Thank you for your video! Very informative. I'm starting my new career as a ER Tech in October! I'm so excited! I was formerly a Medical Assistant! I am going to go back to school to get more education and skills to be a outstanding employee!

The ER at the hospital that I applied to work at has a mix of students, CNAs and EMS providers as techs.

Thank you so much for this video! You were very detailed, but not so much that it sounds complicated! I'm an EMT for a private ambulance company and i'm considering either going to 911 or getting a phlebotomy license and being an ER tech for a while

New sub here. Great video! Just wanted to point out that some of those duties vary by State to State. And also depends on the facility. In Michigan, at least at most of the hospitals that I worked at as an ER tech if you don’t have a phlebotomy license or you don’t know how to do it, it really doesn’t matter because it is part of the training. They teach you how to do it because it’s literally our job. The nurses in the ER mainly pass meds, and of course everything else that comes with being a nurse. But as far as drawing labs, casting, splinting, inserting IV’s, foleys & Straith Catheters, really everything besides passing meds and doing sutures & staples (tho we assist with them, and we can remove them), is the tech’s job so you will be trained on it.

ER tech can do more or less depending on the state/city/hospital. This video is based on what I saw inside my old Trauma Hospital in Southern CA

Thank you for the point , I was considering if I can apply to ER tech without EMT license.

Nowadays, most hospitals require u to have emt license and prior ema experience. Some might not require it, but u have to compete with people who r emts and medics for the position

Four patients! What nirvana ER are you working in?! Our nurses have 6-7 patients.

California had laws that cap nurses to patient ratio for patient safety. Other states have different ratios.

What is the difference between ED and Er tech?

Same, just a different saying. ED = Emergency Dept. vs ER = Emergency Room.
