Harvest, Rust Never Sleeps, After the Goldrush in no particular order. Not my 4th fave but I actually like Trans too and was fortunate to see him perform Computer Age live in the 80s. Managed to make our way to right in front of the stage for that show.

I think it is not right - for me - to count Buffalo Springfield or CSNY albums because he wrote, at most, a few songs on each album. So, in order of my appreciation, I'd choose After The Gold Rush, Harvest and Everybody Knows This is Nowhere. He was certainly on a roll. If I were to include something from a group he was in, I'd replace EKTIN with Deja Vu, of course.

Early 80s the wife and I went to see Neil play. He started the set sitting crosslegged with guitar atop a 10-foot tall wooden box. He came down a ladder as I recall and gave us an intimate acoustic set, you know, "Sugar Mountain," "I Am a Child.". Then he plugged in and Crazy Horse came out, and they unleashed the decibels. Turns out the 10-foot box was their amp. The sound was so big we felt our guts vibrating, got nauseous and had to leave.

I've come to the conclusion people like Shakey for different reasons, while some prefer the soft acoustic side or country fringes. I've been listening to Neil on a regular rotation for close to 40 years I love the raw ragged side of NY. Picking a top 3 is tough because they are forever changing just like Neil. If I was forced to I would head for the DITCH Time Fades Beach Tonight's The next week or month might just be , Zuma, Freedom and Gold rush .....Mirror Ball, Le Noise and Everybody Knows . It really depends on what kinda mood I'm in . With that said Landing on Water and Reactor and Colorado don't get the love they deserve.

Neil and the Shocking Pinks (Everbodys Rockin’) has always been a favourite of mine. I know it doesn’t get a lot of love but it has great songs Wonderin’, the brilliant Payola Blues and a great cover of Mystery Train. The video for Wonderin’ is also brilliant.

The run of albums from Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere through to Zuma is uniformly excellent. Harvest Moon is also a favourite. But the go to albums for me right now are Live at Massey Hall and Live at the Cellar Door.

I wouldn't include any Springfield or CSNY since those are collaborations. It also minimizes his prolific solo career. It's hard for me to pick 3, but here goes. Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, After the Gold Rush and Rust Never Sleeps. I always like "Gold Rush" better than the far more popular "Harvest". It is his underrated masterpiece. Kind of interesting though not surprising that no one picked an album more recent than the 1970's. He did some very good records after the 70's including a few that would have made my top 10 list like Freedom and Ragged Glory. Like nearly all great 60's era artists his best work comes from the earlier part of his career.
