I have it. It's okay. The face sculpt isn't sexy at all. It's huge and takes up too much room for how impressive it isn't. I don't hate it, but I would love to get my money back for it.

Also statue companies literally take inspiration from previous highly regarded statues. Thrones are so popular because of the doom. Companies literally need to equal or exceed previous versions of the characters. Standards sculpt and detail should always improve and if they don’t, then they are doing something wrong. All the collectors like myself who where present when OG’s dropped were mind blown. Nothing of size, quality and detail existed. The older generation of collectors are what set the standards of value for those items. The new generation of collectors who have 50 choices of each character of course are going to see things differently. Today’s world of instantaneous pleasure in abundance and countless choices muddies the opinion of grails and devalues the statues themselves. Ohh look at that cool picture of Ironman….. 10 days later digital render and in production in two weeks.

Everyone hating on OG Doom on Throne, I finally got it a few years ago, in person its an amazing statue for classic Doom, Throne still has incredible detail.

I never got why the SS OG Hulk was such a sought after piece. But I would also add in there the OG Spider-Man vs Hulk from SS as well. To me, the proportion of Hulk to Spidey was way too big. And on top of that, I wasn’t a fan of that particular sculpt of Hulk.

Oh man, Gem. For me it has to be the Sideshow Spider-Man Comiquette. I'm not talking the J. Scott Campbell one, but the OG Comiquette. I'm not sure if people are still talking about this particular piece but I never saw the appeal of it. I got into statue collecting when the Spider-Man Premium Format (the one where he's leaping from the beam on one hand) was released. I loved that one. But that comiquette... I simply didn't see the appeal.

The statue hobby continues to evolve thanks to the free markets and capitalisms “creative destruction “ process whereby a superior commodity eliminates former competitors. Bowen was the holy grail standard of statues and any collection could benefit from adding his pieces for how sculpting and statues have evolved . The Bowen Batman on gargoyle with flowing cape limited to I forget how many pieces THAT was a grail piece back in 2003 . I’ll always love Bowen pieces no matter what he is the Jack Kirby of the collectible statue world . 👑💯👑

If you think about it anything that people get excited about when they get it could be considered overblown with emotion. Still to them it is a reality check knowing how much money was spent to obtain it and need to justify it. Personally I just get what I want to get and don't care what others think of it. I'm the one that has to live with it. Overblown hype doesn't exist for those collectors who truly love what they own and are not in it to sale for profit.

NOBODY ever takes into account that most of the OG statues ARE HAND SCULPTED! Digital sculpts of course are going to be more intricate and detailed. The OG’S are amazing for coming out in 2003. To still hold up in some people’s minds after dozens of new versions have come out after, speaks volumes to the quality. Even the resin used was better quality then. In a time of over saturated statues and endless customs, I will always hold the original grails at a high regards. 20 years and still strong. 20 more years and see if any of the current pieces are still considered grails and then we’ll talk lol.

I will always respect a painting more when someone actually paints it. Not a digital painting… sculpting something by hand should give more meaning to any type of art. I doesn’t mean it’s better, just more interesting. I feel the same with comic art. Someone who hand draws something is more appealing to me than a digital drawing or A.I version.

Yeah I have to agree with doom on throne. Looks so bad imo. And sideshow Batman who laughs. So many ppl love that piece but I think it’s not that great. I hate the base and the faces on the bottom a lot. Underrated is sideshow daredevil and XM merciless and murder machine. They’re so good but no one talks about them. And prime 1 DMC 5 Dante, Vergil, and Nero. Can’t wait for the DMC3 dante and Vergil to come out

I had a chance at that Superman Hush when it first came out but decided to go with Iron Studios Ivan Reis Superman instead. Maybe not as good as the Hush but still quite a nice piece which came with one goofy looking portrait but the other two are good. I think that hurt it. I got it because I thought it looked more dynamic then hush and the base was better. Has leaning issues but overall I was happy with him. Objectively Hush was probably the better choice in hindsight but Iron Studios isn't anywhere near as bad as some say.

Superman Hush I would say yes only because the base is REALLY bad. But the superman sculpt is A+. But also the last time I checked I think people were asking $3,000 for him. What's crazy

Base is fine. It elevates him above other statues and rotates. It's nothing special I completely agree, but "REALLY bad" is an exaggeration. It does its job and doesn't distract from the amazingness above it!
