"many falsely assume russia is the main threat to nato security" that aged well lol

I liked your part of the video about NATO being a strategy piece of the US, this is my thought as well. Following this line of thinking, you can see NATO's direction under a different light. A lot of people may think that NATO is there to counter Russia, but Russia is hardly a threat to the US - a potential geopolitical independent Europe is. NATO is a strong counter-point to the necessity of a more integrated Europe.

Great video as always! I would love a video where you talk about the countries in Europe that consider themselves neutral and their relationship with NATO like Sweden,Finland,Austria, ect... Maybe also a similar one with countries in western Europe that aren't members of the EU and their relationship with the EU as well like Norway,Iceland,U.K., ect...

In my view NATO is a power structure that’s serves 3 functions 1. Keep the Germans down 2. Keep the Russians out 3. Keep the Americans in

I would say that France is the second most powerful member of NATO, because France has nuclear weapons. However, the Turkish Military is the second largest in NATO by the number of personnel.

I should have included something about France’s more independent ventures from the alliance also, like their activities in west/cetntral africa

When it needs to, Nice. Honestly, there isnt a ton of countries that would provide value to NATO that also wants to join it. Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia are both arguably more trouble than they are worth. That said, NATO uses its membership action plans and ideas to influence change in countries. Yeah, It's pretty much Finland and Sweden that would actually add much.

You begin with a flagrantly untrue statement: "the Alliance has had a long history of collective defense". Name a single occasion when the alliance has intervened in the defense of any of its members. It has never defended anyone - except in its own propaganda. On the contrary, it has only ever acted to punish independent states that refuse to knuckle under - such as Yugoslavia. In my opinion it doesn't qualify as "an alliance" either, rather it is the vehicle of US control over Europe, insuring that the EU will never be capable of mounting rivalry or resistance to American interests. All its western members were still occupied by US bases when this "alliance" was created and were in the process of eliminating all their left wing parties as required by the United States before they could receive aid and debt relief after WW2. NATO is not a free association of genuinely sovereign states nor does it exist for our defense.
