What are monomers and polymers?

A monomer is a chemical building block that can be linked to other monomers to form a polymer. These polymers can then be used to make new plastics.
In chemical recycling processes, the polymers in waste plastics are broken down into their original monomer form.
By using the polymers in waste plastic as an above-ground resource to manufacture recycled monomers, we can create new, high-quality plastics and divert plastic from landfills.
