Naz brought a ton of grit and confidence to the team, great on both ends, clutch physical an nasty. Every good team needs a Kadri type

I'm in the camp that believes Bettman as a whole, has done great. He literally saved the league in the 90s. I don't think many can dispute, it could very well have folded or become a shadow of itself. That being said, it's 2025 and I think they'd be wise to find someone more youthful, like he once was. I don't mean to be disrespectful to older folk, but it is impossible that he and his staff can truly be the wave of the future. Despite all its revenue uptick, they're still miles behind the other 3 big leagues and I just think someone with a more youthful approach would likely be better for the incoming generations, and sooner than later.

@@rynbvrs yep the growth the league has seen under his watch vs before is crazy. I don't think it's a coincidence that the 90s expansion perfectly coincides with a large uptick in fans at that same time (and let's be real here Disney really helped that too)

Kadri provided a ton of physicality in seasons 1 & 2. He beat up Lindgren after the Donskoi concussion. Third season he lost some physicality but increased his points, some of this due to MacKinnon's injury. Naz always found a way to impact the team. CM is either scoring points or doing nothing!

I'd say that the vast majority of fans have never played sport at a high level (professional or international) and obviously don't know what it takes to get there. There are so many factors that go into a team and its performance that you don't see night to night.
@JamieTheBangles11Fan3 күн бұрын
Kadri isn't bad. 17/17 and he's had good games v.s the Jets. If you got them or someone else involved in a trade that retained half his salary, is it such a bad trade to get him back? I'm just asking that as an honest question. Obviously he knows the system. Another question. could you move pieces and make it work where you don't give up casey and instead ship out Kelly with someone else? Kadri as a 3c on team, help with giving you four great lines. If the Avs want depth for the playoffs, would that not be a consideration?
@lj2912615 күн бұрын
With regards to Kadri, they won the cup with him. I know there is not everything rosy about him but that final season with the Avs was great. And he still is better than Mittelstadt!

I think this road trip needs to be a 3-0 for success and allow the team to built some momentum and consistency. I’d be interested to hear from you guys. Over the last week or so Bednar has called out “passengers” on the team and described the last 5 home stand games as “inconsistent” do you think players are bought into the Bednar system?
@RIPJimmyA7X6 күн бұрын
Alot of fans get wrapped up in the stanley cup win juxtaposed with a "mediocre" season, if you want to call an easy playoff spot that. Exactly like you said they look at Naz as a 90 point player when that was 1 freakish season. I love Mitts and he absolutely has that potential to explode as well, hes TALENTED. Also people need to stop judging the regular season so much, all that matters is the playoffs and none of our issues last regular season were why we lost in the playoffs. Mitts could easily go off for a 20 point playoffs and win the cup and this regular season is completely forgotten

Not all Avs fans have a love affair with Kadri to include me. I liked him, but not enough to resign him for what he was asking and while he had a good run here what’s he done since. I think Casey has become the new Sammy G level punching bag. Mittlestadt is going to be fine. He’s working himself out of a funk but has played better the last few games and is slowly getting his confidence back since scoring his goal a few games back. Let’s get off his back and see if his play turns around after getting rest during the break.

Even in his bad play he was giving us the super skilled middle 6 play driver we desperately were looking for since Naz

LO Avalanche should do a crossover with Calgary to ask about Naz! I know Hubie has turned to a more Power Forward style; I wonder if Naz has followed suit.

2 different players. Casey is a good center but is a two way center who doesn't play physical. Where as Kadri gives you a bit of everything, he is best when he plays on the edge, his physical game feeds his offense. Although I would rather have Colton-Kadri-Lehk as the second line, it is hard to bring a guy back in, other guys have stepped up to fill the role of the outgoing player, tough to do without ruining the licker roo.. IMO.

Your math for Casey to be on pace to beat Kadri’s first 2 seasons is way off because you aren’t accounting for the shortened seasons. .7 &.57 ppg for NK vs. .59 ppg for CM
@kman24924 күн бұрын
Okay. My 2 cents. I understand Kadri sucked his first two years sure. But the way he plays away from and with the puck is what this team needs. Most of all the fire he plays with. most importantly he knows exactly how the team plays and would slot right back in. I don’t think this Avs team has 2 years to wait for mittelstadt like they did when they first acquired kadri. This take is more like yall are worried about it than anything. I mean……. Look what happened with Rantanen who you said would NEVER get traded

Bettman should have retired with his botched handling of the Kyle Beech situation. Department of player safety, reffing? Jokes. Not getting rid of blackouts with the last tv deals? A joke. I need 5 subscription services to be able to watch every game? A joke. Piracy is at all all time high, that's missed revenue.

I'll remain steadfast in my criticism of Girard, Chris. hahaha. Until the day the Avs 1) get rid of him or 2)the Avs win the cup and he ACTUALLY PLAYS in the lineup past rd 2. They've never gotten past rd 2 with him on the ice. In fact they lost 4 games in a row to VGK when he's been on the ice in the playoffs. His limited game of "passing", his terrible shot, and his lacking stature and strength are not advantageous in the NHL playoffs for a team looking to win it all.

Bettman hasn't been great for the league. In fact, he's held it back in many instances. It's the players that have been great for the league
@LockedOnAvalanche5 күн бұрын
That's just not true. You can dislike the guy, but he's made the league profitable ($7 billion a year profitable) which is the role of a commissioner. He's added 8 teams during his time and there's a laundry list of things he done that has been good for the league as well. The owners wouldn't keep him around for as long as he has been in the role if he wasn't growing the game. In every sport the players are what is the most relatable and the face of any sport. They play different roles so it's difficult to say Bettman serves no purpose and give all of the credit to the players as to why a league is successful
