I've had a completely different experience. My beliefs about a dream character don't matter once I'm lucid. They all act in different ways, seem to have their own personalities, and I've even encountered reoccurring ones in back to back lucid dreams that were shocked I remembered their name they told me from two or three dreams before hand. Some seem to be much more intelligent than others. I've had some tell me when I question them things like: "My first memory was of you when you were ten years old.", "I am the blood in your throat.", and when I asked one about others who were standing still with their heads down like deactivated robots if they were real dead people he responded, "Some of them would like to be.". When you go lucid, depending on the lucidity, things get weird. I honestly think that their are the equivalent to AI programs inside your psyche that may control lesser 'NPC' like dream characters according to the dictation of the unconscious.

That is absolutely false. I sleep on my side. Where that false information likely stems from is WILD. Many people are under the wrong impression that to do WILD you need to go through sleep paralysis. You //can// go through sleep paralysis, and it's a viable way of conducting WILD, but some people like myself prefer to skip that step. Now the reason I bring that up, is that for those who are trying to induce sleep paralysis, it's easier to do when laying on your back than on your side. So people who think the sleep paralysis step is necessary then assume that perhaps sleeping on your back is necessary - and that's basically where that information got started. There is however a time when laying on your back might be preferable, and that's if you find yourself falling asleep too fast when performing any given lucid dreaming technique. If you can't stay awake long enough to perform the technique, then sometimes switching to a position you don't normally sleep in is enough to keep you awake throughout the duration.

I had my first unintentional lucid dream yesterday, I have been in Poland for the past 4 days but I really live in NJ so when I had a false awakening in my bed at home I instantly realized that it was a dream. It was my first one and I was extremely excited since about a year earlier I had been trying for weeks to get it to happen. So realizing I was in a dream I instantly realized what was going on and had some fun. Anyway it didn't last too long but when I regained feeling of my physical body and left the dream I was sleeping on my side.

I did know about the technique about asking for an object behind you in a lucid dream and last night I had one a few hours after watching this video. I asked for two Ferraris to be behind me- one for me and one for a friend. My friends one looked like a red sports car but not a Ferrari and My one was like a mini fire truck that could be used as a sports car! It was fun driving round because I've never driven a car before. I didn't visualise what the Ferrari would look like and that's what my subconscious produced. It's funny after waking up noticing how the dream world works!

To spawn a character I just scream I want (name of person) to be here with me. And they usually spawn right behind me or behind the next corner. This worked for me once when I tried it. I also had a lucid dream last night and it was weird because I realized I was dreaming in a room full of people and I screams I’m dreaming right now. They tried to convince me I wasn’t and I was like yes I am and I walked through a mirror and they all freaked out and started chasing me and I got so freaked out and I ran to another and barely locked the door before they could get in. I only ever had one experience with a dream character that still reminds vivid. I forgot what name he took on, but he was a roommate of mine that I lived with for quite some time.. the dream seemed to last a couple of weeks, all the time I am acknowledging my life with this guy, leaving in the room beside me, being a really cool down to Earth guy. We never disrespected each others privacy, but we would hang out on occasion, all those times genuine. Before I became extremely lucid and aware of the fact that he was a product of my subconscious, we were hanging out in my room. I was opening up to him about issues I had with letting go of my ex girlfriend, and he was giving me the best advice ever, advice that was very healing to hear, and very affirming. It eventually snowballed to the point that I became aware that I was dreaming, and I became aware of him being a product of my subconscious, and that's when he began to laugh and tease me in a way. It was quite interesting, and helped me reflect on the fact that sometimes the answers are within us the whole time.

In my first lucid dream, my dream sister came up to me and was like 'wtf are you doing' and i told her i was in a dream, (and im pretty sure i didnt think she would act weird) and she literally just went "OMG THATS SO COOL!" which is probably the most in character i've ever seen my dream sister lol. but i did try too hard to ground myself even though i was in my house so i woke up :( also i feel like if i tell a character or person that i have a *positive* opinion of that its a dream, they wont fight me or act creepily, but if i have a *negative* opinion of the character or person, they will act creepy or try to hurt me or just have a generally unfavorable reaction. also i should probably stop thinking that if i blink then i'll wake up because that means it will happen.

Go to sleep earlier. Sleeping only 5 hours 30 minutes a night is unhealthy, and even more so if you're still school age, as at that age you're growing, and sleep affects your hormone levels which are involved in your growth. Not getting enough sleep means significantly lower hormone levels, which can stunt your growth and do a whole host of other unpleasant things. If you can't change the time you wake up (i.e. are forced to wake up at a certain time for work/school) then you need to change the time you go to sleep instead.

Broken Down There's no real harm in it, but it can be pretty terrifying. If you are pretty decent at lucid dreaming you can experience Sleep Paralysis, which is where you wake up and are practically paralyzed and a lot of the time there will be shadows moving around your room

Yes the same method can be used. If you have trouble believing that such a character would appear, then do anything you can to set the scene. Make the conversation about something that this character would talk about. Try it in a location where you'd be likely to find them too for a higher chance of success.

I’ve had about 4 lucid dreams now, and I every time I enter the dream world the same thing always happens: 1. I become aware of my surroundings 2. I grab onto things to stabilize the world 3. Ive gotten amazing reactions while lucid. Some say they are conscious, some freeze up and stare or avoid eye contact. Others are too bizarre to explain. I find you can spawn people by slowly moving your hand down with who you want to summon. Although at times its not the person you want. Flight is amazing, you have to almost feel like your flying instead of thinking about it. Sometimes I can fly up quickly at other times it’s harder and slower.

question for you: what are your thoughts on dream characters that are aware that they are in a dream. for example, today i had a lucid dream, i told a few dream characters that they are in a dream, they didn't believe me at first but i spawned some things that left them confused. later this woman approached me and said something like "dream characters are weird, aren't they?". I was surprised and asked her how was she aware of this all and she said something along the lines of "oh it's pretty easy to do". lol. thoughts?

I had my strongest lucid dream like a month ago using WILD (2nd time I succeeded). I wanted to hook up w/ a cute girl from work. I also found it'd be hard to spawn someone in front of my eyes. So, I created doors, like in the hallway of a hotel room. And I said in my mind/intention that "behind one of these doors, there will be a cute girl from work! Idc which one! Just one of them!" And sure enough one cute girl from work was there and it didn't go very far. But that was super cool!

I almost managed to LD earlier today, but after awakening in REM after having a dream, my traitor stomach and bladder made me lose it. I got up and ruined my REM, what's worse is my sleeping cycle is non-existent. Is there a limit to when I can can wild? A time? I find that I can be still and drift in and out of consciousness for an hour or more, and I simply can't fall asleep!

Getting up to use the bathroom or eat won't break you out of REM. You can actually stay up for a fairly long time during REM and go right into a lucid dream after. Don't worry if it takes you an hour or so to get back to sleep, I find the same happens to me a lot and it's never caused me any issues. Now if you got up for several hours that might be different, but an hour should be fine.

One time I was talking to a dream character that I know in real life and this person is kinda rude to me. Well anyway, I asked they felt, expecting them to say “Happy” or “Good” but they said sad.
