*"They're going second. How did they know they were gonna need that Potion?"* In Gen 1, the AI decides the move it's going to use not only knowing which move you've chosen, but also the result of your move (miss or not, damage dealt, switch Pokémon). So it knows that the move you use will hit, and that their Pokémon will still have remaining HP. That's also why the AI will sometimes use a move that's strong against the Pokémon you've just switched to, even though it's obviously not supposed to know you are going to switch, and which attack type the new Pokémon will be weak against.

@chaoskiller60844 жыл бұрын
Correct. Most of the more major trainers have AI that always tries to use moves of a type that's effective against your pokemon. This can lead to strange situations, like Lance's team only using moves like Agility or Barrier if your pokemon is the weakest to Psychic moves (this is why a Venomoth beat Lance's Dragonite in Twitch Plays Pokemon since enemy pokemon never run out of PP). Not only this, but the AI picks moves after you've input what you're going to do. An example of this cheating is when you're facing Blues' Exeggutor who has Sleep Powder. If your pokemon is asleep, you'll obviously try waking it up with an Awakening or the Pokeflute. When your pokemon is awake again, Blue should use an attacking move if he wasn't cheating. But instead, he uses Sleep Powder again, since it was picked when the pokemon was awake, rather than the start of the turn.

Gamefreak was sick for the Brock fight. They should have included a feature in that battle to make rain fall on Brock's pokemon so that thundershock would be super effective or something like that, to make it like the anime which they were really going for in this game.

I guess you could kinda consider the full HP potion Happiness increase a glitch. Atleast it would appear logical to do so considering the pokedoll Skip is also a glitch in your book. Edit : Shouldnt matter in the end, since you can Force yourself through the hiker without bulbasaur, though much more painful i'd assume.
@maxcrss28453 жыл бұрын
I disagree. The poke doll skip is an unintended method to finishing a battle before you’re supposed to. This is more like the badge boost glitch
@bensosnowski11283 жыл бұрын
@@maxcrss2845 I really don’t get why so many people mention the poke doll glitch. It’s a sequence break that changes how the game is played, as opposed to a small stat boost. It’s not even comparable tbh

@@bensosnowski1128 the Logic used is that it was patched in Firered and Leafgreen to not work. Why would Gamefreal do that if that was supposed to happen?

Just the distraction I needed for quarantine. Feels weird to see that. Thought about opening a Discord, Jrose? I was considering how a Crystal fewest battles challenge would look like.

always so fun to watch your content. so interesting to see all these numbers explained by you for someone who only casually played pokemon. you are one of 2 channels where i have the notification enabled so its the good stuff. hope you are staying safe in these times and thanks for your content

The reason Lorelei and Agatha can use potions going second is that AI trainers in generation 1 only determine which move/item to use after your attack has already been preformed or you've made the switch out. Which is also why Gen 1 AI trainers will hit your incoming pokemon with a super-effective mood super often.

I'm stoked to see you making regular content again. Your red/blue magikarp vid was arguably the biggest contribution to putting these sorts of challenges on the map. I enjoy watching a lot of these videos and without your work they may not have taken off as much as they did. So for that, myself and the community thank you 🙏

One is increasing friendship, the other is a huge sequence break that changes how the game is played
@kartslulz76793 жыл бұрын
@@bensosnowski1128 Both are unintended and not meant to be used. Both are literally glitches aka errors in the code. Pokedoll also skips you a 10 minute run to get the scope...wouldn't call that a huge sequence break what whatever floats your boat.
