I have not done stamping for a number of years and was blown away and excited by how these stamps are so very different than the red rubber stamps I have used...this was very instructional and I appreciated your expertise! You have given my coming home to stamping a new life!

Nancy, as always, thanks for this amazing video. I use to only know one type of stamp and that was rubber stamps. When I finally heard of clear stamps, I shied away from them due to how unorthodox they seemed. I'm much more comfy with them now.....although rubber stamps will always have my heart....❤❤❤. Side note.....I was watching a Tim Holtz video a few weeks ago and he mentioned, albeit very quickly, that he stamps his stamps (he didn't specify whether they were silicone or photopolymer) with black Archival ink and sets them aside to let the ink dry. He said this makes them stamp better. He assured the dried Archival ink on the stamps wouldn't interfere with or bleed into other inks....BUT you have to let the Archival ink dry. I'm testing this with a few of my least favorite stamps...😂😂. Leaving them out overnight to see how this works. Just got my Archival ink yesterday, so will report back with updates! Update/Edit to Add...9/8/2018.....so I tried the Archival ink technique but it didn't work. The ink came off my stamps when I wiped them with my stamp shamy to see if it would rub off. Glad I didn't dip them in any of my inkpads first. So ladies and gentlemen....don't try this!!!

Thank you! I got silicone stamps for the first time and had no idea why it wasn't working for me. I sanded it with a fine grade sanding sponge and they WORK now :)

What an eye opening video on stamping.. I didn’t realise there was so much to it. I’d been buying so many silicone stamps, and now I’m going to look for the polymer ones. Thank you for this very informative and useful video.

Just watching this. Thanks so much for this video. I just got the Anna Griffin set and played around but had a hard time getting good images especially with the sentiments. I now know what to do. Great video in your library!!!!! Even two yrs later. Lol

Awesome info! I remember when clear stamps first came out, I'd have that beading up of the ink, and blotchy images. I commented to my local craft boutique owner about this and she looked at me like I was nuts. I got embarrassed because I figured by her reaction, I must be doing something wrong! Fast forward what...10 years? And now I realize why they did that! Lol. Omigosh. Great tips. Thank you for demonstrating the inkadink tool, too! I have tried several times to understand how to use it, and until now, couldn't wrap my mind around it! Hahaha. You make it seem so easy! 🖤

WOW, great tutorial! Basic information, but I didn't know a lot of what you informed us about! I knew there was a difference in my stamping, but wondered if it was in my ink pads, didn't think about the actual stamps. Now, I know it could be both. Thanks again for taking the time to do this video. I really enjoy your videos, and yes, I like that you keep the boo-boos in, too! :-) I can't wait to get to the stores to see if I can find the EZ Mount Cling Foam so I can convert ALL my several plastic containers of wood stamps into smaller, and a more organized system that'll take up less room! THANKS!!

Some girls on here say to push your stamp down for a long time all over the stamp . And I always thought that it would be better to press all over and hold a long time . Primeing so much better . Love your information Thank you for sharing this with me Be safe and God bless you sweetie

Paint is going to give a more distress look. Soap and water always works on paint.

I'm new to stamping... getting supplies in the mail tomorrow... and this video made me feel like shit for getting silicone stamps.
@NancyStamps4 жыл бұрын
Joanna just prime them first. Rub them with your hands,soft eraser or versmark ink first. Using pigment inks will work best. Not all clear stamps are silicone, some are photo polymer. Make sure to store them away from direct sunlight too. Some will yellow.
@OrgyBlossom894 жыл бұрын
@@NancyStamps thanks. I did continue to watch the video and saw your tips. Good news is that since I want to heat emboss, I did go ahead and also purchase versamark pigments so hopefully they come out fine. :) I did have to go to Amazon and buy blocks after watching this video because I didn't know I needed that lol. Good video. Lots of good tips

New subbie.. Appreciate the information...now I know...I have only worked with Close to my Heart stamps so I didn't know there was a difference!!! My Crafters Companion must be the cheapest kind..I can not get them off the acatate ... would you know how? Have stamped and scraped for decades..you can teach an old dog!!😊
@NancyStamps6 жыл бұрын
Crafty Stash Anna Griffin, free stamps with magazine, Crafters companion, Hampton Arts are all usually silicone. Stampin Up, CTMH, Hero Arts, The Ton, Altenew, Penny Black are all the better photopolymer stamps.

Very informative. I have a question.... How often do you have to "prime" your stamps? Is this a one time thing or is it every time you clean your stamps? Thank-you so much for this I really had no idea. AMB...Rose

BloodLace Rose just once or twice when you first get them. Then they are good to go. 👍

The synthetic rubber---your "red rubber stamps"---gives the best result due to its ink absorbency property and is also the most durable among the 3. I'm shocked to hear you praising the photopolymer stamps so much. I make stamps for living, and I could tell you that photopolymers are terrible. They have very poor ink absorbency property because its surface is like hard stone, instead of the soft porous surface of rubbers, the ink will "smudge" on its surface which will give you unclear edge. It is even worse when you try to use them with solvent based craft inks, it will just smudge the ink all over the place and the stamp itself will be ruined in a very short time of use.
@NancyStamps4 жыл бұрын
The new photopolymer Stamps are not hard. I have never had any issues with my photopolymer Stamps. I agree red rubber is superior, however the clear photopolymer is usually cheaper and easier to use.
