Thank you so much for creating these videos! This is perfect to include with my lecture on Russian formalism and saves me so much time as a teacher as I work to produce high quality online courses in a short period of time. Keep 'em coming! I shared these with my entire college department.

Vehicles and tenors is thing being described. Vehicle is figurative language you use to describe it . These terms are taken from famous rhetorician I A richards who wrote about these structures of metaphors way back in 1936 . Tenor and vehicle ground is things tenor and vehicle have in common. In literature vehicle is components of metaphor, with tenor referring to concept , object , person meant , and vehicle being image that Carries weight of comparison. For example tenor and vehicle in Macbeth play tenor Macbeth ambition to be king and vehicle is spur . Ground is that Shakespeare compares Macbeth desire to be king riding horse . Thank you for your wonderful educational literary channel.

I have been eagerly waiting for a new video lecture. These explicitly defined concepts enhance our ability to talk on these topics more confidentaly. A good teacher is indeed a bless to the society.

Superb sir 👌 Correct me if I'm wrong, The chilli sauce makes me cry Here Tenor is its so spicy And Vehicle is cry Is this correct?
@SWLF
@SWLF 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting, hemalakshmi. Because chili sauce can literally make people cry, we'd say this might not be the best kind of figurative language, as there might be some confusion on whether or not you were being literal or figurative. If we said something like "This chili sauce burns like the fire of the sun," we're moving more into the realm of the figurative. In that case, the vehicle would be "the fire of the sun" and the tenor would be the chili sauce. Hope that helps! And thanks so much for all of your contributions!

It make sense studio album and book 📕 are same because they both have numbers and song title and studio album title is a book 📕 title and lyrics equals details.

So I'm watching Risky Business' Porsche 928 slide into a lake. Is Joel the Tenor there, the Porsche the Vehicle, him trying to stop it sliding of the hill the Tension and it going under water the Ground? This as a visual representation of Lana who likes to keep their relation on the surface and walks off after Joel being to nosey while pointing out she knows his secret that he's driving his dad's car and she's only going to play along if she is the one who is in control. The Vehicle being a representation of the prosperity he has (eg. fakes) and it going under that he's overwhelmed by the feelings rising to the surface as Lana walks out of him?
