Thanks for sharing Rebecca. I understand that there aren't enough resources available for proper naming and studies in the current format of the hobby. Maybe it's time for the governments of each collection point of each fish to step in and require it for export. If everyone in the hobby, from the collector, exporter, importer, wholesaler, seller, buyer, and manufacturers related to the hobby, chip in, maybe we can actually all call fish by the same name without exception. I don't much care for the current free for all... Fish names for the sake of making a dollar irritate me very much.

There is some legislation in some countries regarding if a species is described from there I think they have to be deposited in their museum. The issue with hobby sources is there needs to be a reliable location, coordinates and fishermen are unlikely to give that away. If they do there is a chance it might not be that batch or the wrong locality. It's really difficult but the way it is.

I don't know, I have a few friends that have had species named after them. I actually prefer more mythical names or names that describe the appearance of the species.
