I really enjoyed having Devin and you both chatting together. Please invite him back soon. I still use an Exped pad and it's fine. I find the valve annoying for the reasons you mentioned, but the comfort has been acceptable. Now that I've listened to your discussions, I think I won't go for this same pad again (it's not available anyway) and will go to the more comfortable pads you mentioned. But first I'll be using this pad until it fails.

I think you guys nailed it on the weight part. This is exactly what it is. Call me crazy but I'm a bigger guy at 6'2 225lbs and I prefer vertical baffles. It forces me to sleep on my back and I sleep the best. I love the new exped ultra pads. Also they are so much cheaper compared to the competition.

Devin I hate to do this because 99% of the time I think your gear opinions and recommendations are absolute gold but the 1% where I have to vehemently disagree with you is the NEMO Quasar 3D pad. I bought two of the Quasar's for myself and my wife and both of us absolutely hated them. We both found the elevated head baffle super uncomfortable especially if you use a pillow because it tilted our heads in an odd angle that cramped our necks. We also found that we both kept slipping down and off the pad because of the elevated head baffle. Worst of all we both thought that the pad was really cold so much so that we could feel the cold seeping up through the pad almost like a cold draft and keep in mind that we tried these on a warm summer night with 15° sleeping bags from very reputable companies. I had a worse night's sleep on the NEMO Quasar 3D Insulated Air Sleeping Pad then I have on any other pad in my 20(+) years of backpacking The only redeeming quality for me was that like Devin i thought the included Vortex pump sack worked absolutely fanominal.

I may need my family to band together and organize an intervention for my gear addiction. Who's worse here? Me for listening to two guys discuss pads or the guys discussing the pads for an hour and half?

Wondering what both of you think of the Thermarest Topo Luxe? I’m seriously considering the 30 inch wide size because my shoulders are so broad, a 25 inch pad is borderline too narrow.

What a doosey of video. I had to listen to it piecemeal. But yeah... Costco had a Klymit sale and the "R4.4" let in so much heat on my friend's heated floor. I knew not to take it out backpacking. I'm 6'3, 235, broad shouldered, and a side sleeper. I wished that wide pads were wider than 25" though. Any thoughts on the new NXT pads? Are they much quieter?

I have a Xlight NXT, and an Xtherm (non NXT) and had the previous model Xlight (non-nxt). They are definitely quieter, although they still make noise.

I had a nemo 3d quasar insulated and wow the comfort was worth the weight trade off but the valve system 2 years ago was massivwely flawed as the internal valve join had sharp corners so when deflated and rolled it caused wear on the pad which eventually caused holes, the pad had been used 5 nights. I never went back to them due to this but I did get a full refund. Just to mention im a side sleeper as well.

Me and my wife bought two Amazon pads (sleepingo brand) and they sucked. Neither held air and were both not even that comfortable

I got the trecholagy if that’s even how ya spell it! Lol! Anyway, it’s very comfortable, but I don’t think it’s good for cold weather. Just thght I’d let ya know if ur still looking for a more budget pad.

The Sea To Summit Ether Lite Extreme is a huge let down. Not a good or warm pad. Especially for the size

I also think the regular Ether Lite runs a bit cold in the 20s-30s

I have the normal insulated version. I found that it's only warm if I give it a half breath of air after the inflation sack. In my experience it needs that little bit of extra stiffness

I’ve read so many reviews on it and many reviews are made by “ I received this as a part of a promotion” who many aren’t backpackers. But the backpacker reviews were poor, all said it was cold.

The CCF slander will not stand. I have owned a tensor and an xlite take a zlite or switchback over both of those pads every time.
