Useful video. I've been with SIAA for over a year and I'm happy with the overrides and profi share. I have also gotten a few good appointments on my own, mostly for commercial lines.

@@Jcrfter1234 It depends on your own goals. For me, SIAA has been really helpful in getting direct appointments, training, overrides, and bonuses for production, growth, and retention. My book belongs to me. There is and exit fee if you want to leave one day.

Its super important to keep in mind if the network has a cap on the amount of commissions that they take from your split!

There's a 26 year old that writes $2,000,000 per month in commercial premium and mainly does trucking. My father also has 1,000,000 in premium alone in commercial. Commercial is a side piece to people who treat it like a side piece.

good post! Commercial is a animal in and of itself. It requires alot of planning and execution to do well with commercial lines. Ultimately the agents who perform best in the commercial space identify and execute on 4-6 verticals where they write the majority of their commercial business. Maybe its trucking, IT solutions, roofing contractors, manufacturing.... the point is they become an expert in certain verticals and put together marketing plans accordingly!

The main ones we looked at are: ASNOA, SIAA, Smart Choice, and Horizon Agency Systems.

Congratulations on passing the exam! You can join a network or broker now. A broker or agency will likely give you more support where a network is you doing your own business, you make more long term since it’s yours but in my experience, there is very little training

Hi Mark, Thank you for the awesome content. Do you know if there are any clusters or aggregators for Hawaii? I cant seem to find any. I no longer live in Hawaii but most of my friends and family live there and dont know how I cant write business with them. I've reached out to some local agencies there to see if i can become appointed with them but no one is accepting non resident licenses.

I’ve not heard of one. If I’m not mistaken, you have to be a resident of Hawaii to sell there. It’s been a while but I would imagine the rule is still there

These information are gold ! Thank you so much, I contacted local wholesaler their commission split is 50/50 for new business&renewal no cap and they did not put any exit clause in contract. do you think this is good idea?

That deal feels low to me. I would like to see 80/20 or 75/25 split or better myself. 50/50 is ok for renewal business if the company is going to service the book for you. Unless they change, as of today, the two I would look at right now are, Horizon Agency Systems and ISAOA, Insurance Agency Owner's Alliance. Both have higher to 0 commission splits and low to no exit restrictions etc... You'll need to do the research they change their structure from when I last researched them

You have to read the contract. Some do and some don’t allow it. I am not a fan of shared appointments but sometimes it’s necessary if the company isn’t allowing new direct appointments

Hard market issues, do not even try direct, it is a myth for newbies especially now, just get signed up with good cluster as the one mentioned.
