Man this absolutely nails it. It is completely normal for people to be motivated by the large wage in FAANG, it can be completely life changing. I 100% envy people that can just slog away at this, doing the same thing day in day out like a factory worker for years without complaining. If you are not one of these people however then, Like Anthony says, you keep yourself hostage, and it is incredibly hard to leave, especially if you have have hoisted your standard of living to match your wage. My advice is, get in there if you can (FAANG or otherwise), make the monies, live modestly, invest in something that can subsidize a decent chunk of your life, then quit and pursue the software ideas that you really care about with the peace of mind that you're gonna be ok. It's truly liberating.

You have to be a businessman to start a successful startup. People don't understand that to be a successful businessman is more a talent than a skill. You need to have a specific mindset. Many try - few succeed.

6:10 Yep, yep. For all those boys and gals who say that copilot and ChatGPT made them 20x more productive. What have you build in the last 2 years? Show me. Nothing? I guess 20x nothing is still nothing.

Anthony , no offense but you just seem like the guy who has overconfidence for some reason. Like , there are so many more ways of making money as software developers. You are selling courses of my go and htmx and templ , giving "30% off" trying to create a sense of urgency. And so you create such titles so people click on your videos. You are going in the direction of theo/mrbeastifaction in creating cringy clickbaity faces Like what have you done so that I can trust you enough to listen to top 3 career path except from the fact that you are obsessed over golang , doing the purist approach. Nothing is as good or as bad as it seems. This goes double for programming languages. So obsessing over 1 language imo is very bad.
