Good morning Rick. Enjoy Louisiana. We have not camped there but have traveled there and loved it. We have been retired 5 years and the mindset certainly is different for someone who worked for 50+ years. I am dividing up retirement into 3 stages: The go-go years, the go-slow years, and the no-go years. My goal is to stay in the go-go years as long as I can - take care of health and travel! We stayed at Mark Twain last year and enjoyed it. Safe travels to you and Akela.

I survive the winter by watching camping videos, remodeling and repairing camper videos, etc. I would say go North in the summer but you are correct, you have to make summer reservations for the good spots in January and everything is more than full. Can’t wait for the videos from your Louisiana trip. I hope you get to see the Natchez Trace on your way there. Yes, fill the fridge with water bottles (large maybe) because you know you will use them up. “Happy Trails to you.” 🎵

I've been making my own trails in retirement. Still have some to do. These trails are a result of my wandering in earlier years, and now I can pass on those adventures to others.

Retired at 62 but worked till 68. No job was nice for a few months then boredom sets in. Unfortunately my health went downhill and now seeing doctors to much. My advice for anyone is get out as much as possible early. Getting old isn’t for sissies. Love your videos

If you have the time check out the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois. I grew up in Illinois but never visited Shawnee. I've heard it's a beautiful area. It's definitely an area on my bucket list.The only food I leave in my camper is canned goods. We've cut way back on the amount of food we take with us because most of the time we end up not eating it and throw it away.

@@GoingNoWhereFast - My husband worked 7 days a week for 46 years for the automotive industry. He has been retired for 5 years now. When he first retired we got a 5th wheel and went out west. That kept him busy. It is a big life change. We about choked each other till we figured it out.

I have had a tough time retiring. My wife of 55 years passed away in October 2024. I am 77 and looking for work but there’s definitely age discrimination. I am lucky in that my younger son lives with me and looks after me. I am physically fit and don’t even wear glasses,just like my dad who passed away at 97. His dad 104! Anyway everyone enjoy retirement 😅

Hi. Us Geezers on the Go are on the go again after back surgery for my husband. Jealous you'll be in LA. We were supposed to venture that far this year but surgery changed some plans. Right now in your neck of woods on Roanoke rapids. Then on to SC GA, Al. As fidd cooking, l cook same stuff as home. We clean our fridge when not camping but leave dry condiments. Where will you ge in NY in May. We live in Windsor and should be back early May. Safe travels.

You will enjoy the total solar eclipse. We went to South Carolina to see the one a few years ago. We watched it at a state park. Traffic after that to leave put us in a huge traffic jam but it was really worth it.

I too, had a lot of trouble adjusting to Retirement. I finally got very involved in Volunteering until I felt taken advantage of! Now I only work on my Wife's assignments, though slowly. We camp whenever we can, generally a week at a time.

I have to slow down a little and camp for a long rime at places. I get itchy feet and want tomove on after 2-3days. I think I was born under a wandering star..
