In India, RTR stands for Radio Telephony Restricted, and FRTOL stands for Flight Radio Telephony Operator's License. These are licenses issued by the Ministry of Communications, Government of India, to individuals who wish to operate a radio on an aircraft.
RTR(A) is the license required for operating a VHF radio on an aircraft that is operating in the Indian airspace. This license allows the holder to transmit and receive information using the VHF radio in a controlled manner as per the rules and regulations set by the Indian aviation authorities.
FRTOL is the license required for an individual to operate a radio on board an aircraft in India. It is mandatory for any person operating a radio on board an aircraft to hold an FRTOL license. The license certifies that the holder is trained and competent to operate a radio and to communicate effectively with the ground control.
