I used to drink about a dozen cups of tea a day and ended up with chronic chest palpitations and jitters. I went cold turkey eventually and am now happy with my one morning coffee and sometimes a tea mid morning.

Really interesting, thanks! I have started trying to put off caffeine until 11am as saw coffee first thing can interupt your bodies normal hormones etc for waking up. This then stops you crashing so hard - is this true?

Now I know. I occasionally train late and have a Nocco (other caffeine drinks available). I always fell asleep well but kept waking up at 2am and struggled to get back to sleep. Would you suggest a replacement for late training (lucozade, carb up) or just grind through clean?

I wonder if there’s difference in what coffee you’re drinking? I find South American-based coffee doesn’t give me the jitters, anxious feelings I get when I drink airport coffee (American usually). Maybe that’s not the right way to phrase that but that’s how I compare coffee haha. I find the coffee I usually drink doesn’t make me any more tired/alert than when I skip the morning coffee. Hmm now im curious 🤔 I think the concentration of coffee might make a difference?? Idk

I've recently cut out most of my caffeine intake (from a caffeinated coffee every day to about 2 or 3 per week) because I noticed I was getting more tired. I woke up tired, and stayed tired throughout the day, honestly not having a period of feeling alert at all. I decided to switch to decaf several days a week (I love the taste of coffee) and noticed a huge difference in my energy. What do you think could be the reason for this? I didn't notice a difference, but perhaps I was having more disturbed sleep?

Yeah it’s interesting Andrew Huberman did a fantastic podcast on not having caffeine until an hour after waking up & how that stopped the mid afternoon energy slump

Caffeine realy screwed up my sleep pattern. It took me years to get out of the bad habits of drinking too much coffee.
