These worms are a nightmare! I brought in a bulk delivery of compost 3 yrs ago to refresh all of my garden beds and now I have them everywhere 😮 they actually destroy the roots of some perennials. I am constantly picking them out of the soil from all around my property. I no longer leave leaf litter to compost. I really hope there's a solution soon.

That's exactly what I was thinking use them for something rather than just killing them. I'm sure he could sell them since there are so many for fishing.

We use tea seed oil! Lightly cultivated in top soil, in planting mix, or in bucket in place of alcohol/gas. Sadly I think it also effects slugs/salamanders but tea seed has worked the best so far

I saw one crossing my yard, at first glance, I thought it was a snake. When I got closer and picked it up, it was a worm similar in size and look aside from an extra bit of Iridescence. I wonder if it would make good fishing bait...

It's so annoying I have been telling people about them for 4 years now but people just dont believe me. The worst is the people who supposed to know about them don't. For instance landscaper and arborist.

You can't have too many red wigglers. The more you feed them the more you will have. But, that just means they will break down the food faster. AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT JUMPING WORMS.

How do you kill them?

There are different ways. When you pick them you can toss them into bucket with isopropyl alcohol. You can put them in a clear plastic bag and place it in the sun for several minutes. I usually do the alcohol. But, don't compost them...put them in a bag with your weekly trash. Good luck.

@@fingerlakespreppergrl it's actually recommended that you refrain from feeding these worms to livestock. They have greater amounts of heavy metals that you can ingest if you eat from the poultry..eggs, meat, etc. Also, you should not use them for bait. For the same reasons plus, you don't want risk spreading them from location too location.
