thanks for the info, im leaning to redoing my gutters with copper. there's zinc in there right now and it is nearing 60 years old... i think id be better replacing the gutter lining while i redo my roof which is necessary because it has asbestos slates. they're gutters that need to be laid with sheets, not those round or square ones you can buy by the metre. i like how copper ages and have heard it lasts a lot longer. also, it seems to be easy to solder DIY, in case a repair should be needed.

As a material handler for a cold-roll aluminum mill that specializes in aluminum for the housing industry, I prefer aluminum gutters.

1/2 round copper is the only thing I’m using. Will last my lifetime so it’s worth the investment!!!

Thanks for the info. FYI: my amerimax K style brown 5" VINYL gutters have lasted over 20 years. I am looking to buy them again or maybe the new contemporary variety to try something different (if I can find them). The old ones are now sunbeaten.

Every vinyl gutter Ive seen fall apart. The caps fall off, they expand and the joints leak and separate, they crack and erode. Im looking into typical aluminum seamless and Im scared to see what that costs these days..

Who cares. If you are looking at this video, most likely you are a homeowner. Vinyl and plastic gutters are cheap, it's not like you are not going to change your hvac filter, recoat your deck every 3 years, etc. Don't worry about getting seamless aluminum. Unless you are the type that thinks you are just going to install aluminum gutters and never do any other mantainance on your house on a regular basis.

5 in kstyle with 3x4 downs. Unless you have a metal roof or 2x10 fascia, then 6in looks fine. Very rare you want to do half round, depends on house architecture really but if going half, copper always looks good. Wear your gloves tho!
