The Bruno's story arc on this channel is legit stuff! After a difficult journey to become a member of Elite 4 he is humiliated time and time again, defeated by the same trainer who keeps bringing teams of a single unevolved pokemon and just pressing 'A' button to win. Having experienced a mental breakdown, he swears revenge. Jrose wants to defeat Elite 4 without taking any damage? Bruno looks at his Hitmonchan... and teaches him Mach Punch. "Under no circumstances are you allowed to use other moves, understand?" Hitmonchan nods as if he understood the words of his master completely.

From a thematic standpoint, I actually kinda love that Clair doesn't have fully-evolved dragons yet. She fancies herself a dragon master, but the fact that her Dragonair hasn't evolved yet reveals her arrogance, and that she has much to learn before she's able to get on the level of her rival/idol Lance, the TRUE Dragon-type master. I found it a little odd that he was so adamant that Hitmonlee had to come last in the Bruno fight. It's a good deal more impressive to run in set mode rather than shift, but I spent that whole Bruno part wondering why he didn't just change the setting, or if I had missed him mentioning that mode as a rule for himself. Quite awesome that he managed to run that way though.
@cereal75914 жыл бұрын
Yup. It can go unnoticed because he never mentions it, even though he always does it, like in his recent Bruno run. That added difficulty can really make a difference, especially for these type of runs. It was another key aspect to consider for choosing Haunter. And tbh, I get his logic. It's so nonsensically funny to imagine a Shift scenario: "Oh, my Rhyhorn's down. Hey, kid! I know I'm the Mafia's Boss and we're Battling for the takeover of this big Corporation with hostages and everything, but I just wanted you to know: I'm gonna send my other Rhyhorn now. You OK with that? Wanna switch? No? Your Blastoise is good on it's Surf PP? Ok then! Go rekt him, Rhyhorn, you've got this!". Then he's shocked and wonders how he lost again.

29:10 - I also noticed that the difficulty dramatically decreased as well. This is one reason why I liked a few romhacks that fixed this. In addition, the Kanto gym levels ALSO had a noticeable increase in not only their levels but pokemon as well.

Is it weird that I like the fact that half of the gym leaders in jhoto aren't conventional gym leaders. Like it reveals that they have a life outside of being a gym leader. @Shenaldrac4 жыл бұрын
Those moves are only bullshit when they're being used against you. When you have them? It's great.
@joeldykman75914 жыл бұрын
@@Shenaldrac not at all. Lol. Confuse ray is fine. 100% hit rate to give a 50-33% confusion proc (depends on gen). Supersonic is hot garbage. 55% hit rate to give a 50-33% confusion proc. Confusion proc is equivalent to afflicted pokemon doing a 40 base attack move that ignores type on themselves. It lasts 1-4 turns. Bite (aside from gen 1) is a 100% hit rate 60 power move that has a 30% flinch chance. Zubat and golbat have garbage attack stats, so even at best with bite and confusion status afflicted, the enemy pokemon still has anywhere from a 35-47% chance of attacking anyways and that pokemon more than likely will have a good chance of ko'ing zubat/golbat in those 2-3 turns because of how low their base hp and defenses are. Fun fact, my favourite Pokemon is Alakazam, and there is a cute origin story. As a young child, I had a lot of social issues, as in, I sucked at talking to people. When I did, all I could really talk about was the video games I played, like Pokemon. As a child, I always saw Alakazam as that one super powerful psychic Pokemon. As a kid growing up with FRLG and the anime, I saw Alakazam as this powerful pseudo Mewtwo. I never got one, though, as I never had friends to trade with, or two systems and two games. Though, Freshman year rolled around, and I finally got Diamond and Pearl with a friend, and I raised up an Abra into Alakazam. It happened to be a modest Alakazam, and it carried my whole team. To this day, Alakazam represents the power of friendship to me. I always found it neat that you liked Kadabra, which is, of course, a very respectable Pokemon in its own right.

Cool video. Definitely enjoyed watching the challenge run, separate from your other challenge runs and ongoing series. As someone that likes watching these sort of pokemon challenge runs from various poketubers, I think something you could do to improve upon future runs is make it very clear up front what all the rules are. For example, a quick slide at the start saying "If any of my pokemon ever takes damage, I restart from my previous save. I am allowed to save as many times and as often as I like, with the exception being no saving between Elite 4 members. All use of pokemon centers, items in battle, etc are allowed." I think if you added something like that, it would give all the viewers the expectations of the run up front and make it more interesting. Cheers!

16:50 I cant agree more. Heartgold and Soulsilver had sooooooooo much content and mechenics. It really was 4th gen at its peak and I don't think they ever achieved that level ever again. Pokewalker, 16gyms, gym rebattles, safari zone, pokethon, dressup assasories, voltorp flip, tons of catchable legendaries (even without the events), collectable leafs and ribbons, pokemon walks at your side!, tons of pokeballs you could use,... and I am sure I forget things still.

Watching the Blue fight I was thinking how it would have been cool if that in Pokemon Blue the player character sprite was the rival sprite and your rival was the usual player character sprite. It would have been pretty easy to code and it would have also made the Red and Blue games have something very noticeable in-game to distinguish them.

Ok, about the order the e4 sends out pokemon. From what i know they pick pokemon that have super effective moves against your current pokemon. The most extreme example of this is koga. If you kill ariados with typhlosion (or any other fire type) he will always send in forretress cuz it knows spikes, which is a ground type move. (This is just observation and guesswork, so take it with a grain of salt but i more or less confirmed it against other trainers like the kanto gym leaders and red). In fact, whenever i go through e4 multiple times using the same pokemon for the same opposing pokemon, the order is actually really consistent. I think it happens that the order gets shuffeld around a bit if the remaining pokemon are all equally effective against your current pokemon, but that rarely happend to me. Maybe you just got unlucky?

You wondered about the “random” elite four order. I am no expert, but I can bring my observations. As a kid I often did solo Typhlosion run of the game and the elite four always had the same set of Pokemon order because they saved their grass/weak to fire pokemon to last, starts with best matchup. I did notice a change when a did not use a pokemon following that pattern it changed a little, but I always took that to the ai trying to find same pattern as before, but couldn't so it tries one that might work. I might be wrong, but that has always been what I thought from how I experienced it.

It honestly makes me so glad you say Gold/Silver and their remakes are the best games in your opinion. They are my favorite ones. I was so hyped back when HG/SS came out and it really paid off. Heck, I wouldn't even be mad if they did a third remake of the games for the Switch.

JRose, I’ve been watching your videos on the fire stick as I go to bed and man, they’re just so entertaining and great. I know you put so much time into these challenges and editing them, the voicing, the script, etc.. all so painful, I’m sure. I’m glad you’re having a lot of success and you’ll continue to rise! The Pokémon games really are that awesome where it’s not annoying whatsoever to see them get played through over a 40 min span many times.. so thank you again. Subscribed!

@@evantanuwidjaja8017 i understood that. And I exactly said why it's not odd in a gen2 game. Kadabra doesn't need it. (Actually with kadabras and Alakazam's shitty defenses I'd never run recover on them) kadabra with the punches and psychic oneshots 3/4 of the game

tbh if lance can have several gamesharked dragonites, so can claire. im also pretty sure you can technically challenge pryce before morty because nothing is stopping you from going through the cave connecting ecruteak to mahogany and the assumption is that youll go morty > lake of rage > pryce > chuck > jasmine, though nothings making or stopping you from doing it in any order you please im always looking forward to your uploads, thanks for brightening my day with every video you put up ♥
