I was a nanny for a family a couple years ago. We went on a 14 day Scandinavian cruise with Disney. They stayed in a two bedroom suite (I had my own cabin). Their suite cost more than $100,000.

I am def with you, Enjay. I have 2 very different approaches when I cruise, when in the islands, I rarely get off the ship anymore, juts stay back and enjoy the quiet. When I do Europe though I always do it foe the ports and spend time there. Cruising to me is being on the ocean as much as possible, the more sea days the better. Not a show guy on ship, can do those at home. Just how I like to do it, love seeing how other folks have so many varied opinions.

When a non-cruiser like me thinks of accommodation onboard, the image of those tiny, windowless, inside rooms come to mind. Hi Gary, I do not begrudge people who have the ability to afford those kinds of accommodations. If someone has led a good life, and is used to that, all well and good. Our first cruise was an inside cabin on the Carnival Fantasy (God rest its soul). Last year we enjoyed an Ocean View on Celebrity Summit. In May 2021 a Deluxe verandah on the hump of the Summit (larger verandah). In February 2022 a Sky Suite on Celebrity Millennium. Who knows, if we keep progressing...we'll be broke LOL. For me personally (with no intention to tell anyone with a different view that they are wrong), diminishing returns set in very quickly once I have a balcony in a quiet part of the ship. Even the balcony is mostly for my wife, for that matter. If I'm spending time in my cabin or hotel room when I'm on vacation I feel like I'm doing it wrong. If I'm not excited to be seeing the ports and/or experiencing the ship, I'm probably on the wrong cruise. I will spend more to get cabins in Norwegian Haven or MSC Yacht Club, however. The ship experience is just that much better. I'd do an inside cabin Yacht Club cruise over a main ship suite. Of course, priorities differ by person. If you derive more pleasure from luxurious living quarters, or just plain have money to burn to the point that both the price and the opportunity cost is irrelevant, then you do you.

do you prefer to stay in an inside cabin so you can cruise more often, or do you get a small balcony room? Not much onto the shows, gotta see the water as much as I can.

It is not per suite but yes the more in the room the less cost per person. For example Celebrity SUmmit penthouse suite for two in Jan 2021 is TOTAL cost of $18,702, for four it will be $22,615 TOTAL cost, but the cost per person goes down. For a solo cruiser in that suite is is the same cost as if 2 people were in it. Hope this helps.
