I had a UFE. The pain that comes for the 8-10 hours following the procedure is so horrific…. Comparable to labor pain. I was puking and miserable. After that time passes the pain completely subsided (it’s very strange.) I’m 6 months post op and my fibroid has shrunk from 5.4cm to 3.7cm and my periods are regular and light. I’m 35

I had my UFE 3 days ago and the pain is equivalent to CONTRACTIONS, not menstrual cramps. It hurts bad! I have bleeding, and I’ve been throwing up like crazy. Absolutely no appetite. I’m taking Colace, Phenergan, 800 mg Ibuprofen and Percocet. None of it is working. I would advise anyone considering this procedure to be aware of what you’re getting yourself in to. Hopefully I’ll have a more positive report in a few weeks 🤢

Jenn Latte it took me about 10 days to get back to moving around and feeling somewhat normal again. I had a weird smelling discharge and oozing from the site of the procedure that has now subsided. I still have some pressure on my bladder, but not as bad as before. I still have about 7 weeks for my repeat MRI/MRA to find out if the procedure was a success. I’m hopeful that it was and will update. I definitely wouldn’t repeat.

@@MissCandy350 Hi I did it 2 weeks ago. I knew I was scheduled to even when looking at this video. I got nothing you did except 3 days of extreme pain especially late afternoons to night regardless of the pain killers given. But I am 100% now at least externally. A bump where the catheter was, but I was told it will not take another month to go away. Just in case I am still healing internally I am taking it easy.

@@jennlatte7519 I'm so glad your procedure went well. I'm back to 100% myself. I'll know just how successful it was when I return for my follow up MRI/MRA. I can say that the bladder pressure and extreme bleeding has resolved.

I had my UFE one week ago. They left the epidural in for 3 days to give me pain meds (morfine), that helped immensely. I stayed in hospital for 4 days and now I’m home with some very mild cramping. For now I’m happy with how it all went, they took such good care of me in hospital. I can’t understand why they let women go home after a few hours (not in Belgium), the doctor told me that the pain is equivalent to a heart attack, because the fibroid is also a big muscle. So if you have the chance to stay in hospital for pain management, please do!

Scheduled next week. Read all your Pre-OP Paperwork and ask questions. Tired of anemia, heavy bleeding, etc, willing to take the risks for a better quality of life. Pain is due to the veins and 👿 (tumors) drying up, uterus contracting which may be several months.

It's has been a month for me since I got the procedure done. It has been nothing but a nightmare. None stop bleeding, cramps, swollen, excruciating pain...I would not recommend this procedure to anyone. I should've taken the uterus out. This has me emotionally and physically drained. Don't do it. I ended up with a necrotic infected fibroid stuck on my uterus, they scraped my uterus and cervix to get most of it out I feel like I'm dying

I have/had large fibroids & many of them. I agree the pain is insane right after surgery. Bleeding, vomiting, cant eat for days. I take pain like a champ but this HA! I thought I was leaving the hospital that night but then ended up staying because of the pain. I went home the next day. Then the 1st couple weeks are miserable. I would wake up screaming from sharp stabbing pains. 1 month later now after my surgery - I'm still hurting!!! Not as bad but I am very uncomfortable. The leg they went into hurts too in the groin. Still needing ibuprofen daily. Already I see my stomach flattening. A flat stomach in the future is the only thing keeping me smiling. But everyone is different. I hope you do better than I am.

I’ve just had mine 3 days ago (26/03/2024). I found out I was sensitive to morphine so was puking my guts out all night post procedure. I can’t tell you it was the worst pain I’ve experienced given I haven’t had kids so it was an alien experience.

I had surgery august 17 it’s was smooth as butter. It’s the healing process that’s affecting me night sweats and hot flashes. My right leg hurts where they had the incision when I bend down too much on the side I can feel throbbing all the way down to my knee. If I put too much pressure on the right thigh it hurts. I only took the medicine as needed. I hate pills

Alhamdullilah I am feeling v fine today after one week of embolization..My pain had already started reducing after 3rd day..I started reducing my pain killers from 5th day...Now taking only two Panadols 500mg, one ibuprofen 600mg, two motilium antivomit, And one tramol tablet which is codeine just before bed..Now thinking to take only one panadol, one brufen and one motilium once in a day..

I literally just had my UFE so am in my early post op healing phase. The pain was excruciating for me post op because I was sensitive to the morphine and stronger pain meds so had to rely heavily on Cocodamol and Paracetamol which to be fair doesn’t touch the sides. I’m at home resting with hot water bottle and fresh ginger tea and Netflix. I hope to surface in the next few days.

A close relative of mine got utrine embolization and it's been more than a year of this procedure; she didn't got menses. Is it ok? She suddenly got some breathing issue and blood pressure and we had eco for that and everything was perfect. But the main thing i need to know is about menstruation. If she will be suffer again from menses or it will never come again just because of this procedure. Thanks for your time.

UFE can affect menstruation post op but will likely return. Best for your friend to see her Gyne if she is worried. This procedure has the potential to put women into early menopause (tiny percentage) but is rare.

I’m 3 years out from surgery and I still have leg and groin pain on my right leg where procedure was done. If I walk too much I suffer excruciating pain right where my leg meets my groin. I’ve gone to the doctor an ultrasound was done but they said everything looked normal. Has anyone else gone through this?

I can speak for me and say I am happy I did it. Recovery was brutal but short and it was mostly a success, one of the fibroids shrank while the rest went. however the main thing is i was able to conceive

I had the op a few years ago. The pain is evil. At the time I kept wishing I never I had it done and couldn't sleep. The pump they gave me for pain didn't help I just kept vomiting throughout the night then they decided to take the pump away because of the side effects. I really suffered I was actually on my hands and knees the pain was so bad. A month later I had one period then they stopped altogether.

@@jenw6545 hi when I go to my dr appointment I will ask how many and how large I was unable to view the mri results they gave me which would have gave me that information i do know I have several on both the left and right side of uterus. lt felt like contractions for about 24hrs after surgery with nausea & vomiting and vaginal spotting I did not have a patient controlled morphine pump I was given narcotics into my IV then I honestly had no more severe pain I was discharged 25 hrs after surgery went home with narcotics anti nausea stool softener and antibiotics medication I was able to walk up stairs unassisted and go to bathroom unassisted as well as shower with no problem I did have very slight cramping for one day took the narcotic and quickly threw it up and did not use any more of that narcotic and haven’t had any more pain or discomfort i do feel a little lighter in the abdomen don’t know of any weight loss I don’t have a scale at home I do take my time when walking to be safe hope this helped!
