The tip story is literally wage theft. They should file a complaint AND hire an attorney. Go in with everyone at the restaurant to make it affordable. Some attorneys will even accept payment after a settlement. If you get fired, that's retaliation and you can sue for that too. Also, contact corporate. They definitely wouldn't want to be sued for wage theft and might want to fix it quietly. Probably fire the manager.

It’s also garbage to split tips. I have waited tables my whole life and work harder and provide better service and I want what I earned, not hand some of what I EARNED over to someone who didn’t world as hard or earn it.

At the same time you could work harder than someone else and get lower tips because they were lucky and had a couple big tippers. There is something to be said for both methods especially if they give the cooks and bussers a cut of the tips.

Agreed! Why am I tipping out to others who are paid more than me in minimum wage alone?! I could never reconcile that in my brain and quickly left the serving profession. 😢

I also have worked in service my whole life. I worked at a bar where we split tips. I watched other bartenders slip a 20 in their pocket from their regulars, as they had been there longer. But two can play that game.

I won’t work at tip splitting/pooling jobs, if I have to then it isn’t for long.

Obviously the person getting fired actually said why they are basically getting fired. If you get paid less while you’re working in training. Places with high turnover regardless of anything do that but in their favor. They do t have to pay you what you deserve so they get three months most likely at slave wages then make you work extra hard to keep job. They then either fire and do it to someone else. They also will force whatever they want in employees. Get a different job. Casinos fine dining only or hotels all same level but get paid more

Tipping : i never thought of that. I absolutely hate Tipping culture, but I, too, have worked for tips in the past. I'll be sure to carry cash from now on, just to prevent this sort of thing.

Story 1: The Department Of Labor is useless, but it’s good to file a grievance to keep on record. Consider organizing a class action lawsuit, as lawyers are more likely to take on those cases. Story 2: NTA. They keep demanding grandchildren, then need to pay for them. The other in laws against OP are stupid. Story 3: Someone there is out to get you, OP. Consider suing them, or at least anonymously badmouth them in employer/job review network. Story 4: Dump him. Block him on everything. He is looking for an excuse to leave anyway. Story 5: Sue for harassment and file restraining orders. Install field cameras to catch them in the act. Be sure to use the best grade locks and to cover your alibi.

This would be solved if the business that employs the workers was responsible for paying the workers. The customers are already paying; now you have to burden them with the wage on top of that?

Wait, but the second story is like a wrongful termination. I think the poster can do a wrongful termination lawsuit on the two company because they didn't give any reason to terminate. But I don't really know what the law is probably not in the same country as them, so maybe it's a suggestion instead of you know solution.

Last story - I'm sorry, but just because the old owner's allowed it, doesn't mean Op has to. Your Property, your Rules. If they ask NICELY, then go ahead. But if they act like an A-Hole, just tell them to F*** off and call the Police, which they won't because they know OP owns the Property, they even have the ablls to tell him to move his Van so they can move their Boats and that. Am I the jerk for retaliating against my bully So I always got bullied by this one kid from sports day let's call him Dave for the story so Dave kept calling me a cheater since sports day because I called him out on it I'm now halfway through year 8 and he hasn't stopped so I went back to the lesson I had before because I lost my pen and he kept calling it when I went in so before I left I said what like your "mum with your dad" and left to class .I nearly got there when he ran up and tried to hit me .then this whole thing happened and I got ilu (inclusion) from lesson 3 to the end of the day Am I the jerk Btw I really need someone to tell me if I was in the wrong or not

I was in an accident at work about 10 years ago. I may have had a concussion, not sure. But it was definitely scary. i had trouble speaking in the first hour or so after the accident. Boyfriend is a dick.
