I like electric buck with the shotgun and the chemical flamethrower, as said. Electric shotgun stunlocks, I use electro bolt 3 to stun and get a chance to reload to EXPLOSIVE BUCK AFTER, and hes pretty much dead after that. Btw I'm talking about fighting big daddy.

Even in normal difficulty it gets power crept really quickly. By the end of the game it's not even worth it to use regular bullets. Only useful with anti personel rounds and even then I think it still takes a couple headshots

Replaying Bioshock currently, playing survival difficulty on the remastered version. Gotta say the machine gun is decent, with both upgrades it's good. Only problem is there's never enough anti-personal rounds. After fully researching all enemies it takes them down pretty quick (minus B-daddies)

Once I got the cross bow it was all I used. Since there was no sniper which the type of gun I use in every game the cross how was a nice addition and I used it as my primary weapon for the rest of the game. Headshots for days.

A headshot to any human enemy with the crossbow is always an instant kill, and I personally put crossbow above machinegun even tho if you feather the tommy it's basically a lot more efficient and versatile, see with the crossbow you can switch back to plasmid and back to crossbow to skip the pump essentially making it near semi auto, I use this paired with the incendiary bolts to melt them tin cans....

Chem Thrower with consumption upgrade + Crossbow with damage and bolt saving upgrade are my key weapons.. Chem thrower freeze + xbow headshot = guaranteed kill but no loot Chem thrower electric + xbow headshot = guaranteed kill but u need to be faster electric gel + trap bolt + electric flesh 1 and 2 = HUGE DAMAGE to big daddies and immunity to trap bolts and electric damage Incendiary bolts + human inferno 1 and 2 tonics = HUGE Damage to anything.. Also saves me valuable plasmid slots (no need for electro bolt, incinerate and winter blast). BTW You can open electric locks, disable machinery and melt blocking ice with the chem thrower. Also try lighting bottles of booze with the chem thrower and turn them to molotovs to be tossed with telekinesis :)

For me, I would personally order it as: A Tier: Grenade Launcher damage, shotgun increased damage, shotgun semi auto, pistol damage, machine gun damage. All of these directly increase your effectiveness, no matter how many or few enemies you're fighting. B Tier: Pistol 24 round mag, crossbow damage, grenade launcher immunity, chemical thrower range. These are situationally useful. C Tier: Machine gun recoil reduction, chemical thrower ammo consumption, crossbow break chance. Machine gun recoil can easily be controlled by not aiming down sights when firing and just angling the mouse down a bit. The other two are more or less meaningless since the game has the habit of giving you way too much ammo and money, even on the hardest difficulties. I think one problem with judging how useful each upgrade is is that the difficulty ramp as the game progresses is very uneven. Pistols are amazing at the beginning and quickly become useless by the mid-game, only to become useful again with anti-personnel rounds and research; ditto with machine guns. Frag grenades are initially pretty rare so you can't just spam them, but then they become common and easily purchased.

I noticed how OP they made the heavy hitting weapons in Infinite. I could literally spend the whole game with either the hand cannon or the sniper rifle and the rocket launcher. Bioshock 1 and 2 had better weapon balance where you could find situations to use all of them.

Since you can upgrade all weapons it doesn't matter all that much but my pick is the crossbow mostly because of how strong the Incendiary bolts are which also glow red so are much easier to find and reuse compared to the steel-tipped bolts. Being fire damage they do 80% more damage if you use Human inferno tonics, trap bolt electrical wires also get 90% more damage from Electric Flesh tonics while also offering you full electric protection. Explosive buckshot is one of the best ammo types for killing Rosies as you can loot from them the components to craft them.

From my personal view, the top 3 weapons for survival are: Honorable mention: Shotgun with electric buck. Number 3: Machine gun with either Iron piercing or Anti-personal. Number 2: Crossbow with Default round; also combo with Insect Swarm and Target Dummy. And number 1 is the Wrench with Wrench jockey 1 and 2, Wrench lurker 1 and 2, Damage research 1 and 2, Static discharge, and electro bolt 3.

Crossbow with damage upgrade and chance that the bolts wont break it is my goto weapon using it with electrobolt. If you switch to your Plasmid’s and back to your weapons after firing a crossbow bolt it reload cancels and you can essentially double the rate of fire. It’s also very easy to kill a bouncer by baiting them to charge into/through a line of 7 trap bolts.

The wrench combined with stealth, +damage, speed, bloodlust and static discharge is pleasingly effective for me. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one here with a bit of pistol love. However I only upgraded pistol damage which works for a quick one two headshot. The clip upgrade only reduces reloads; as I remember it didn't increase round capacity and looked just plain ridiculous? I've learned to appreciate the value of camera research.

Before I found the crossbow I'd use the pistol for headshots but they're both slow once the splicers are onto you. The pistol damage upgrade was worthwhile but for me the capacity upgrade is better invested elsewhere; I'd rarely get off more than a few rounds before switching to shotgun, machine gun or else closing in fast with the wrench.

there is a trick u can do with the machine gun, if u quickly spam the fire button at around 7 clicks per second you have 100% less recoil, while the fully upgraded machine gun has around 50% less recoil. and yes its pretty much as fast, i test how long to empty a 40 bullets, by holding down the fire button it takes 7.2s and by spamming the fire button it takes around 7.5s. so the difference is minimal in speed but recoil wise its extreme

Pistol is actually great if you want to conserve ammo. I did research subjects, but anti-personnel rounds and headshots will make short work of most splicers even on higher difficulties.

Personally, I love upgrading the chemical thrower after my grenade launcher and shotgun, especially on survivor, as it deals consistent damage. For instance , when I'm doing the protect little sister mission, I hack the flame thrower turret and cameras. Especially on my no damage survivor playthrough, you start to appreciate the chemical launcher more.

I dunno. Playing on hard Fully upgraded revlover takes most splicers with one-two hits to the head with anti personal ammo. Had all splicers fully researched as they got introduced. Like lead heads in Fishieries, houndini in arcadia and such. Got much more millage with it than granade launcher or SMG

Certainly that's my experience too. I also use the Wrench A LOT with my physical upgrades: Damage, Speed, Wrench Lurker, Static Discharge, Bloodlust, and Chameleon. If I mess up the headshot I can usually smack them down with a wrench or three and if I take do a hit the static usually stuns em enough for me to finish the job.

I have only played on easy mode but I saw a walkthrough on how to kill Frank Fontaine and they suggested using the chemical thrower with the gel. It was very easy to kill him and they were not on the easy mode. So though I rarely use it, I always use it for Frank Fontaine. As for the rest, I tend to stick to the shot gun and the machine gun for the most part. I use the pistol but a lot less since i tend to run out of bullets. But I guess from the resident evil games, especially the first three, I developed I love for the shotgun which is why decided to use it and it worked. I do use the other weapons but less so

Crossbow is the best. The only issue with it is the reload time between shots. But it's a non-issue. When shooting with it, switch to plasmids then back to weapons (as quickly as possible). That makes the reload problem disappear. You can destroy a big daddy in less than 5 seconds like that.

Lol Another cool way of killing big daddies (unrelated to the video, sorry) that spends no ammo or eve hypos is using the bloodlust tonic, available at fort frolic u-invents onwards. (Save before starting the fight.) Wrench hit, Electro bolt, Wrench hit, Electro bolt... Rinse and repeat until he dies. Obviously, it's a lot faster if you've researched the big daddy and equip the Wrench Jockey and Damage Research tonics before doing this and have Electrobolt v3, but damn is it useful regardless. It may take anywhere between 15 seconds (if you have all the above) to a couple of minutes. But as long as you have bloodlust, the method is the same.

I originally played all 3 on xbox, But couldn't pass up the chance to play them all again with the dlc thanks to the collection being free on psn. I started bioshock 2 last night around 9 and beat by 4 in the morning with no deaths earning myself the trophy big brass balls. I was so into I didn't even remember if I had died or not until I got the trophy unlock. The drill was the most useful thing to me through the entirety of the playthrough. Though I also enjoy the speargun and anything with trap ammo.

After you shoot crossbow switch to plasmid and back to cross bow you skip the animation and can shoot again (like the csgo sniper)

The Crossbow is a Satisfying Weapon. One Shot and most of the Splicer dies, Bots getting desroyed easily and of Course Rosies and Bouncers are no match for this Weapon.

I think crossbow incendiary is by far the best most fun. Even on survivor. But I think all the weapons are viable on any difficulty.

Yes shotgun is a beast, i especially love the rate of fire upgrade. Crossbow i really like with the damage upgrade. I think i love it so much cos it was my favourite weapon in BS 2 multiplayer. Together with the elephant gun. The elephant gun is my favourite weapon in the Bioshock series. With the scope or damage increase perk! They should have included it in the single player imo! I really like the weapon design in this game. Shotgun especially looks great. Much better loking than shotgun in Bioshock 2

Played bioshock again on survivor after 5 years because of this vid lol Heres my two cents on the latest playthrough. 1. Dont upgrade the pistol. Even with damage upgrade, it takes 2 to 3 headshots to kill splicers.. 2. The crossbow is grossly overpowered. No need for the damage upgrade. Headshots deal 10 times (wtf?) damage to splicers. All you need is the ammo saving upgrade. 3. Youre bingo on getting the upgrade for the G Launcher first at the Fisheries. The damage upgrade takes priority first because the last thing youll need is to get up close and personal with a Rosie on survivor difficulty. Getting melee'd by this beast will get you killed if your hp is less than 3/4. Also on that difficulty, they have aimbot lol. 4. When you get to arcadia, get the human inferno tonic asap. The heat seeking rpg on the launcher deals fire damage. It will really help you against the rosies in this area. 5. Security bulllseye is still king against the daddies, especially bouncers. The elite bouncers on fort frolic will take 3/4 of your life if they smack you. No matter how many health upgrades you get. 6. Always Save the Little Sisters. Its the only way you can get the Armored shell 2 tonic.. You need this if you want to do a continuous play through with no vita chambers

Was gonna go for a no-save continous run but stupidly stepped on a well-hidden Rosie mine during the last big daddy battle in Neptunes Bounty lol. They sometimes phase out of existence on some floor areas

One of the best things to kill a Rosie is another Rosie, the rivetgun is armor piercing so they do double damage to each other, whichever one wins gives you a dead Rosie and another nearly dead one.

I really don't have a favorite weapon but my favorite combo is Winter Blast and the Shotgun. Useful too save ammo and well fun just because.

The wrench is the worst weapon or one of the best weapons, depending on your gene tonic build. The Pistol sucks unless you can consistently headshot. It's one of the few weapons that are effective at long range, but the Crossbow is a better sniper weapon. An upgraded Chemical Thrower can substitute for Incinerate!, Electro Bolt, and Winter Blast, giving you more freedom with your plasmid selection. It's useful as a support and a Big Daddy killer, but not so much as a primary weapon. How great the Crossbow is depends on how good a sniper you are with non-hitscan weapons. Even if you're not a great sniper (e.g. me) it's still satisfying to get headshots. The primary ammo is also pretty cheap for its power. That said, it definitely isn't meant to be an anti-crowd weapon.

I have a love hate relationship with the shot gun, yeah the damage is there, but how long it takes to reload makes me want to to rip my hair out! I absolutely will not use it on a big daddy anymore because he runs up on you so quick. I don’t like the chemical that much, but it’s awesome for close range against the big daddy. . The upgraded pistol still doesn’t work great for me after it’s upgraded. Love the Grenade Launcher with the heat seeking rocket
