I wasn't aware until I watched this that solderless connectors on the George Ls was considered a problem! I've got 2 cables that use from the guitar to my board, then from the board to the amp that I bought pre-made. I've had them 15 years, used them on thousands of gigs and they've never failed! My pedal board is nearly all George Ls patch cables which I made myself. I did have a few problems when I first put it together, but I've had no problems for years since I tightened all the connectors properly! I do use them mainly for cleaner fender tones....so I agree they do sound good for this purpose. I'm watching as I was considering getting some different cables as backups......what would you recommend as a good replacement? ps: the most recent addition to my board is the "Steel String Supreme"....which is great!!

I've got an old Spectraflex 20ft cable from about 1998. Still works, great tone coming through. I just checked recently and they still make em. Great cables

I own two solid-core cables, a Zaolla Silverline and a Lava. I bought one of the PRS cables for comparison on a wing and a prayer and I was blown away. It sounded just as good as my bougie cables. I liked it so much that I bought two more of them and made them my daily drivers. HIGHLY recommended.

I have a D'Addario and a Vox cable. I like the Vox cable because it's coiled and i really prefer coiled. (I like that type because I'm not tripping or stepping on the cable. It's not all messed up getting tangled on the floor.) That being said, the first vox cable that i had did fail on me. Because it was given to me by someone else and was already used I decided that I'd get another (new) but if this one fails I'll probably try another brand. However, this video has given me a lot to think about. I didn't know any of these things. I never really put much thought into cables. I figured if they cost at least $20 they must be of decent enough quality.

Whirlwind. Rochester NY. Lifetime warranty. For the money they are pretty damn good. Proved themselves over the years touring with the biggest names in guitar. Been around for decades. Willing to bet some of the greatest moments in the history of guitar used them. The company you're referring to is probably their wholesale, but not sure. * Rochester was an epicenter for engineering in World History. Home of Eastman Kodak and MXR among other things. Now a rust belt city like many others.

The connectors for the Vandamme cable is his feet, so Jean-Claude does the splits across from your guitar to the amp (that’s why you can’t run it into pedals, they can’t support his weight). …Ooooooh, the tone!

So I’m making a snake for the first time, using Pedal Python and four cables (amp in, fx out, fx in, footswitch for onboard spring reverb). Any advantage or disadvantage to braiding the cables within the snake? The audio cables are high quality (from Runway), the footswitch cable is cheaper but sufficient.

Is there a way to test the capacitance of cables I already own? I have a multimeter. I own #3 on the GP list (have for a very long time), and gigged with it recently. I’ve learned a lot from you guys the past few weeks as I prepare to drastically revise my pedalboard. One thing: I expect I’ll never buy another guitar cable. If I end up liking doing it, I might make some for my friends.

has anyone here tested how well a cable goes with a really high gain amplifier? I know noise will always be there, but is there any sort of difference when plugging in cheap or more expensive cables?

Inherited my late brother's basses and gear, he had those cables that are made ok, so I went to monster cables, then started having problems with them , switched to mogani cables and they is very good and have good tone ; now I two sets of them; getting ten foot mogani cables, always have to get two , one for my bass processor, one for bass, also saving money for an cab to my Fender rumble 500 bass amp, so before I get it going to change amp to cab cable to mogani from monster cable

By the by, Mason: you've hinted that there are some issues with making ones own Cioks power cables. I keep missing you live but hope you'll see this- I'm curious what the issue is and why I can't find anyone with instructions!
@oneszeros1 Жыл бұрын
RCA connectors are reverse polarity so positive to sleeve and ground to tip is what you need. For a single 9V pedal just search the net for this channels article titled Build your own power pedal cables and follow diagram number 2. Basically snip the end off a standard DC cable and solder an RCA connector of your choosing (Eg switch craft 3502's) as per diagram 2 and you're good. Can't advise on other cables - I have no need for them but I assume they wouldn't be too hard to rig up looking at the other diagrams and applying the same principals.

Cables all sound different, just like speakers. You have to try and compare them with your ear and your amp and guitar… you can’t judge them by specs?????

Depends where you use them. After other pedals will have less impact than when driven by passive pickups.
