Question regarding “BCE” and “CE” rather than BC and AD: do you also replace Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with secular substitute word? Or do secularists only care about removing Jesus from the epochs based on his birth and not on the pagan idols in the names of the week?

I know what it means. It’s utter nonsense. BC should be used and because it’s Before Christ. BCE is just stealing from the Christian worldview and trying to pretend Christ never really came down to earth to save sinners. The greatest event our timeline will ever see. BCE is pathetic. Who cares being “common”?

Secularists consider the two eras “BCE” (Before Common Era) and “CE” (Common Era). Christians prefer “BC” (Before Christ) and “AD” (Anno Domini, Latin, meaning Year of Our Lord-Jesus Christ) which was used for years but it’s (IMHO) silly to use two different languages to define the two eras, particularly Latin, a language not commonly used today. If Christians would simply view “BCE” as “Before Christian Era” and “CE” as “Christian Era”, substituting “Common” for “Christian”, we could all stop arguing and get along just fine.

@strangehominid you believe in Jesus but you aren’t devout? I’m curious as to how that works.
@adventuringboysbeatz2945 Жыл бұрын
@strangehominid I see I see I don’t want to come across as rude but if I don’t say anything your blood is on my hands too. Assuming you believe the Bible is a trusted document, the book of James talks a lot about prayer and why it’s important. Hebrews 10:24-25 talks about why we need to go to church. Proverbs 27:17 famously says iron sharpens iron, as one man sharpens another. In case those verses didn’t get my point across, John 14:21 hits the nail on the head: “Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”
@adventuringboysbeatz2945 Жыл бұрын
@strangehominid I go through the same thing sometimes, where I have doubts and questions and I begin to question our God. Just like a relationship between friends or foes, your relationship with God ebbs and flows. There will be times when you doubt His existence and there will be times where He is extremely tangible. But I think that’s where the difference between us lies: my family and I go to church quite often and recently I have been looking deeply into the theology of the Bible. Not many of my friends on the robotics team and at my high school are Christian, and I find myself being questioned fairly often about my faith. Therefore recently I have been devoting my life to the purpose of showing them His love and His reasoning. I want to be able to answer any question they can throw at me. I have grown to enjoy atheist/Christian debates to an extent (sometimes they can take a while) I take pride in knowing my identity is in Christ. Personally, I am a person who wants to think freely but sometimes I need solid ground to stand on. The Bible is unchanging, tested and proven to be true. It has held up through thousands of years of trial and criticism, so I know I can always turn to it when I want the truth on the issue. All that to say, God won’t chase you down and force you to love Him. When you love Him and actually believe in His existence, that is when His existence will become apparent. This process can be helped by going to church, youth group, Bible studies, etc.
@BandlerChing Жыл бұрын
@strangehominidok, but you and all Christian’s are assuming that Jesus was born 2023 years ago. There’s no actual proof of that. ETA: actually, Herod died in 4 BC, and since Jesus was born when Herod was king according to the gospels, it’s fair to say, Jesus was was born “before Christ” if that’s what BC refers to. Odd right?
