i decided to quit pursuing art in early 2020 and hadn't drawn since... but recently i decided to get a new sketchbook and i've just been doing random sketches from references and from my head in different medium and just trying to explore! it's nice to have a physical book that documents my process of re-learning how to love art again

For me I have different "sketchbooks" for different things. Some of them I definitely use more like artbooks, but sketchbook is just this established term. But a lot of mine, especially ones with special paper (like one with bristol paper for markers), I use to collect finish pieces to be able to look through my art journey. But others I use the way people expect sketchbooks to be used: trying new things, leaving things unfinished or rough, not caring if art is perfect or not and just using it for practice

Sketchbooks are for all the things bouncing in my brain. I use them to unwind and get ideas down on the page when I am feeling overwhelmed. I do my live stream sketching in sketchbooks as well. So I can keep all the stream art together. I've carried a sketchbook on my person since I was 14 years old. (i'm almost 40 now) They are like a part of me and I feel weird without one.

Both the snakes and the whale sharks were so cute. I really like them. My sketchbook serves multiple purposes - it's a place to sketch / record ideas for potential future art pieces, make thumbnails where I figure out the composition and such of paintings I want to make, get drawing practice in, and sometimes make finished paintings that I don't want to spend too much time on and work on my watercolour paper, so I just do small pieces in my sketchbook, I also make swatch charts for different media in it as a handy reference. I know that's a lot of stuff, but that's really what my sketchbook is, a catch all for artistic exploration.

Aww I love all of these! I use my sketchbook for ideas, concepting, thumbnailing, color planning, composition, that kinda thing. But also doodles, practice and sometimes finished pieces! But that's usually kinda incidental.

For me, I use dot sketchbooks most. Helps me with perspective and to know where to place whatever I'm drawing on a larger scale. Typically, I use my sketchbook for brainstorming, thumbnails, practice, and every now and then a finishe piece

I love your snake-page, it looks so cozy and happy with all the swirls and colors. The sharkwales are nice too. To answer your question; I use my sketchbook as a playground and a womb, just like you I guess. I can play there to relax and new ideas are being born in there.🥰🥰🥰🥰

I use my sketchbook for motivation. Doing random things here and there is not enough. I will go ages without drawing but how will I get better then? So I started my current sketchbook to help me keep at it. Being able to flip through it and seeing what I have done so far even though it is not very much, helps immensely! I try to take a leaf out of your (sketch)book and use it for ideas and stop the perfectionism. Even if something looks weird or messy, I am still proud I drew something.

I started my 7th sketchbook today, did a Nankin drawings for the front page.. Sakura Nankin pen, fineliners are growing in me for drawing, specially with inktober coming soon... But I like water base markers to draw too and love drawing animals, actually your videos helped me a lot I discovered that animals are my thing.. ❤

Hmm for my sketchbook, I am trying to draw more animals, I also focus on adding a lot of things like papers or song lyrics. I am trying to draw more people with semi - realism style and following refrences! I'm just trying new stuff lol

I don't even have a sketchbook. With everything I draw, I feel like I have to render it and finish it completely. That's one of the reasons why I have barely improved my art for years. Also, I hope this doesn't come across as mean, I just noticed this quiet a while ago and finally wanted to give some feedback. Feel free to ignore it! So, I always think that your endcard music is way too loud. Your voice is so relaxing but as soon as your video is about to end, I have to quickly turn down the volume or close the video, because otherwise I feel like my ears are getting blasted of and my head hurts from the loud sounds/music. Maybe that's just me, though. ^^"

I just use my sketchbook to free draw so lot of line drawings, lot of K-pop, lot of alcohol market work, lot of fanart. Yeah. Tho I do do some sticker planning in there too.
