I am in the US desert southwest, which is BWh based on plugging in the various criteria of Koppen's classifications. (it's specifically Chihuahuan Desert, creosote bush scrub) However depending on which interpretation of Koppen's system one uses or unless one actually plugs in his system's criteria, my location is considered BSk or at best BWk. Which would mean my location is similar to Denver or Yakima - and it isn't!

It would be so cool to see a video on the cold summer Mediterranean climate (Koppen Csc). I grew up on O‘ahu, but on Maui and Hawai‘i island there is Csc climate in the highlands. the whole archipelago would make a great video. the islands experience a huge diversity of climates due to altitude and latitude and the ocean.
@Geodiode

I think a Csc video would be too specialised an audience in terms of interest - and with my limited time I am focusing for now on the more popular series about Nation States. However, it is my intention to do a video about Hawai'i in general at some point in the future, as there is so much uniqueness in their geography. You're so lucky to have grown up there.

Question for you - Which small region (~100k sq miles) according to you has the highest variation of Koppen climatic zones? @@Geodiode Amazing video, GeoDiode! Interesting you say that. I'm also from the UK and can appreciate the returns of all that rainfall, particularly in both spring and summer. We do have incredibly luscious land and grass that is the source of envy for my Floridian family. Like many sadly, my mood seems to be adversely affected by the perpetual grey that looms throughout much of the year. My asthma also seems to flare in the colder months. Haha, it seems like I'm at disequilibrium with parts of this oceanic climate zone and that is a shame. It's striking that climates largely determine where we can live and our welfare living thereq, in ways that are not expected! I must say, your segment on sub-tropical climate zones really fascinates me. It often falls under the radar of common knowledge. because of how rare it is. I have fallen in love with a particular region of the Andes in Colombia; the Cordillera Occidental nestles my favourite city that is Medellín. Man oh man, quite correctly expressed as The City of Eternal Spring. 1500m above sea level it cuts out all the humidity and associated nasties :P. I do prefer this region to that of the stunning, calm Mediterranean as it provides more stable temps whilst providing a constant spectacle of nature's finest torrential rains and storms; it's an exciting place to be! Also, you can't beat the biodiversity here, it's simply oozing with life (without the excess of critters). My asthma, what asthma?! Haha Amazing, amazing series. You've educated me thoroughly and systematically through the wonders of this beautiful planet's climate zones. What striking scenery you provide in your videos too. I've never witnessed such a well versed human on the subject.

@@arghakoley8560 No way. Subtropical and tropical climates (and all derivatives of tropical ones) will never be better or colder than a Mediterranean climate, let alone an oceanic climate (what's that "gloomy"!?, hahaha) The high atmospheric humidity typical and inherent in subtropical climates makes them somewhat detestable climates, except for the locals. Mediterranean "heat" is very different from subtropical heat: Mediterranean heat is dry and...cool COMPARED to subtropical heat. The subtropical heat is humid and suffocating, in addition the temperature (T°) will always be higher in subtropical climates, likewise the thermal sensation is higher in subtropical climates. In a subtropical climate you will never be able to experience the pleasure, comfort and comforting nostalgia of winter, the rains and moderate cold that Mediterranean climates provide. You won't even be able to fully experience the four seasons; even less so in tropical climates. There is no doubt that the Mediterranean climate is the best climate in the world: it is located precisely in the middle of the extremes: the polar and sub-polar climates, and the tropical and sub-tropical climates.

I Have Also Seen The Updated Map For Future In which desert area will increase and tropical Savannah will greatly loose its area But Am Also Interested In Seeing The Timeline Of Koppen Maps From Starting Of Human Cilivlization Or After Ice Age Cause after that time the temperature and rainfall have changed It Will Be Intresting To see how climate have changed during the history of human civilization mostly due to global warming. Excellent production, but to me it shows the severe limitations of the Koppen system vs. broad zones in reality. Honolulu is far more tropical than Miami, but because it's drier and Koppen looked at overall temperature without extremes in "tropical" (he left out freezing!), it's not - I think Honolulu is lumped in with hot steppes like Midland Texas that gets freezes. Not a chance. His system also failed to differentiate dryland areas in temperature belts like was done in humid subtropical and mid-latitude areas. Not to mention the Koppen system left out sub-humid prairie, quite distinct from semi-arid steppe and humid forest. Many examples of the latter in North America and Eurasia. But well presented.

@@ajaykumarrathore533 What do you mean by "1:30" - temperature and rainfall patterns? I've seen this video and others, taken geography and meteorology courses in college, and researched those topics since. Please re-read my question, as I provided specific issues I see, not generalities and repeating what others say who also don't seem to research. Have you been to Honolulu, Miami, and Midland Texas? Hi Adnan! I think your truly climate is Cwb (subtropical highland with a monsoonal influence), but sometimes we found places that are right in the border of two climates zones so that that brings a lot of confusions cause have strong similarities with two or more climate types. Being in Asia near the Himalayas your area could also have a Continental-like influence due to the vast interior of that continent, lastly if being in a considerably high altitude the climate will be classified as tundra or tundra-like conditions. Hope this explanation help you! Thanks for sharing your concerns!

I would love to ask you about the change in subtropical highlands in the past 60-80 years. In Kenya, I see that in the central area south of Mount Kenya, rain has been disappearing. They say it's because they've cut down the trees. Do you think this area is in danger of disappearing due to desertification? Permaculture and reforestation efforts aside - which I must say they are doing quite the job with. I wonder if that area because of mount Kenya is a CWC instead of CWB

@@Geodiode I am very familiar with microclimates, even studied creating them in permaculture. I have seen 30 year land transformations into forests with waterfalls from land that was depleted from deforestation. With Chinese tea/gong fu cha all the sides of mountains have different terroir. Creating those high level forests and carbon sinks is like a magnet for rain in the area too. As clouds go over they mix with the humidity and precipitate. I saw a rainfall map for central kenya that shows the shrinking area of rain in central kenya. That is what made me wonder. In Western Kenya by mount Elgon on the border to Uganda they are not having much of a problem at all.

I want to buy a large property and reforest it and implement permanently sustainable perennial agriculture for various humanitarian and wellness purposes. For now we are stuck in the states working. It is in an incredible climate, and locals typically revere the trees and forest yet due to socioeconomic and political changes from the western world effecting them there has been a lot of deforestation. That causes a hydrological and soil biology chain reaction that can be reverse with techniques one can study in the field of permaculture. There is even a movement called the Green Belt Movement in Kenya that was started by a Kikuyu woman Wangari Maathai. She has met a LOT of resistance shockingly (but not when you look at the corruption). They've planted lots of trees though
