How old is a video with this much quality information only have less than 5000 views, and a video of a six-year-old playing Minecraft breaks 5 million?

Thanks for watching David! Please share this video with anyone who could use the information. Don't worry, we understand that Minecraft is pretty popular.

David, people have definitely got their priorities in the wrong place to answer your question.

That little hint about 80/100/120 chains being able to stretch before failing is something that I hadn't yet heard and really helps clarify why lower grades shouldn't be used to lift. Good video.

Alloy lifting chains must stretch a minimum of 20% before breaking.
@brianjohnston4207
@brianjohnston4207 8 ай бұрын
Alloy chain is also elastic in nature it has what I call recoverable stretch which means it stretches under load but returns to its original dimensions. Unrecoverable stretch is the overload indicator and by Unrecoverable stretch I mean the chain stretches deformity the link and it does not return to it's original dimensions. Wire rope is different and Unrecoverable stretch is not necessarily a removal from service situation.

I never knew about the hoist load chain being special. I have a few lengths of chain from 20ft 1/4 ton lever hoists that i kept because the chain is so small but now i know to be careful with it

Gunnebo grade 100 chain is Blue so color should not be an indicator of grade. The grade will be indcated on the link.

hi boater here looking for advice from professionals that handle chains all day. Our boat uses 300 ft of chain and we wish to take the anchor load off the windless using a sling off the cleats. I have heard that the way you hook onto a chain link is very important as the wrong hook will weaken the chain. I have heard of a chain clutch. what is the best clutch out there that has a safety device on it that shops it from falling off the chain? Thanks

I was actually looking for more than 'don't use it', I already know that but you need to give riggers tools so that we can explain to people the WHY not just the what. Explaining to your mate who lifts concrete pits and beams with transport chain by throwing it around the teeth of his excavator needs more than just 'it doesn't stretch'. If I can give him a number like I can with rigging techniques and load angles with rated gear, even if that number is vague or approximate I might be able to convince him to actually buy some lifting chain and avoid injury or damage down the road. Or at least peace of mind, 3 or 6m of 1/2" transport chain someone grabbed off the back of a heavy haul trailer slung at a 60deg angle will lift 250 or 500kg no probs. On the other hand when you start bending it and reeving it I need confidence that either it will or won't work. Saying 'don't do that' doesn't cut mustard with a lot of people unless you can explain why. Another thing, Here in Aus. I've certainly seen rusty transport chain but I don't believe I've ever seen any chain with G30 or 43 written on it, what is the comparable lashing capacity of that chain to G70? And how do I actually identify it?

My ??? Is how about pulling other cars out of the ditch per-say , say you got a big truck to pull out with your big truck out of a ditch what chain would you use ,, I have 3/8 5/16 and a couple more smaller chain not sure the size on smaller chain
@LiftingandRigging
@LiftingandRigging 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Leon, thanks for watching. I would check the manufacturer recommendations for your chains and be sure to keep in mind the WLL (Weight Load Limit) of your chains in comparison to the cars you would be pulling. Without having all the information for your tow we can't make a recommendation for which size chain to use.

For people that must use multiple chains, frequently throughout the day; inspection before each use is a no go. EMPLOYERS KNOW THIS, YET WILL STILL ARGUE THAT SAFETY IS OF MOST CONCERN. SUPERVISORS AND FOREMEN ARE NOTORIOUS FOR PUTTING DAMAGED CHAINS AND SLINGS BACK ON THE RACK FOR MORE DAILY USE.
@LiftingandRigging
@LiftingandRigging 10 ай бұрын
If you see a damaged chain, speak up. Safety is everyone's responsibility. If you see a damaged chain, be sure to pull it out of service before someone else uses it. We do not need to rely on supervisors and foremen to remove the rigging. If damaged rigging is being put back on the shelf, then odds are there is a larger cultural problem. Perhaps riggers/supervisors do not know what damaged rigging looks like, or they have not been educated on how to perform an inspection. Do the riggers feel empowered to pull damaged rigging out of service themselves? Download our free inspection guide and hang it where you hang your rigging. This can serve as a reminder. resources.mazzellacompanies.com/rigging-gear-inspection-field-reference-guide We also have an entire sling inspection course to help educate riggers and anyone else touching the rigging on how to perform their inspections. www.mazzellacompanies.com/learning-center/course/lifting-sling-inspection-course/

@@LiftingandRiggingI just showed your reply to many people in my advanced crane and hoist rigging class. All ages and levels of experience. I got mostly laughs and derogatory statements about you being a technical KIS--ss, and that you would not fare well if you were honest.
