Completed my Master’s in 84. Coming from Alabama and dealing with the experience of that cold was beyond an experience. Jesus Christ I could never deal with it again. Had to buy totally new outfits for warmth. Go Michigan State.

Loved this video. You have a GREAT sense of humor. I've just been watching a few videos of actual students at MSU giving advice or reviewing dorm halls etc. My son will be a freshman this year and staying in Akers Hall (the biggest take away being that, apparently, you couldn't get much further from the main part of campus if you tried 😕) But, being that my son is a guy, he probably isn't, hasn't and won't watch a lot of these types of videos...so I'm doing it FOR him in order that we have a better idea of what to be sure he has, and to just get an idea and out of my own curiosity of what life is like for a student there at MSU. I went to a much smaller school back in my college days so a huge, big 10 school is foreign to me as well. Thanks for your video. I enjoyed it! 👍

Vanessa Mendez I love Holden!! It has great location to the central area of campus where a lot of your classes will be. It has a pretty good dining hall and there’s 2 other halls right in south neighborhood with Holden. There’s also a spartys convenience store and engagement center in the hall!

I'm hoping to come as an incoming freshman in the fall if I'm accepted since I'm a senior right now. I applied a month ago and I'm kinda intimidated cause it's so big and I'm not used to big places like this. Was it scary when you first started?
@truhshy2 жыл бұрын
Hi I’m going into my senior year at MSU this fall. I wouldn’t say it’s intimidating but it makes it way easier to make friends and get involved by joining clubs and whatnot. There are various types of clubs, I played hockey until this year and also joined numerous business clubs such as international marketing club. P.S. make sure to live in the dorms first year, that is where you will meet the majority of your good friends who you will probably hangout with and live with the rest of your time in college. MSU truly is a great university but whatever you decide to do, I’m sure it will be the right choice for you, cheers!😁

I will be an incoming freshman this fall and I am from FL so I’m definitely not used to the cold weather. What do you recommend for someone that is going to experience extremely low temps and snow for the first time like me? Also could you elaborate more on the busses? Do I need to purchase a pass ?
@chloemccarthy44883 жыл бұрын
the busses that run on campus are free and you don't need a pass. some of the busses that run elsewhere might need a pass, I'm not positive. and I would say just invest in good winter clothes and boots and mentally prepare yourself!

I think I’m going to MSU, and have a question Me and my friend are both going, and would like to be roommates. I’m going into engineering which I believe is more on south side by wells . He’s going to be on the east side in Holmes. Would it be a negative to stay with him in the east, even though my classes may be more in south? Or would it not be a big deal?
@chloemccarthy44884 жыл бұрын
Andrew Wright hey Andrew! So although staying in south would be much closer to the engineering building, bus 30 would be able to pick you up from Holmes and you could get to the engineering building pretty easily from there. You would have to leave probably about 20 minutes earlier to get to your classes on time from Holmes than you would from Wilson in south where a lot of engineering students are.
@chloemccarthy44884 жыл бұрын
Also if this is a factor: Wilson has its own dining hall whereas Holmes only has a spartys and the closest dining hall is across the street!

Well I know university of Michigan is good but I can’t get into that with my grades I guess. So Is MSU great or should I consider some other universities in other states? Thanks for your time😊

I'm not in the science field at MSU but we have so many alumni and networking opportunities because we're so big so I would say you can't go wrong. we also have a really high graduation rate and turnover to real world jobs after college. it's a huge student body with students from all over the world! if you aren't a fan of the cold then winters will be pretty tough but we have very distinct seasons which is nice!
