In today's video I go into the details of the differences in base coats, and which one to use depending on your nail type + a simple autumn design.

Love all of your videos!!! Could you possibly talk about the cuticle clean up a bit more? Specifically which flame bit is best and why, how do you know you’ve cleaned and removed the sticky part throughly with out leaving a ring of fire and why cuticle scissors are best versus cuticle nippers? Thank you so much again for the fun and informative videos!!! ❤

The red abrasion/fine grit flame bit is usually the go-to for the cuticles. Some ppl like scissors, others like nippers. It’s usually preference. I’m not a pro at using my drill yet so I prefer nippers. They help me reach smaller places that I can’t lift up properly yet w my drill bit.

I’d also say that practice is the only way to know when you’ve cleaned up thoroughly but haven’t carved the nail. Again, I’m not a pro yet but I have a lot of practice. I do my drill thing at 15rpms & then whatever cuticle was too difficult for me, I buff it away with a 180 grit buffer. If it’s still there after all this, I repeat with the drill and then the buffer but usually it’s fine after the original 2 passes. I’m usually scraping up the whole nail for the dehydrate-prime-base steps and just pass through the cuticle area

Pro tip: when you have an elastic base the removal is easier and heat free with a ceramic bit. Hard gels and acrilic powder file off better with carbide bits.

You should try the Erica’s ATA pink TRex bit. It removes all gel very quickly with no heat. Less passes. Light elegance has a speedy bit which is also Amazing! Love this ser beauty!

Oh wow her nails are looking amazing 💅since we saw them last time before you transformed them. You've been so artistically blessed. 😊 I bought a rubber base coat witch came with a "rubber top coat"? I found that it peeled off quite easily ☹️ am I putting it on to thick or should I miss out the rubber top coat and use a normal shiny top coat? I'm confused? Love your videos, especially your free hand designs and your beautifully perfected nails right from your cuticle clean up all the way to the top coat. Blessings from Scotland. 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️

A good reason the rubber base coat is peeling is due to the first base coat. The top coat/finish coat won't cause the peeling. Another reason is how you're applying the gel. Perhaps you're applying too much, or it could be that rubber base coats are just too flexible for your nail type, so you may have to use a different kind of base coat all together! The reason for peeling could be so many things. I would try to apply it in a thinner layer. Another trick could be applying a thin layer of the rubber base coat and then an acrylic powder on top of that, then you can cure it all underneath the lamp. This will create a really strong base & then if you want, you can go over it again in the rubber base to smooth it out. This way your nails will still be thin but super durable. I hope this helps you!!

Thank you so much for these videos! Can I ask, how long did it take you to remove the product ? I wonder because sometimes it happens to me that with products like such it takes me more than 20 minutes even 30 . Thanks and I love your content!

I'm confused! the soft and hard base coats are used to strengthen long natural nails??🥺🥺
@skyefirenails
@skyefirenails Жыл бұрын
Yes, but it depends on how flexible your nail plate is. If you're like me and your natural nails are thin and very flexible, it's better to use something that can flex with them, otherwise I usually experience cracking. If your nails are thicker and not as flexible, you don't need such a flexible product. I hope this helps!
