he did set off bombs in the school (albeit with good intentions- Natsumi and Sato died just before exams were starting and he wanted to get the class some time to mourn by exploding the building where the exams were to take place, but he did still very much set off bombs. that incident is what lead to Seiko, Ruruka and Izayoi getting expelled. this also got Chisa sent away from the 77th class for a while because she took the fall for him)

Here's a few missing: -Sakura: colluding with a murderer (she leaked information to the mastermind) -Hina: tempering with a crime scene (a serious crime in many countries) -Byakuya: also tempering with a crime scene, possibly forgery (tried to make Chihiro's murder look like a Genocides crime scene) -Teruteru: sexual harassment (while a demeanor more than a crime, I think we can agree that despair Teruteru was likely to act on his impulses) -Tenka: battery And while we don't exactly know in the games how involved they were, Mondo, Fuyuhiko and Peko were all involved in organized criminal factions. Hell, Mondo was the leader of the Crazy Diamond. Speaking of Mondo, while he blames himself for his brother's death, it was an accident. At worst it would be manslaughter, but fratricide would require planning. I would add reckless driving to his rap sheet though, that was the main cause of his brother's death.

Yes, he was acting recklessly but his brother stepping in to save him would have almost definitely broke the chain of causation as Mondo’s recklessness only affected himself until the moment his brother included himself in the equation. Mondo’s actions are not more substantive than his brother’s choice to step in to save him. Mondo would almost definitely get convicted of various reckless charges but I don’t think involuntary manslaughter is on the table - not impossible, but not likely either.

Murder does not have to be premeditated - the majority of murders are instinctual and not premeditated. As long as you have the intention when you commit the action, it’s successfully murder. He was enraged and hit Chihiro. His anger towards Chihiro would establish his intention. You can’t actually be tried for manslaughter, you’re always tried for murder with the conviction being reduced to manslaughter.

There are a few things I thought were kinda off about the video. 1. Mondo didn't commit murder but manslaughter, because for a crime to be ruled as a murder the person doing the killing has to make the conscious decision to kill in that moment and has to do so with malicious intend. Judging from his post trial dialog, not only did he not intend on killing Chihiro in the first place, but he actively doesn't remember the exact moment he did before he saw Chihiro's body on the floor next to him. 2. Not sure if you just forgot about them, but the Ultimate Imposter would have both terrorism and identy theft as crimes. 3. Sounds kinda biased that only Kokichi gets the... he only did it for the greater good pass, if you ask me. 4. What about the most important Danganronpa character Keiji Shinogi, I can't believe you would forget about his most unforgivable crime off not mentioning enough how he is a police man. But aside from these minor or in Keiji's case major issues from the video it was pretty enjoyable.

About your first point- this is what’s interesting. You make a good point but not for the right reason. In normal circumstances, Mondo would definitely be convicted of murder. Even if he couldn’t remember it, unless he had a recognised medical condition, he could not get away with it. If he did, then he would have the absolute defence of automatism, and not be guilty of murder at all. But you do bring up a good point with manslaughter. There’s a partial defence called “diminished responsibility” that sets murder convictions to a voluntary manslaughter if used. I think that the stress caused by the killing game would be enough of a reason to make almost all the student killings (minus Junko’s killings and possibly Leon’s since they weren’t truly aware of the situation until after her death, when Mukuro was killed) be reduced to a manslaughter charge, or even no criminal offence at all if they can prove certain criteria.

@@KaiWills Ah yes I'm technically correct, the best type of correct. But all joking aside, I wouldn't call myself an expert on laws and what counts and what doesn't count as what type of crime. But I still believe that regardless of the killing game being a factor Mondo would still get convicted of manslaugter and not murder. Since his killing was done in a fit of rage... and his reaction to it and the following trial sugest no real malice in the crime are the reasons I think he wouldn't be convicted of murder. But I could be completely wrong, after all legal systems are different around the world. However I do know that Japan heavily factors the culprits motive in the judgement and conviction. But I believe all this just shows how THH presents it's four culprits (I'm not counting Junko in this) in very different circumstances. Leon is very much in a grey area even if you could argue most of the crime was self defense. Mondo killed Chihiro in a fit of rage, without actually wanting to do so. Celeste willingly got two people killed if it made her dream come true. And Sakura commited suicide to stop anyone else from becoming a killer. The way they're all different is very clear, something that's less obvious in the other games.

To be fair Kokichi didn’t really fake his own death he just fell through the floorboards and bonked his head real good. I was surprised that he seemed to return to normal in the trail considering he had substantial bleeding. It would have been much more interesting if he was still bleeding and maybe lost consciousness during the trial. I also think it was wrong of Shuichi and the others to not help him at all when bro really hurt himself, considering his small weight losing that much blood might have made him just pass out on the floor for a moment.

Felt bad for Multiple people in the games. Sayaka, Leon, Chihiro, Sakura, Ishimaru in Part 1. Ibuki, Mahiru, Mikan, Teruteru, Peko, Chiaki , Gundham, The Ultimate Imposter in part 2 (You could also argue none of them since theyre all technically alive) Kaede, Gonta, Keebo, Kaito, Miu, Ryoma, Tenko in part 3. I never blamed Teruteru he was trying to save his friends, and him crying to know if his mother was alright not knowing he actually was brainwashed and killed her was heartbreaking. I never blamed Mikan had she not run into that Despair Disease that gave back her memories she never would have killed. I feel bad for both Chiaki's both the AI and the Original Chaiki from the anime. Both their deaths were traumatic. Gundham was a hero in my book he saw they would die of starvation and choose to die. Kaede i really didnt want her to die she was technically innocent, Gonta didnt know any better, Ryoma didnt cherish his life because of his crimes and Miu was just misunderstood because she was abused so much. Chihiro was heart breaking he just looked up to someone and paid the ulitimate sacrifice for it. Leon i never blamed....Ishimaru was heartbreaking he found his first true friend and begged for their life and was willing to give his own. Sakura just wanted to make amends. I felt so deeply for almost all of them.
