1:42 There’s a book about the German fighter pilot (Franz Stigler) called A Higher Call by Adam Makos. It goes into a lot of detail on his life and what made him choose mercy that day. I’d highly recommend it. Would also recommend the kickass heavy metal song about the incident - No Bullets Fly by Sabaton.

When the Notre Dame Cathederal was severly damaged by fire, Ubisoft, the company that made the assasins creed games, had such a detailed 3d scan of the cathedral from when they put it in Unity, they let the French government and the Church use it for the reconstruction.

About Fred Rogers, I think it's mainly because of him that ultimately allowed the average consumer to record TV shows on their VCRs for later watching with family, as Television companies had been fighting hard against such a practice at the time.

Most pirate's weren't overly violent, sure they did what they had to when they had to, but 99% of encounters ended peacefully, with the boarded vessel being lighter of loot.

Interesting fact: niki lauda went to personally investigate a crash of one of his airline's (very humbly named lauda air) and found a defect with the plane's (boeing 767) engine, that probably saved the lives of many people

Roope wasn't a lieutenant general. He was a Royal Navy lieutenant commander and was captain of HMS Glowworm when he died. His destroyer engaged 2 German destroyers in West Fjord, Norway, and he gave chase when they retired. Roope knew they were trying to draw him onto superior forces and that is how a destroyer ended up fighting the German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper. Roope deserved his Victoria Cross, it's just so sad that his, like so many others, was posthumous.

I would like to point out that the story of the Christmas truce is pretty poorly presented here in terms of what happened next. In general, both sides gave the order to resume fighting after Christmas and on both sides the reaction at the end of the chain of command was a clear no and also the officers on site didn't feel like it. Even when soldiers began to be cruelly punished, it did not lead to the soldiers resuming their fighting; on the contrary, there was fierce resistance. It soon became clear to the soldiers sent to punish them that although they were on an official mission, they were so outnumbered that they could not seriously implement the punishment. So in your last attempt, all the soldiers on site were gradually replaced and they were deployed primarily on the Eastern Front, which was far enough away. the whole war could have ended at that moment

I would like to point out that the rabbits didn't come to Napoleon because he means food, but because they were kept in really crappy conditions and anyone who has anything to do with rabbits should know that they are very resentful. Besides, Napoleon had the great idea when they all came at once to order his troops to open fire. means hundreds of rabbits in absolute panic and powder fumes which makes it impossible for Napoleon's troops to see what is actually going on.

Story 15: there a as astronomical difference between the bigotry from generations past and out of touch actors trying to use their positions of privilege as a bully pulpit for the cause of the day. And don't even get my started on those same out of touch actors trying to pretend that normal people complain about terrible story telling being some sort of coded 'ist, 'isim, or 'phona.

Eight five years, twenty-five days ago, a man with an IQ of 46 embarked on the last lengthy walk of his life. Eighteen months earlier; he had been sentenced to death for a crime involving the demise of a 15-year-old girl, Dorothy Drain, along with the near death of her sister, Barbara. During his residence at a home for special needs individuals, psychological determined that had the mind of a first grade elementary school student; he may have not even been able to read more than a few words consecutively due to his intellectual ungiftedness. He may have even been functionally illiterate in an absolute sense. However, this is not a hill to die upon, in my opinion. The hill that I am willing to die upon regards the fact that Joe was executed. In fact, prison employees reported that Joe was smiling in a juvenile manner as he was escorted to his impending doom. Prior to entering the gas chamber, Joe passively, emotionlessly stated "No, no, I [he was referring to himself in the thrid person] won't die". He was unpurposefully proclaiming his innocence until minutes prior to his date with the grim reaper. I heard on another Reddit video that your life can literally and truthfully flash before your eyes, and do so a theoretically infinite amount of times because of how your brain remains persistent and distorts time after the rest of your physical body seemingly appears deceased. The mental portrait this paints in my head is terryifing. Picture reliving the most relevant clunks of your life, including the moments before your demise, on an endless loop. Despite the fact that Joe, in all likelihood, failed to apprehend what injustice he had fallen upon him, I still shiver to contemplate the concept that this could have been his nightmare embodied in reality. I think I heard that wasn’t even the first war. I think I heard there were other words were they did that. I wanna make it clear now that I think of it I said, I think I heard that but I could be wrong. I just wanted to make that clear. Not trying to be rude to anyone I just want to say I think I heard that the void anyone being rude to me.
