Wow. In my district elementary just has music, art, pe, and library.

Same. This video makes me wish I went to a place that offered more for elementary schoolers, especially considering that could’ve helped me decide on electives once I got to high school (when I had so many options I didn’t know what to pick!)

same here. we didn't always do music or art though. we did do pe class everyday and of course library. speaking of, did anyone else have to do these AR tests as like some kind of "proof" you read the book?

I’m so happy that all students at your school are exposed to such diverse opportunities. 😊 Is this a public school? If so, kudos to the taxpayers for understanding the importance of a well rounded education for every child. I taught for 15 years in various states and my students never had anything close to these opportunities. They were lucky if they had music, art, and PE once a week or so. Yay for your school!

My school was no fun. I grew up and I got a job. I took dance classes, art classes, music classes and got myself a library card and joined the book club. I went to adult gymnastics. The great thing was most of these classes were full of people who were twice my age and encouraged me. They made these activities more fun than school ever was for me. Since moving to Texas there is nothing to do. I spend my time reading and writing. I am learning Mandarin which is something I always wanted to do and decided to go for it this week. I bought a book to help me learn how to write the words, I have two apps (one for reading stories in Mandarin and the other that is pronunciation lessons for the book I bought) and I am getting a membership for Rosetta Stone in a few weeks. I am too excited for words.

For my 4-6 grade school in the '90s, Enrichment was Math or Language Arts for the "smart kids". I was in the Language Arts and just missed out on Math. It was great, mostly because of the awesome teacher.

Our local schools cut out all art and music in elementary level😢. Once a week they take a cart around and kids can pick an instrument like a triangle or tambourine off the cart to play for 30 minutes. Or coloring books or paint. It's sad really. We do online school now and they actually get more enrichment classes this way. Sounds like your school is doing it right ❤

That’s so funny at my high school those were called electives and enrichment stream was for the academically challenged. Extension stream was for the gifted students.

Yup! When I get take out and forget to tell them I don't need the plastic cutlery, I take them to work and re-use them a bunch of times, but also don't have to feel bad when they inevitably go missing.

I am a Colorado native! I graduated high school in 2023 so only around 2 years ago. When I was in elementary school, our "specials" usually consisted of library, Spanish, art, computers, music, or Gym. Which would alternate daily/weekly. I remember being excited to see art or library written on the board for the day! Not just because it was easy, but library was super fun as a little kid. Something about group reading and getting to check out books, was very memorable! Kind of like an elementary friendly black Friday but for the coolest books.

Your enrichment options sound amazing. We have art, P.E., music, library, technology, and STEM. My kids each have their favorites, but I'm definitely looking forward to the wider variety of special interest classes and/or clubs in middle school. I was a band nerd and am crossing my fingers one of the kids will fall in love with music...no matter how painful it will be to listen to them practice their instrument! 😂

This is an impressive for an elementary school! Some of those classes I would have only taken in middle or high school.

Here, in my area of Washington state, we call them specialists and there's just PE, music, and library. Some schools have art, and some schools break up music into choir, band and orchestra for the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.

I'm Canadian and was in elementary in the 80s and 90s. Part of our curriculum was French class. I have "je suis un ananas" (I am a pineapple) burned into my head because we mostly watched a show that taught French by a pineapple puppet 😂
@tamaraeellis6314Ай бұрын
I never took French but my sister did (I took Espanol) but I can say I am a/n apple, carrot, flower, president, and a few others 😂. I know a few other misc sayings too but I now want to know the pronunciation of ananas in French!
