What are the consequences of signing the Form I-864?

My husband just started working 5 months ago he hasn’t file tax for 3 recent years and the w2 as requested so his uncle is the one standing as the joint sponsor.pls does it work that way?

I had a bad divorce and stupidly signed for non-negotiable alimony (10yr). It greatly affected my finances and quality of life. Could a prenup stipulate the foreign bride would have to leave US in the event of separation or divorce?

Good question. I'm in a relationship with a foreigner and want to know this before moving forward.

@@texan903 the video explains and from the extensive searches I've done revealed the i864 is a binding contract between you and the United states to provide for the foreigner needs. the foreigner once the i864 is in place can simple vanish and start claiming US welfare support. the US will then start taking money from you to reimburse their cost. she may choose to never request her own citizenship, meaning a life long contract to take 16k per year from you. the rate could increase and im hearing health care coverage nay become part of that policy. prenups mean nothing for i864 and generally are voided in court. best thing to do is move there where 864 is not in play.

@@KirtCarson I asked her what my responsibilities would be as a sponsor, she said I would just have to agree to allow her to apply for a Green Card. I had to discover the information about the i864 on my own, so it makes me trust her less.

@@texan903 zshe might not be completely aware of how US system works but females think differently than men and might reconsider her new found liberating options once in US and becomes westernized. the laws are decades in need of reform. Several 1st world countries have it if it don't work out she goes home or has some defined compensation. that said there are success stories, but coming from a life crippling divorce I have decided I'm too gullible to risk at this stage of my life.

@@KirtCarson she was previously married to an American man whom she eventually divorced, supposedly because he didn't follow through in helping her obtain citizenship. Part of me wonders, and I'm going to ask her, if it was because he wouldn't sign an i864.

I just want to ask, if we fall into the category of I864EZ then still should we need to fill out I864 form ? Can you please answer this question for me ? Thanks

If a party qualifies for the I-864EZ, that form is filed in lieu of the full I-864.

Chaster Legend yes they can. The law says that they cannot but if the divorced woman claims that her husband abandoned her and she has no money or job then the government will approve her for food stamps. See kumar Vs Kumar San Francisco court of appeals.
