uses (corrupted, but still) cryo power. If I'm remembering correctly the Lawachurls have the the same eye color as their element although those are purely of their respective colour, but maybe Capitano's rotting just hasn't gone that far. Feel free to respond if you disagree with me

i don't think he means "rot" in a literal sense like how corpses rot. i think he refers to corruption, like Dain's arm in his splash art. Wait a second, if The Captain has the curse of immortality, then why did The Captain said to ororon that he shouldnt have saved him and instead be perished by Pyro archon (does that mean that pyro archon is able to bypass the immortality curse)?
@amouramarieАй бұрын
My current baseless assumption is that the Tsaritsa is 'preserving' Pierro and the Fatui (who may all be dead. Sure, Signora died, but there was nothing left of her body to preserve after Raiden dusted her.) As for why the Captain is rotted, could just be that he was already decomposing before he joined up with the Fatui, during the years he spent in Natlan, and the Tsaritsa couldn't preserve flesh that was already gone. Dain, probably the Ring of Nibelung is best guess at this point as for what the "it" is. Also, HELL YES, give me ALL the Dain is sus and can't be trusted hints, hoyo. I do not trust that guy at all.
