I crop in post if I need to. As an Olympus user I very often use the 4:3 aspect ratio. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and processes. Keep up the good work.

Very interesting and thought provoking vlog Paul. I must admit, up until now I have done my cropping in post but this has given me food for thought. Plenty of nice images with the one at around 24:52 being the pick of the bunch for me 📷👏👏

Great Video Paul, last time I was there I met a Pro-Photographer just by chance as you do at 5.00 am, and he said don't try to take the whole Image incorporating all the Buildings just pick out certain aspects of the scene, I am not telling you how to take Images, God forbid you are a experienced Photographer, But i saw what he meant, I have uploaded a few Images in Landscape Vlogtography Adventures, I think this is what he meant. ????? I tend to crop in post, rather than decide on site, which ever aspect ratio suits the image. This gives me scope to change my mind rather than committing to soon. Also, I prefer the 5:4 ratio for vertical images as a 3:2 is often too narrow. Just personal preference. You've given some good examples in this video which helps to visualise better ratios. Thanks.

Great location and a nice set of images. As long as you can afford to lose the pixels then shooting slightly wider and cropping in post is safer. Shooting film I've got to make the best of every silver halide crystal so border patrol is second nature and checking everything at least twice is standard procedure. I've become much more ruthless in cropping over the last year or so as well. If it doesn't add something to the shot it doesn't make the final cut.

I like the square format most. If you ever want a challenge use a wide angle lens with square format. It can get really difficult but the results are awesome when you succeed.

Hi Paul, thank you for this interesting video. It was very clear an to the point. My issues with aspect ratio’s is that I’m too stuck with the 3:2 format and not think about the correct crop before I take the picture. So post-processing has to save me. And even then I keep the 3:2 most of times while 16:9 or 3:4 would be better 😢. I never used 5:4, but from what you showed it can be very useful I’ve learned.

Enjoyed the video as usual Paul. An interesting place to photograph. I tend to use 16.9, or 3.2, so i need to rethink my aspect ratio's, so this video has been very informative. I would like to see more of your hints and tips Paul.
