Should you need all of your teeth replaced by some prosthesis, those false teeth would be on a normal denture which you take in and out. The advantage of the denture is that it's only about $1,500 to $2,000.
Its disadvantage is that in the bottom jaw the bone tends to shrink quite quickly, so that a lot of people have trouble eating with the bottom denture - it's clacking around, they fall out when they're laughing, they can't eat apples.
If you have those problems or should you wish something alternative, two implants in the bottom jaw is a highly predictable procedure for retaining a denture. So if your concern is that your teeth are moving around everywhere and are loose, then two implants can allow quite a firm grip of the implant, so you won't need any denture glue.
In contrast, if your concern is that every time you bite on foods your gums are sore, that you've got so much recession and shrinkage of the bone and gum that there's no support given to the gums, you may actually need something more in the form of a fully fixed prosthesis. This is four implants permanently retaining an acrylic bridge.
The number of implants is really dependent on your situation. Whether it's four or six in the top jaw does depend on how many teeth you want placed back there and what's on the lower arch. If you've got natural teeth down here that's going to put more load on these top teeth, so you're probably heading towards six implants on the top jaw. If in contrast you have a denture down the bottom that's chewing on this, they're not going to give as much force against this appliance up the top, so we may decide that four implants are sufficient to hold that sort of prosthesis. Other people that are really abhorrent about the whole idea of ever socially having to remove teeth really would go for a fixed prosthesis and that may be in the form of more implants.
So a number of factors are considered when you're planning the full arch to be replaced by teeth that are held onto implants. Primarily, what are your concerns that we're trying to address and how much benefit is this acrylic flange giving to your cosmetic profile with the plumpness of the lip? So you really need a consultation in combination with CAT scans to determine have you got enough bone in the right areas.

There are plenty of dentists worldwide who provide excellent care and who can provide you with new implants for a lot less than they charge in Australia, US, UK or Canada. I myself am looking toward going to India, Thailand, Malaysia, Romania or Croatia. Each one of these places provides first class treatment without the need to sell a child or a body part. Lol

The first few weeks of eating with a bottom denture are a pain, but with a good set of dentures and the right adhesive you eventually get used to it. I use poligrip and it works just fine.

I can totally relate. I have Lupus and other auto-immune diseases which have devastated my teeth and it has made my depression so much worse. People make so many judgements about what type of person you are by your teeth and always assume the worst. I have become a recluse and have very few foods I can eat because of all the broken and missing teeth. At times I actually wish I would die because of my teeth. I dont want to live anymore if this is how my teeth will be and become worse.

Most of the implant type work described in the video is considered 'cosmetic dentistry' for insurance policies - especially since the cheaper dentures offer "essentially the same thing" the only benefits being considered cosmetic by bean counters. The 80/20 type usually has a limit based on what category the procedure falls into. A yearly cap of 'X' and a lifetime max of 'Y' is what they will pay.

Being a competent dentist is very very difficult, and even the best find their work unsatisfactory at times. It is no different from any other difficult job except in many cases only the dentist knows if the work is acceptable, very good, or excellent. The work is also, always subjective. I've seen work done by dentists that is crap, but the patient thinks it is wonderful and loves the dentist, all because the patient is incapable of determining good work or bad, but knows the doctor was kind, caring and sincere. To a patient who cannot measure the quality of work in their own mouth, the only thing of importance in the determination of quality was how the doctor cared for her. Horrible things said about her previous dentist fall on deaf ears. because love and kindness rule over all else.

If you’re talking about crookedness, you can always consider braces. Dentures and implants are pretty.. risky moves. They cause a lot of change in your face depending on what work is being done. I know how you feel about ugly teeth. I’ve been smiling throughout school and I’ve always been wondering why people laugh at me when I do. I was too naive. Braces are a good option to at least get them straightened, it makes a world of difference. You can consider getting crowns if you want a fuller smile. They’re pricey but definitely nowhere near the costs of implants or dentures. Bless!

I have one front tooth implant that is now bleeding from inside the gums. My dentist told me that there is some bone loss there so that may be what is contributing to the bleeding. I'm going to get dentures instead.

+Joe Dirt I am not a Dr. but I have received some prices for the implants. The implants are really expensive they can run between 3k to 5k PER tooth. I was quoted for full set, top and bottom it could run between 38k to 50k. So after hearing that price I knew implants were out of the question. I hope this helps.

That's why I traveled to Costa Rica this week for the All on 4 both arches. Dr. Mario Garita uses Nobel Biocare implants and was exclusively trained to use them by Nobel. The need for dental inplants needs to be lower in the United States. Alot of people here can't afford the pay those ridiculous prices. Dentists should think with their hearts instead of their wallets and make dental inplants afford for people who really need them and can't afford them, and for people over 55 years of age, they should be free to all people who can't afford them, and not to people who can afford to pay for them. They're alot of people in this world that need help and instead of them trying to make a quick bulk, PLEASE make this procedure affordable for everyone, and especially those that are on a fixed income.

Don, I wonder what my options are. I only have about $19,000NZ in savings (New Zealand,) I am 67 and live alone. (I mention the latter, because it means I have no one to discuss it with.) I badly need teeth top and bottom. It is out of the question to have implants here, or even standard dental care - only for the wealthy. I would prefer the mini-implants. I have 5 bottom teeth left - all of which need getting rid of. None at the top, only a plastic denture. Do you think I should go overseas and simply get a denture done? Could I get the x-rays done in NZ and send them somewhere overseas so that they can have the denture ready when I get there? (not enough money for accommodation, to wait for them.) I think I might be better off with top and bottom porcelain dentures and four implants in the top and four in the bottom..going from my scant knowledge on the subject. What Juan Carlos says below about high seas piracy! I was quoted in the area of $26 large all in for 4 implants holding a horsehoe on the uppers. But of course I live in Cowtown Saudi Arabia where it's widely known that we've got the most insane high dental costs in the countryl I wanna go to Mehico for the $5 large special, but then again, that $5 large is Americanos deniros, which translates to $7K Canuck, PLUS all the hotels and flights above and beyond that, AND what if they botch it!? I have had this All on Four for three years and now it is falling apart. Don’t do acrylic and even then no matter what you are told, you will be spending money the rest of your life. Mine cost $34,000 and now I’m having to charge for $14,000 to replace it with a zirconium all on four because I already have the implants. Even so, if you research The Clinician’s Report Nov. 2018 Vol 11 and you will find how long to expect a zirconium all on four to last. Three years. How does that sound? Some might last 4-5 years. Doesn’t matter. You will be paying for new teeth the rest of your life.

I can't believe that dentures haven't come farther, no alternative to screws. Why no type of glue to hold them in place and be able to dissolve glue as needed for hygiene with some sort of mouthwash cleanser, a softer product that molds better, something. Many can't tolerate the metal of screws and many more can't afford the price anyway.

Not until mine did would I ever have thought he'd or any dentist would kill themselves, mostly a professed teacher of men and boys in church, other activities, his laughter, youth etc. Then I took my dog to the Vet and we started talking as my dog had a broken tooth, he was friends with my dentist, said they had beers and laughed, they traded work, he treated dentists dog, dentist put 11 unneeded fillings in his sons teeth. Now I have a mormon dentist he took over, when I went in the girl said, "he's mormon, not much personality", I never asked religion of a dentist before or thought too, he had me open my mouth and say ah, oh, etc. and turned it into a do re mi, he was funny! Probably be dead in a year.

You use a water flosser , also you go in for cleanings just like regular teeth except with 4 on 4 you have them removed they are screwed in and it’s that simple and yes it’s expensive but the benefits far outweigh not getting them , not all implants need cost so much every person is different , it’s up to each individual mouth I was fortunate to get my upper arch done and I believe the price was about 15 thousand and I was lucky to have someone that helped me finance it I am getting lowers hopefully next year , I’ve gotten a price locked in for around ten thousand to me my smile is priceless watch some more videos , maybe you change your mind maybe not , but the implants actually don’t hurt as bad as some believe my implants hurts badly two days . But it’s very easy to clean them

I'm in North Florida. I recently received the two lower implants. The implants were $4,5000 and we're not covered by my not very good dental insurance. I had my teeth extracted at the same time. Had I not, I would have had to pay $250 per 15 minutes for the IV sedation that I chose instead of nitrous oxide (I don't know what they would have charged for nitrous).

What u have to understand is that the dentist agency has now become the car industry. Do your homework look over seas or get as many options form dentist near you. They told me to replace my top teeth would cost 15000 dollars I got done for 6 thousand! I shopped around in Buffalo N.Y.

Got mini implants yesterday and it was horrible. My mouth was so numb, that I looked like a moron. I choose laughing gas, and numbing method, so I could drive myself home. The tempory dentures was enough to make me gag . a bad night, the bottom dentures was a horrible fit. The top had way to much plastic. The dentist does not want me taking the out until they heal up, and I'm afraid to eat . I'm starting to question this dentist work. He is a 5 star dentist, He could of done better . The top denture is no different than regular false teeth, it was not what I expected. I praying that the new teeth in getting has hardly no plastic. Nothing like my real teeth.,
