Got this camera back in March 2023….its a very great camcorder and gives good quality for the price it offers. Only thing I don’t like about it is the lowlight….(if you always working with great lighting and always have access to it then don’t worry about it). I love how compact it is and how easily it can be taken anywhere you go without having crazy setups. Not to the zoom ins and outs. Keep up the great review

Low light is always a problem with small sensor camcorders- this one included. I work around it as best as I can with simple photographic techniques. I look for scenes with ambient light, spill light, slow the shutter down, stabilize the shot, try not to zoom, use the wide side of the lens, and keep the gain low. Those seem to work for me. For anyone reading this, the consideration is real when it comes to low light, but it is manageable of you know that about this camcorder. All in all, though, I love the camcorder... Except for the buttons. I use it a lot. Pro tip. A mist filter in 1/8 power in low light city scenes, or in general, really helps soften the image so it looks less digital overall while still maintaining detail. In low light, it actually helps with smoothing noise, and the slight bloom around point light sources gives a nice look. All in all, this was very helpful for me in low light.. BUT not low light like a dark wedding reception.. if you've ever been to a wedding reception where they uploght the walls and turn down the overhead lights almost all the way, then this tip won't help.

I'm with you I film airplanes and when the sun goes down and there is any type of contrast light this camera cannot focus and just hunts and hunts and when speed focusing is needed with planes....I just pack up and head home

@@RobertHamm Have you seen the review Michael Turner on You Tube?

Yes, I've seen it. I've even had some talk back and forth on the comments. Have you seen my lowlight videos with the X1500 at the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier? Those images are standard with the camcorder. That is to say, I expect that kind of beautiful image quality even in that low light environment. The video speaks for itself. I don't agree that there are low light problems. It's a small sensor and not as good in low light as a full frame sensor, but that's to be expected. My issues with the camera never had to do with low light or auto focus- I have always liked the image quality. My issues are with the buttons. I don't like them. Considering the updates the new firmware brought, I'm very happy with it.

@@RobertHamm Michael says that indoors the image, when zoom a little, get mushy. Seen some videos on KZbin with footage at night on the street, I de the image get mushy. Saw your video and foot the footage great, that is why I’m confused. For me spending €1700, in Europe, for a camera that struggles at night and indoors with normal light is a much too ask. But I like the small size and ergonomics and thinks it is a great camera for outdoors at daylight, but not at night outdoors, which is my concern. Keep the good work reviewing camcorders as there is not many people reviewing this cameras. Only some You Tubers like Pav Sv from (UK), Richard Wong from New Zeeland, Michael Turner and you Talks about camcorders.

Should I reduce my format from 4k 60p to 4k 30 fps If I manually set my shutter speed to 1/30? Trying to see if it matters since higher fps requires more shutter speed?
@RobertHamm
@RobertHamm 6 ай бұрын
It all depends on the situation. It sounds like you might be shooting in low light environments. If that's the case, then changing your format to 4K30, would require a 1/60th of a second shutter speed if you wanted to follow the 180° rule for motion blur. I often ignore that rule and shoot a synchronized shutter in low light. This means I shoot at the same frame rate as my frames per second. So 4K30 would be a shutter speed of 1/30 of a second. I then edit on a 4K 30 timeline so it all syncs up. If you're really looking to get the most out of low light, then you should consider 4K 24 with a synchronized shutter. Just make sure you don't do much panning or fast zooms. This will introduce exaggerated motion blur.

But what you say does not correspond to the 180 degree rule, of recording the shutter speed at double the fps... I don't understand,thanks

If what I said doesn't make sense to you, then you have to learn a little more. I can't explain it any better than I already did.

What would your settings be if you were to video a football game from press box? Wondering if you could show how you would set the X1500 for this. I was thinking at least 60fps .

For me the name has been changed to "Phil vG", it doesn't say Apocalyptic God 😆😆😆😆(it was a computer game name, I think I just changed it properly) Thanks for the info. When I video a horse it's legs move very fast, and the slow motion I am doing is always a replay, that is why I do it with the shutter speed. I'm videoing at 4K 50 (I'm in Australia), that way I can milk the zoom if I need be. Then I drop it down to 1080. It doesn't get hugely compressed because I put the video on a USB for people (they are not allowed to put a lesson on the internet without the ok from the instructor. You forgot the remote. I'm only talking about one to zoom in and out so that i don't have to keep my hand on the camera. I use a tripod left hand and hold the remote in my right. Very simple when you are videoing 9 to 5.

Yeah, you can ger a LANC remote on amazon which will allow you to zoom/focus. Mine cost about $50 a couple of years ago. It's a Libec Lanc remote. Works great. It uses a conection to the camera and has a lead thats about 3 feet long. You can get extension cords. You can even use the Panasonic ROC app to control the camera remotely, although I don't think that option will work well for your situation. Cheers.
